Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close
Chapter 606 Gun Pointed at Quentin Blackwood’s Head
"That’s her fate. What does it have to do with me?" Quentin Blackwood asked coldly.
Jason Summers chuckled. "Quentin, you’re still as cold-blooded as ever. You’re just going to abandon your savior like that?"
"I already repaid her favor last time." Quentin remained as indifferent as ever.
"If I kill her, she’ll have died because of you. Will you and Ivy Sherwood really be able to sleep soundly at night?" Jason continued his psychological manipulation.
However, this tactic didn’t work on Quentin. "You’d be the one killing her. What does that have to do with me and Ivy? It’s a life on your hands; are you really trying to force the blame onto others?"
Jason hadn’t expected Quentin to be so difficult to deal with. The man was completely impenetrable.
But it didn’t matter. Even if Quentin remained unmoved, Ivy wasn’t nearly as cold-blooded.
"She’d still be dying because of you. Even if you don’t care, do you think Ivy wouldn’t?"
Quentin remained unfazed. Even Jason’s goading was useless against him.
Quentin pulled out a gun and set it down right beside him. "Why don’t I give you a choice? Either hand over the antidote, or I kill you right now. Care to think about it, Mr. Summers?"
A flash of ruthlessness and frustration crossed Jason’s eyes. Keeping Quentin alive seemed to have been a mistake.
He stared at the gun. He hadn’t expected Quentin to carry such a weapon, and he assumed it was fully loaded.
"If you kill me, you’ll never get the antidote. Old Master Mercer will die either way. Do you think the Mercer Family will let you off? Will Ivy still want to be with you?" Jason said, closely observing Quentin’s expression.
Quentin sneered. He picked up the handgun, cocked it with lightning speed, and aimed it directly at Jason’s temple in one smooth, fluid motion.
"You worry entirely too much. You won’t be around to see any of that. You’d better worry about reincarnating into a good family in your next life."
Seeing Quentin look as though he were truly about to pull the trigger, Jason’s face contorted in panic.
Quentin was already notorious for his ruthlessness. Otherwise, there was no way a mere kid could have built such a massive empire back then.
Even with the antidote, Old Master Mercer only had a few years left to live anyway. It wasn’t entirely impossible for Quentin to kill him now just to eliminate a future threat.
With Quentin’s capabilities, even if he killed him, he could do it without leaving a single trace. He could easily rule it an accident, rendering Jason’s death completely meaningless.
Even if he had to die, he would drag Quentin and the Mercer Family down with him one day!
A trace of frustration at his own miscalculation flickered across Jason’s face.
"Wait!" he shouted frantically. "Quentin, I have something else to give you! Even if you refuse to save Claire Sherwood, surely you wouldn’t leave this behind?"
With that, Jason shifted and pulled something out from his back pocket.
Quentin’s eyes flickered. That was... his mother’s belonging.
"Put the gun down, and don’t try to snatch it, or I’ll smash it right now!" Jason held up the Jade Pendant, posing as if ready to throw it to the ground.
His mother only had two relics left behind. Aside from the string of Buddha Beads on Ivy’s wrist, this Jade Pendant was all that remained.
The last time he had tried to get it back from Claire, she had refused to hand it over. But now, this Jade Pendant was actually in Jason’s hands.
Back when his mother died, the Blackwood Family considered her belongings to be extremely unlucky, so they had burned everything to ashes. Quentin had wanted to keep something, but he was too young at the time. Held back by several people, he had been completely unable to break free. He could only watch helplessly as everything belonging to his mother turned to ash.
At the time, Silas Blackwood had viciously mocked him, calling him nothing but an illegitimate child and saying his mother wasn’t worthy of entering the Blackwood Family, so naturally, her belongings couldn’t be kept.
Even after her death, his mother’s ashes weren’t laid to rest in a tomb; instead, they were scattered into the sea.
While Quentin was distracted, Jason secretly untied the ropes binding him. Then, with a sudden twist, he tried to snatch the gun from Quentin’s hand.
Quentin used the opportunity to reach for the Jade Pendant in Jason’s grip, terrified that he would actually smash it.
It was incredibly important to him.
Both men were after what the other held. The moment Jason let go and the Jade Pendant dropped, Quentin reached out to catch it—allowing Jason to swiftly wrest the gun from his grip.
Quentin caught the Jade Pendant. A split second later, the muzzle of the gun was pointed directly at his head.
"I have the gun now! Let’s see how arrogant you can be!"
Quentin made sure the Jade Pendant in his hand was indeed his mother’s and that it hadn’t suffered any damage. Only then did he breathe a sigh of relief and lift his gaze to Jason.
Even at gunpoint, there was no fear in Quentin’s eyes. He didn’t seem afraid that Jason would shoot.
Jason demanded, "Convince Ivy to find what I want, or I’ll kill you right now!"
"Then shoot."
"Don’t think I won’t! Even if Ivy doesn’t care about Old Master Mercer’s life, surely she cares about yours! If I use you to threaten her, she’ll definitely hand that thing over!"
Without a shred of fear, Quentin even took a step closer, pressing his forehead right against the pitch-black muzzle.
"If you have the guts, then do it." Quentin was never one for wasting words.
He slipped the Jade Pendant safely into his pocket. Only then did he look back at Jason and make a move to disarm him.
"Don’t move! Don’t think I won’t shoot!" Jason panicked completely upon seeing Quentin’s absolute lack of fear.
Seeing that Quentin was about to snatch the weapon back, Jason disregarded everything else and pulled the trigger.
As he pulled it, he froze.
The expected gunshot never came. In fact, there was no reaction whatsoever.
"What..." Jason was dumbfounded.
"It’s a fake gun," Quentin said.
So earlier, he had just been bluffing on purpose to scare Jason. That was also why Quentin hadn’t bothered struggling when Jason snatched the gun away; he had simply let it go.
"You played me!" Jason roared furiously as realization dawned on him.
It wasn’t exactly Quentin playing him—Jason was the one who had insisted on stealing it.
Boiling with rage, Jason tried to attack. Having already taken a few blows from Miles Mercer earlier, his chest was brimming with pent-up fury.
He swung a fist at Quentin, but Quentin effortlessly pinned him to the floor.
Jason had brute strength, but he was simply no match for Quentin. Young, fit, and highly skilled in combat, Quentin didn’t even need two moves to subdue him. He pinned Jason down, immobilized both of his wrists, and pressed the sole of his polished leather shoe firmly against Jason’s neck, grinding the man’s face into the floor.
"Where is the antidote?" Quentin’s tone dripped with impatience. He truly wanted to kill Jason right now. Unfortunately, he still didn’t have the antidote, so he had to keep him alive for just a little while longer.
