Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer
Chapter 1152, Han Ke’s True Strength
Translator: Silavin
“How is it this tough!?”
One of the Sacred Jiang Family’s elites stared on, momentarily struck dumbfounded by what unfolded before him.
Yet within moments, he shook himself free of his disbelief. This was no time to be stunned.
If they could not pierce through into the enemy backlines, if they could not neutralise the Supporter and Summoner, their casualties would only mount. This window was only closing. They had already fought hard just to lock down the Golden Asura King, to have this fleeting opportunity. Once the Golden Asura King broke free, they would have failed and there would not be another opportunity.
“Everyone, give everything you got! We need to shatter that barrier!” His roar cut across as he gathered his strength, preparing to unleash a Divine Skill upon Han Ke.
Beside him, another Sacred Jiang Family Player echoed. “That’s right! Hold nothing back! Focus everything we got and fire!”
The rest responded as one. Skills blazing into existence across the field, the air saturated with the luminescence of power reaching critical mass.
Han Ke’s expression shifted. Being targeted by this many High Level Players was far from comfortable.
Ouyang Bai Ge, however, remained composed at her side. She spoke in a quiet voice. It was just a few calm words telling Han Ke there was nothing to worry about.
Then, her fingers moved.
Across the mass of Sacred Jiang Family attackers, Void Rifts opened up in rapid succession, each one bleeding into the Void World.
From their depths came insectile sounds of *chittering, clicking, scrabbling*. These Void Insects poured through in a torrent, every shape and size imaginable, descending upon the Sacred Jiang Family members in a wave that left them no room to breathe.
Some bore the silhouette of scorpions, greatly armoured, with limbs ending in razor joints or cleaver-like pincers. Their Attributes were terrifyingly high.
Some of these Void Insects resembled scorpions, clad in hard shells, wielding razor-sharp jointed legs or blade-like pincers as weapons, with Attributes so frightening as to defy belief.
Others resembled worms, appearing soft and feeble, yet they could effortlessly carve a bloody hole in their targets and inject their own venom.
That venom was extraordinarily potent. Once infected, the victim’s Status Effects would plummet wildly, with all manner of Attributes dropping severely.
Some Void Insects were nothing more than severed tentacles, surging out from the Void Rifts in a swarm, coiling tightly around those of the Sacred Jiang Family.
Along one side of these tentacles grew serrated edges as sharp as teeth, and between those teeth sat mouthparts capable of releasing a corrosive liquid.
Once bound by these tentacles, those mouthparts would clamp down mercilessly upon the flesh of the Sacred Jiang Family Players, making it nearly impossible for them to escape.
Although these tentacles possessed no venom, being restrained by them while one’s body was eroded away by that corrosive liquid was an experience no less horrific.
With all manner of Void Insects unleashed at once, the Sacred Jiang Family immediately suffered catastrophic losses.
Even so, a portion of them reacted in time, dispersing from their positions and dodging the assault of the Void Insects.
Seeing how outrageously powerful Ouyang Bai Ge was, casually producing so many terrifying Summons with a single gesture, they all marked her as their primary target.
Those who had already charged their Skills let out a collective roar and released them, slamming them directly into Han Ke’s protective barrier.
This time, what everyone unleashed were Fifth Profession Skills, or even Sixth Profession Skills. Their power was worlds apart from what had come before.
Even though Han Ke’s barrier was exceptionally tough, she was ultimately not a Player specialising in Defence.
To be fair, Support Specialised Players did possess some self-preservation Capabilities.
However, those Skills could not possibly be especially resilient. At most, they could offer a basic degree of self-protection. If one truly needed to survive against enemies, one generally still required the protection of a Player with a Combat Specialised Profession.
If someone could both Support others and possess extraordinarily strong self-preservation capabilities, that would frankly be far too overpowered.
And so, under the barrage of the Sacred Jiang Family’s powerful Skills, Han Ke’s protective barrier finally shattered with a resounding *boom!*
A chorus of triumphant cries rose from the Sacred Jiang Family, and without wasting a single moment, they surged forward in a swarm, charging towards Han Ke and Ouyang Bai Ge to kill them.
Han Ke was briefly thrown into a fluster. This truly showed how inexperienced she was in combat.
But then a thought struck her. [If everyone around me is that amazing. If I panic now and lose my head, would that not prove I have no right to stand shoulder to shoulder with them in battle!?]
With that thought, she steadied her heart, and following the combat techniques Ye Wuxian had previously taught her, she began to mount a measured counter.
As Ye Wuxian swung the Moon in her hand, beams of moonlight cascaded down, condensing into curtain after curtain of light to obstruct the advancing Sacred Jiang Family Players.
These light curtains were not as solid as the barrier from before, nor could they, like that barrier, wrap around her completely, rendering her utterly impenetrable to the enemy.
But their advantage lay in how swiftly they could be casted. Han Ke needed only to wave her hand casually, and several curtains of light would fall into place, blocking the enemy.
Faced with these curtains, the enemy could not simply blast them apart with a single casual Skill, and so could only choose to navigate around them.
In doing so, the enemy’s pace naturally slowed, buying Han Ke far more time.
With curtain after curtain of light falling into place, Han Ke turned and swung her arm, and the Moon in her hand burst forth with radiance once more.
The radiance transformed into crimson tendrils, striking at those of the Sacred Jiang Family.
The Sacred Jiang Family Players were already weaving their way through the countless curtains of light while warily guarding against Ouyang Bai Ge’s Skills.
Han Ke casually launching an Attack Skill was genuinely beyond their expectations.
And so, in the first instant, quite a number of the Sacred Jiang Family Players were struck by those crimson tendrils and sent flying sideways.
The Damage from the crimson tendrils was not especially high, but the Knockback was harsh.
Anyone struck by them would be launched dozens of metres through the air. Moreover, the number of crimson tendrils Han Ke released was beyond counting, like a dense shower of shooting stars.
The Sacred Jiang Family Players were already hampered in their movement by the curtains of light, and faced with so many crimson tendrils, they naturally had no way to dodge them all. Every last one was sent flying, making it virtually impossible to get close to Han Ke and Ouyang Bai Ge.
After being sent flying, the Void Insects summoned by Ouyang Bai Ge closed in on them once more, launching a slaughter upon these Sacred Jiang Family Player, inflicting grievous losses upon them in short order.
Seeing this, Ouyang Bai Ge glanced at Han Ke, nodding and smiling. “Not bad.”
“A Player with a Lifestyle Specialised Profession has managed to grow to this level in such a short time. Amazing.”
Han Ke, receiving such praise, was immediately overjoyed inside, and she smiled back at Ouyang Bai Ge. “Many thanks for the kind words, Teacher Ouyang.”
“Seriously, it is Xiao Ying and the others who have always been teaching me how to fight. It is because of them that I was able to help everyone today.”
“This kind of combat sense is not something that can simply be taught by others,” Ouyang Bai Ge said, shaking her head. “Sacrificing your own Skill Power and converting it instead into Knockback, as well as increasing quantity and speed to push enemies back rather than seriously injure them. It is clear that you understood perfectly well that this battle did not require your Damage Output. You only need to preserve yourself and push the enemies into the range where my Void Insects can attack them.”
“That kind of judgement over the state of battle already far surpasses that of some Frontliners. Making a judgement like that indicates you have a certain talent for combat.”
She paused here, and Ouyang Bai Ge smiled. “A pity that you started out as having a Lifestyle Specialised Profession. Had you begun with a Combat Specialised Profession, perhaps your achievements would not have fallen short of anyone else’s.”
