"The phone is with the police. If you want to confirm, you’ll have to go over there and ask them."

"But, miss, you can see what’s happening here. Everyone’s busy, so please don’t get in the way."

"I’m not trying to cause trouble. I just want to confirm if the person in the accident is my friend. I’ve been calling his phone, but no one’s answering."

Ivy Sherwood was genuinely worried, and her legs were starting to feel weak.

Knowing she couldn’t get through here, Ivy Sherwood ran to another spot.

It was true that everyone was busy, and she knew she shouldn’t get in the way. She tried to slip past them but was blocked again.

"Please, I’m begging you, just let me take a look. I can’t get in touch with my boyfriend, I just want to confirm..."

Just then, the driver of the Maybach seemed to have been rescued. From a distance, Ivy Sherwood watched the stretcher. The man was wearing a suit, so she couldn’t tell his height. All she could see was the blood dripping, dripping, dripping down, until her whole world seemed to turn blood-red.

Someone nearby remarked, "He looks like he’s only in his twenties. What a shame."

In that instant, Ivy Sherwood’s legs gave out. Unable to stay upright, she started to collapse.

The next second, she fell into a familiar embrace.

A familiar voice whispered in her ear, "Ivy."

The faint scent of mint and cedar filled Ivy Sherwood’s senses, and her mind went blank with a loud BUZZ.

She didn’t dare to look, afraid that the voice and the embrace were just a hallucination.

Quentin Blackwood simply swept Ivy Sherwood into his arms and carried her to the edge of the road.

Ivy Sherwood wrapped her arms around his neck, staring at his face without blinking.

"You’re okay?"

Quentin Blackwood held her tightly, unwilling to let go. His voice was as cool and clear as ever. "I’m fine."

"Then why didn’t you answer my calls? If you’re okay, why didn’t you call me back? Are you trying to scare me to death? Do you think this is fun?" Ivy Sherwood couldn’t hold back any longer as tears streamed down her face.

’She had been worried sick. Hearing it was a Maybach and then hearing the reason for the crash, how could Ivy Sherwood not have thought of Quentin Blackwood?’

Quentin Blackwood reached out, wanting to stroke Ivy Sherwood’s hair, but stopped when he saw the blood on his hand.

’He truly hadn’t expected Ivy Sherwood to find out about the crash near the airport, let alone assume it was him and rush right over.’

The crash had happened right in front of him. It was so sudden, and Quentin Blackwood was very close. Someone was crying for help, and before the firefighters and paramedics could arrive, he had gone straight over to help with the rescue.

He’d left his phone in the car, so he had no idea how many times Ivy Sherwood had called him.

Quentin Blackwood was busy helping until he heard someone mention a young woman looking for her boyfriend, who seemed frantic and was trying to force her way onto the scene.

That’s when Quentin Blackwood saw Ivy Sherwood’s small figure. He rushed over immediately, just in time to catch her as she was about to fall.

"I’m sorry. It’s my fault." Quentin Blackwood held her tight. In that moment, his heart was completely stirred by Ivy Sherwood.

Ivy Sherwood opened her mouth and bit down on Quentin Blackwood’s neck, as if it were the only way to feel that he was truly alive.

"The young man in a hurry in the Maybach, that wasn’t me. I was just helping out and didn’t see my phone."

"Ivy, I’m really happy you were so worried about me. I heard everything just now. You were afraid something happened to your boyfriend, so your boyfriend... is me?"

Quentin Blackwood’s voice was low. While others were busy with the rescue, it was as if the two of them were alone, sharing secrets.

Ivy Sherwood was still in Quentin Blackwood’s arms. Her heart, which had been lodged in her throat, finally settled.

"Don’t get the wrong idea. I never said that."

"Everyone here knows a young woman was looking for her boyfriend. If you weren’t looking for me, who else could it have been?"

"Ivy, the truth is, you still like me. You have feelings for me, don’t you?"

"You’re reading too much into it," Ivy Sherwood said, her tone deliberately cold. "I just heard on the radio that there was an accident here. Since you’re staying in Lustre, I feel a little responsible, so I came to check. I’ve already forgotten all about you. Don’t flatter yourself."

But with tears still clinging to her eyelashes and a worried expression so clearly etched on her face, her words weren’t very convincing.

"The last time, when you were framed by Charlie Rhodes, you confessed to me. You said you liked me."

Ivy Sherwood’s eyes widened. ’When did that happen? Why don’t I have any memory of it at all?’

"You’re lying!" ’There’s no way I would have ever said that.’

"Am I lying? Ask your own heart. Can you really say you weren’t worried about me? Can you really say you’ve forgotten me?" Quentin Blackwood’s voice was tender and coaxing.

’He had always known that Ivy Sherwood was a person who felt things deeply.’

"I didn’t... Mmph..."

Before Ivy Sherwood could finish, Quentin Blackwood leaned down and captured her lips with his.

His masculine scent washed over her, and Ivy Sherwood’s long eyelashes fluttered.

’She couldn’t lie to herself. She still liked Quentin Blackwood. A lot.’

’This man had a charm all his own. And while Quentin Blackwood’s past words had truly broken her heart, making her feel dead inside, she had only buried those feelings in the deepest part of her heart. She had never truly let him go.’

’When she heard about the crash today, Ivy Sherwood had been frantic with worry. She was so scared for him, so afraid that something had happened to him.’

Quentin Blackwood’s kiss was brief. He soon released her, only to pull her back into his embrace.

His heart pounded in his chest. He was truly, deeply happy that Ivy Sherwood had come for him.

"It’s okay. As long as I know, that’s enough." He knew she had a sharp tongue but a soft heart.

Ivy Sherwood subtly reached out and clutched the fabric of Quentin Blackwood’s shirt.

She took a deep breath. When she opened her eyes again, Ivy Sherwood said, "A three-month probationary period."

"What?"

"You want to be my boyfriend, right? You get a three-month probationary period. If you do well, I’ll agree."

"Really? Ivy, are you serious?!" For Quentin Blackwood, this was an incredible, wonderful surprise.

"If you don’t want to, then forget it." Ivy Sherwood regretted the words as soon as they left her mouth. ’How could I give Quentin Blackwood another chance?’

"I’m willing! I heard you loud and clear, no take-backs." A smile played on Quentin Blackwood’s lips. ’Is this considered finding my own good fortune in someone else’s disaster?’

’In truth, Ivy Sherwood didn’t regret it that much. This was her giving Quentin Blackwood a chance, but it was also giving herself one.’

’Three months. If that time proved they really weren’t meant to be, then Ivy Sherwood would truly let go.’

"You’re injured?" She finally noticed the metallic scent of blood and saw that Quentin Blackwood’s hands were covered in red.

She anxiously grabbed his hand, thinking he was the one who was hurt.

Quentin Blackwood said, "It’s not my blood. I was just helping out. The scene is pretty gruesome. Is the smell too much? Are you feeling unwell?"
