Chapter 49: Axe of Slaughter [1]

Antarctica was the only continent that had not been wiped off the face of the Earth after the Fall.

Still, that didn’t mean it had escaped the catastrophe unscathed.

The continent had become one of the most dangerous regions on the planet, with countless portals appearing across its frozen wilderness. The monsters that emerged from those portals had gradually transformed the landscape into a hostile environment where even experienced Awakeners had to remain vigilant.

And now, a bunch of first-year students had been dropped right into the middle of it.

I couldn’t help but wonder what kind of person thought this was an appropriate first lesson.

Then again, considering our homeroom professor was Yuki Hayasaka, perhaps I shouldn’t have expected anything different.

The antartica was currently divided into three parts... Western, Central and Eastern Antartica.

Only western and central are reside with population and eastern antartica where we are teleported are filled with monsters.

There are two ways to escape from antartica, first fight our way through the central antartica and used portal that located there to teleport back to Nova City.

Second, swim through the chilling cold waters for five hours to reach the artificial island base of the world government and used portal that located there.

Second option might seems to be easy but it is not, the temperature of the water could freeze anyone and not to mention the horrors that dwell within the sea.

A loud sound echoed across the frozen landscape.

I turned my head.

For a moment, I couldn’t quite believe what I was seeing.

One of my classmates had jumped into the sea.

"...What?"

I stood there, staring at the spot where the student had disappeared beneath the dark water.

The sea was only a short distance away, separated from our position by a stretch of snow-covered ground. However, the temperature was low enough to freeze an ordinary human within minutes, and the water was even more dangerous.

Not to mention the monsters lurking beneath its surface.

Had that guy lost his mind?

"HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"

A student rushed towards the shoreline, shouting at the top of his lungs.

"COME BACK! YOU’LL DIE OUT THERE!"

The boy who had jumped into the water didn’t respond.

Instead, his head emerged from the waves, and he began swimming towards the distant horizon.

I stared at him for another few seconds.

Then I rubbed my forehead.

What an idiot.

I had just been thinking that nobody would be foolish enough to choose the second option, and someone had immediately proven me wrong.

Anyways, After giving one last look towards the guy who jumped into sea my gaze moves towards the 98 students that stood before me, I wasn’t including myself or that guy.

As I moved my gaze, I happened to have spot a particular group of people.

Joseph Goldberg, 1st rank among first years, Lilliy Ashfaq 4th rank with S rank potential and Jhon Snow 5th rank with S rank potential.

These three people are surrounded themselves by others students.

...few distance away from them stood Alice Storms, alone.

Many tried to approch her but no one couldn’t get close to her.

Her presence screm aura of sharp blade and anyone who tried to approch her hesitate for few moments before backing down.

She throws one last glanced towards the others before walking away.

Before, I didn’t have any weapons art but since my successor training started I was given to chance to choose a weapon art by father.

Of course, I would be given chance to choose weapon art from acadmy but not yet.

I clicked on weapons art section and short description of Axe Of Slaughter opened before me.

I had only masterd only minor realm in this last week this weapon art.

To achieve the minor realm, I had to swing Axe 100,000 time with bloodlust to intent to kill.

Even if I swung axe 100,000 times without any bloodlust, it would be meaningless, I wouldn’t achieve minor realm.

That’s why my bloodlust has grown this much.

There are five realm in weapon arts.

There was the minor realm, the great realm, the peak realm, and lastly the perfected realm of mastery.

Each realm signified a percentage of understanding of the whole weapon arts.

I only masterd this weapon art at 25%, which was a minor realm.

"Hey, why are you standing here with blank look on your face?"

While I was thinking about that, the Blond-haired guy from before suddenly came up to me with a smirk on his face.

I raised my eyebrows and didn’t do anything.

I wanted see what he wanted to say.

"You seem like a guy with some money. How about it?"

What nonsense was this guy spouting?

"10 million credits. If you give me 1 million credits, I’ll take you with me. Well, even 5 million is okay. I don’t get much from it, as I have to give some money to those fishermen. Look over there."
