Before the Fall of Earth, countless religions existed across the world, each with its own beliefs, traditions, and deities.

From the Greek Sun God Helios to Surya in the Vedas, Sol in Norse mythology, and Amaterasu in Japan, humanity had worshipped divine beings associated with the Sun, believing they governed the light, warmth, and life that sustained the world.

However, everything changed after the Fall of Earth.

Portals appeared across the planet, monsters emerged from unknown dimensions, and humanity discovered mana. The old world collapsed, giving way to an era of chaos and supernatural power.

And then humanity came to a cold realization.

The Gods were dead.

At least, that was what humanity believed.

It didn’t necessarily mean the Gods had never existed. Countless theories emerged regarding their existence, and over time, people discovered evidence suggesting that these divine beings had once walked the earth.

The most significant discovery, however, came from the Spirit Realm.

The legacies of the Gods.

’That must be it.’

Sofia suddenly came to a realization.

The Sword Domain was searching for the Sun God’s legacy.

As a newcomer to the ranks of Awakeners, Sofia knew little about the secrets that remained hidden from ordinary humanity. However, she had heard rumors that the Four Overlords of humanity possessed the legacies of ancient Gods.

Among them, only Dreck Storms had publicly acknowledged his connection to a divine legacy, claiming to possess the legacy of the War God.

The other three Overlords had remained silent, neither confirming nor denying the rumors surrounding their connections to the Gods.

If the Sword Domain was searching for the Sun God’s legacy, then perhaps it hoped to obtain the same kind of power.

Sofia couldn’t help but wonder what kind of power such a legacy could grant.

At that moment, Sofia break her chains of thoughts.

Swish!

Swish!

Sofia leaped over a fallen tree and landed heavily on the other side before immediately resuming her run.

Her lungs burned, and her legs trembled beneath her weight. The wound on her forehead had only recently healed, yet she was already pushing her battered body beyond its limits.

But she couldn’t stop.

Not when the monsters behind her were closing in.

"Why the hell are you so persistent?!"

She glanced over her shoulder.

Seven enormous wolves were charging through the wilderness, each nearly the size of a small house. Their dark fur fluttered in the wind, and their crimson eyes remained fixed on her fleeing figure.

Their paws struck the earth like falling boulders, leaving deep impressions in the soil. Trees snapped beneath their massive bodies, while smaller monsters scattered in terror as the pack tore through the forest.

Most terrifying of all, every single wolf was an E+ rank monster.

Sofia was only an E? rank Awakener who had recently advanced from F+ rank. Even if she were in perfect condition, fighting all seven would be nothing short of suicide.

And right now, she was nowhere near being in perfect condition.

’How did my life turn into this?’

She gritted her teeth and poured what little mana she had left into her legs.

Yesterday, she had barely survived the incident with the Rabid Mole. After meeting Noah and his subordinates, she had learned about the temporary camps established by the Sword Saint’s forces.

Her original plan had been simple: return to one of those camps, recover from her injuries, and investigate the information she had uncovered about the Sun God’s legacy.

Instead, she had gotten lost.

And while searching for the correct route, she had wandered straight into the territory of these monsters.

At first, she had mistaken them for ordinary wolves. But the moment she sensed their mana, she realized how badly she had misjudged the situation.

Before she could retreat, the pack had surrounded her.

Sofia had immediately abandoned any thought of fighting and fled.

Unfortunately, the wolves seemed unusually determined to catch her.

They had been chasing her for more than a day.

A whole day!

Her mana reserves were dwindling, and her muscles screamed with every movement. Meanwhile, the wolves continued charging forward with terrifying stamina, barely slowing down even when the terrain became difficult.

If she hadn’t used narrow passages between rocky outcrops to slow them down, they would have caught her long ago.

But she couldn’t rely on the terrain forever.

A sudden howl erupted behind her.

Awooo!

Sofia’s heart lurched.

One of the wolves had broken away from the pack and was charging through a narrower stretch of forest, rapidly closing the distance between them.

Its enormous jaws opened, revealing rows of sharp teeth.

’That one is faster!’

Sofia immediately changed direction, darting between two thick trees just as the wolf lunged.

CRASH!

Its jaws snapped shut where she had been standing a moment earlier. The beast slammed into a tree, shattering its trunk, but the brief delay gave Sofia enough time to escape.

Only a few steps.

That was all the distance she had gained.

The other six wolves were already approaching.

’Damn it! I can’t keep doing this!’

Sofia forced herself to think.

Fighting the pack was impossible. Even if she somehow managed to kill one wolf, the remaining six would tear her apart before she could recover.

Climbing a tree was equally pointless. The monsters were large enough to knock one down, and she had no idea how high they could jump.

As for hiding underground...

Sofia immediately dismissed the idea.

After her encounter with the Rabid Mole, she had developed a healthy fear of anything capable of moving beneath the earth.

She wasn’t about to discover whether wolves could dig.

’Think, Sofia! There has to be a way!’

She sprinted out of the forest and onto a rocky slope, hoping to find somewhere she could use to lose her pursuers.

Instead, she found herself standing at the edge of a cliff.

Sofia skidded to a halt.

It was dead end for her now.
