Chapter 1200, The Desolate Ancient God Must Be Eliminated

Lu Fan thought about it, and felt that Ouyang Bai Ge’s analysis had its points.
If the Desolate Ancient God were truly powerful enough that the Dragon Domain could not suppress it, the Dragon Domain would have fallen long ago. One could presume that even now, the Desolate Ancient God was frustrated by its inability to spread outward and claim more of the Dragon Domain’s Map.
Every time it attempted to expand beyond its current bounds, it would be intercepted by the Bronze Dragon King and receive a thorough thrashing for its trouble.
At this point, Ouyang Bai Ge added another consideration. “Still, we cannot celebrate too early. The Desolate Ancient God’s nature means that it grows stronger through battle. Any attack that lands upon it will be absorbed, converted into energy that raises its degree of awakening and enhances its own power. So the more it fights, the more energy it inadvertently can feed on, becoming resources it converts into further growth. If we waste time only being able to hold it back, the Dragon Domain’s destruction is only a matter of time. Every battle is effectively supplying it with the energy to grow stronger, and there will come a day when its power surpasses that of the Dragon Kings.”
She paused, and then her expression suddenly darkened as a bolder conjecture took shape. “In fact, I am beginning to suspect that the Desolate Ancient God Power may already exceed that of Dragon Kings. The reason it remains trapped might not be because it is being suppressed and unable to leave. It might be that it wishes to continue exchanging blows with the Dragon Kings, accumulating strength while in hiding.”
The Bronze Dragon King nodded deeply at this, and said, “Now that you put it this way, I do actually notice something… In our recent clashes with those masses of mud, we have indeed found it growing stronger…”
“Originally, any one of our warriors could dispatch the Giant Dragon Carcasses it created with ease. But now, those Giant Dragon Carcasses are comparable in strength to our own warriors. In fact, dealing with them in a one-on-one fight is quite a struggle to some. So, you might be right. If the fighting continues, they will gradually grow to a point where even one-on-one fights against our warriors might become unmanageable.”
“I had been wondering why the same enemies could be growing so rapidly. To think that every time we battle, we are just helping them to grow stronger…”
At this, the Bronze Dragon King’s tone shifted abruptly as she posed a new question. “Then if that is the case, don’t we need to end this battle as quickly as possible? Yet, we still do not know what we need to do to bring this battle to an end and slay this so-called Desolate Ancient God.”
Ouyang Bai Ge smiled. “That is precisely the reason we have come here. I know the Desolate Ancient God rather well. Engaging with the masses of mud its body produces may consume a portion of its Ancient God Power, but beyond that, it serves no real purpose. Its Ancient God Power can recover gradually with time. While the Desolate Ancient God uses the energy absorbed from your battles to raise its own degree of awakening, its Ancient God Power takes time to replenish itself, meaning it is effectively getting stronger without any real cost if it just takes its time.”
“Continuing to fight on these terms is naturally pointless. To slay the Desolate Ancient God, we must find its True Body and destroy it. This will force it to slumber for at least several million years without waking.”
“Furthermore, as fellow Ancient Gods, we are capable of stripping it of its Divine Seat and bestowing it upon another person. If we do that, the Desolate Ancient God would disappear from this world.”
“So, we need to find its True Body then.” The Bronze Dragon King scratched her head. Though she was now in her Human Form, her every movement and mannerism remained entirely that of a Giant Dragon.
“This idea had actually occurred to me before. I once ventured deep into the Valley of Life together with the Shadow Dragon King and my own guards. We have two goals: to check on the Life Dragon King’s condition, and to locate the True Body of that mass of mud. After all, we both felt that any calamity in the Dragon Domain must have its source, and rather than meaninglessly fighting lifeless Giant Dragon Carcasses on the outer perimeter, it would be far better to find that source and stamp it out.”
“Yet we searched the Valley of Life for a very long time and found not the slightest trace of any source. What you refer to as the True Body was nowhere to be seen. In fact, finding its True Body will not be that simple, right?”
Ouyang Bai Ge nodded. “Of course not. The Desolate Ancient God’s True Body can dissolve into its own mud and flow freely, concealing its presence. So long as it does not wish to be found, most Ancient Gods would struggle to locate it. Even through an Ancient God’s spiritual threads, pinning down its position might actually not be possible.”
“But, in preparation for confronting the Desolate Ancient God, I have already refined a special variety of Void Insects. Using these Void Insects, we will be able to pinpoint its location with ease.”
She paused, then continued. “Speaking of it, you venturing into the Valley of Life was truly reckless. Fortunately you went in early on. At that time, the Desolate Ancient God likely lacked the power to devour you. If it had been confident that its strength exceeded yours, it would definitely have tried to absorb you the moment you ventured deep into the Valley of Life.”
“Having Dragon Kings like yourselves get devoured… its strength would likely exceed even wildest imagination. If that happens, we would be faced with yet another enemy beyond our capacity to handle.”
*Hahaha!* The Bronze Dragon King laughed out loud. “When you put it that way, we might actually not be so unlucky!”
Lu Fan smiled. “It is not a matter of luck. It also comes down to the fact that when you identified the problem, you were committed to resolving it.”
“Had your determination to stop the Desolate Ancient God been any less firm, had you not gone to address the problem the moment it appeared, then by now the Desolate Ancient God would have long since surpassed anyone’s ability to contain it. In fact, containing it would have become nearly impossible. Even our arrival at this moment might not be too late. Sadly it will not be easy. Eliminating the Desolate Ancient God is still only theoretically possible.”
The Bronze Dragon King waved a hand and firmly said, “It is not merely theory or possibly. We must completely annihilate it. For all of you to have come to assist us in clearing out this Ancient God is basically the Will of Heaven. Our Dragon Domain will undoubtedly survive this calamity!”
