"Don’t worry about me, I’m asking you how you hurt your leg?" Sheng Sheng carried her over to the sofa, and found that the first-aid kit he’d been looking for all this time was actually sitting right there on the couch. His brows instantly furrowed even tighter as he looked at Maimai, the emotion in his eyes turning even more self‑reproachful.

But his face was naturally cold, and all Maimai could see in his eyes was chill.

Her heart tightened sourly, her nose stinging as if it were about to run.

"How exactly did this happen?"

He saw that medicine had already been applied to her leg, so it definitely wasn’t from the fall just now. Before their fight yesterday her leg had been perfectly fine—could it be that when he’d been smashing things yesterday he’d accidentally hit her?

When Sheng Sheng thought of that possibility, he honestly wanted to slap himself twice!

"You still care about me?" Maimai drew her leg back, wrapping her arms around her knees. "Weren’t you planning to ignore me for the rest of your life?"

"..." Nonsense. When had he ever planned to ignore her for life?

Maimai saw he didn’t say a word and thought he was acknowledging it by default, and her heart sank even further. She glared at him, full of grievance.

She watched as he picked up the first‑aid kit and rummaged through it, finding a bottle of medicinal liquor. Then he grabbed her leg. Maimai didn’t resist at all, letting him straighten her left leg and lay it across his knee. He poured on the medicinal liquor and began rubbing and massaging as he applied it. "I’m sorry."

Sheng Sheng lifted his head to look at her. "I’m an asshole."

Maimai blinked. What was that supposed to mean?

She took a deep breath and stammered, "Are you still mad at me?"

"I’m not mad at you." Right now he only wanted to be mad at himself!

"Don’t lie to me." Maimai didn’t buy it. "You’re terrifying when you’re mad, you smashed everything in the house..." She stretched out her hand, studying his expression. Seeing it was relatively gentle, she pushed at his shoulder, a little timid and a little coquettish. "Don’t be mad anymore, okay? I already deleted what I said on Twitter."

Afraid he wouldn’t believe her, she took out her phone and scrolled to show him.

"Look, it’s gone, I deleted it... ah, that hurts, that really hurts..." Maimai didn’t even finish her sentence before she yelped; his hand pressing on her leg had gotten noticeably heavier, the pain so sharp her tears were about to spill.

But Sheng Sheng didn’t ease up at all. He was massaging the injury; it was good for her.

Maimai thought he was still angry and panicked. "You still won’t forgive me? I don’t want you putting medicine on me, forget it. You’re a man and your heart’s even smaller than mine. You weren’t home last night, I cleaned up the whole place by myself, did you see that? I never clean the house, and I even mopped the floor, and the cabinet accidentally smashed my foot. Look, it’s swollen like this already, and you’re still mad at me. You’re going too far."

"You’re the one who cleaned the place?" Sheng Sheng could hardly believe it.

Maimai nodded hard. "I cleaned for so long, and my hand even got cut by broken glass. Look, look, I’m not lying to you... Please don’t be mad at me anymore, okay?"

Fine, she was giving in!

If she had to cry, then so be it—losing face was better than being ignored. She really couldn’t stand him treating her like she was invisible; that feeling was unbearable!

Sheng Sheng looked at her fingers; sure enough, there were some injuries there, already healing, leaving shallow and deep little cuts that made his eyes ache even more.

And his heart—hurting so badly he could barely breathe!

She not only hadn’t left, she’d stayed to clean the house.

Sheng Sheng knew what kind of temper Maimai had. She had always been so proud, with such a fiery nature and such a stubborn streak. After he’d exploded at her like that yesterday, after he’d treated her that way, she had actually still cleaned up the house. Suddenly he felt like he didn’t recognize the Maimai in front of him anymore!
