Chapter 82: Strange Area

As he moved deeper, Evan came across many groups of magical beasts.

Most of these magical beasts were unranked, and since there wasn’t anything to gain by killing them, he simply avoided them and continued moving deeper into the forest.

Around half an hour later, Evan suddenly stopped and looked in front of him with a frown.

In front of him, there was a massive grass field that stretched for around 5 × 5 km.

Evan found it very strange because this area looked completely different from the rest of the forest.

There wasn’t a single tree in this grass field, making it look like a completely different place from the Dream Forest.

As Evan looked at the other end of the grass field, he could see the trees appearing once again as the grass field ended. But inside, there was nothing but tall grass.

"Why does this place look like someone picked it up from a different area and placed it in the middle of the Dream Forest..." Evan muttered under his breath as he found this grass field completely out of place amid the tree-filled forest.

Moreover, the grass in the field was around one meter tall, making the entire place look extremely strange.

"This place looks like a perfect place for monsters to hide inside and ambush anyone who tries to pass through here."

Evan carefully considered whether he should go through the grass field or simply change direction and continue moving along the side.

Rubbing his chin, he thought for a moment before deciding to check out just what this grass field was.

’Anyway, I have Wind Detection, so I won’t be ambushed. And if something goes wrong, I will immediately fly away,’ He tthought before taking a deep breath.

Evan firmly held Black Star in his hand and activated Wind Detection to its full range before entering the grass field.

As he entered the grass field, Evan didn’t sense any presence nearby, but he still kept his guard up and continued moving toward the other end of the field, where he could see the trees once again.

For the first minute, nothing happened, and Evan crossed one-fourth of the grass field easily.

He didn’t even sense any magical beasts inside, as if other than him, there was no one in this grass field.

’Is it just a normal grass field?’ Evan thought when he had almost crossed half of the grass field without encountering anything.

But just then, he suddenly felt an intense sense of danger and without a second thought, he immediately jumped to the left.

Shhh!

Evan rolled across the ground and quickly stood up.

He looked at the location where he had been standing just a moment ago and felt a chill run down his spine.

The ground there was melting because of a strange green liquid.

Evan quickly looked toward his right, where he had just sensed something appear, and his eyes widened in shock.

A twenty-meter-long green snake was staring at him with its deep yellow, serpentine eyes.

The snake was covered in hard green scales, allowing it to blend perfectly with the surrounding green grass and making it almost impossible for anyone to notice it without looking closely.

But Evan wasn’t stunned because of the snake’s enormous size or its tough scales.

He was stunned because he hadn’t sensed its presence with Wind Detection before the snake attacked him.

He could clearly sense the snake’s presence right now through wind detection.

But before it attacked him, he hadn’t known that such a large magical beast was right beside him.

It was as if this snake hadn’t been present in the grass field before, only to suddenly appear behind him out of nowhere and launch an attack.

Though he was shocked, Evan quickly recovered, as he knew it wasn’t the time to think about how this thing had appeared there.

Evan carefully looked at the snake, and his eyes narrowed.

’Level 40. But its aura is far stronger than any Level 40 magical beast I have faced before.’

Seeing Evan staring at it, the snake hissed and opened its mouth.

Woosh!

A ball of corrosive green poison shot out of its mouth, rapidly heading toward Evan.

Evan sneered when he saw this, and his figure disappeared from where he had been standing.

"Do you really think I’ll just stand there and wait for your attack to hit me?"

Evan’s voice echoed from beside the snake, and before it could react, it felt someone standing on top of its head.

Holding Black Star, Evan looked at the diamond-shaped head of the snake and slashed down with his sword.

Clang!

A sound like iron striking iron rang out when the sword came into contact with the snake’s scales.

Hiss!

The snake hissed in pain as Black Star cut through its scale and left a wound on its head, drawing out a small trail of blood.

Evan frowned when he saw this, as he hadn’t expected the scales to be so tough.

But he didn’t care and the next second, Black Star disappeared from his hand, and he clenched his fist.

’If sharp attacks are not useful, then a blunt attack will do.’

Wind Aura appeared around Evan’s fist, and he punched down at the snake’s head.

BOOOOOOM!

A booming sound echoed through the grass field, and the snake’s head was smashed into the ground, making it shake its entire body in an attempt to throw Evan off.

Many of its scales shattered in an instant, and blood poured out from its head.

Seeing that his attack was working, Evan was about to attack again when his expression suddenly changed and his eyes glowed green.

Bang!

A Wind Barrier appeared behind him, and the instant it appeared, something struck it with such force that the entire Wind Barrier trembled violently.

Evan quickly turned his head to look behind him and saw another green snake that had attacked him.

And just like before, he couldn’t sense its presence before it attacked him.

It was as if it hadn’t been in the grass field before but had suddenly appeared there out of nowhere.

Evan was confused about where these snakes were coming from, but the newly appeared snake didn’t give him any chance to think and attacked him again.

Seeing that the Wind Barrier he had created was on the verge of breaking, he had no choice but to move away from the first snake’s head to avoid the incoming corrosive poison ball.

As Evan moved away, the poison ball landed on top of the first snake’s head, making Evan’s lips curl upward.

"Stupid..." He said with a smile and waited for the snake to roll around in pain.

But the next second, his smile stiffened as he saw that the corrosive poison didn’t harm the snake.

Instead, as the poison ball landed on its head, the broken scales from Evan’s earlier punch began to heal, and the blood stopped flowing from the wound.

Evan’s eyes widened, and his mouth couldn’t help but twitch.

’So they can even heal themselves with their poison...’

He took a deep breath, and a cold gleam flashed in his eyes.

’I should finish them before more of these guys appear here out of nowhere.’

Wind Aura covered Evan’s entire body, and Wings of Wind unfolded on his back.

But this time, he didn’t use Wings of Wind to fly. Instead, he used them to increase his movement speed.

He took a step forward, and his figure turned into a green blur.

Before the second snake could react, Evan appeared in front of its right eye and punched it with his full power.

BOOM!

The snake’s eye burst into a cloud of blood mist from the impact, and the snake fell to the ground, hissing in pain.

The first snake immediately tried to attack Evan when it saw this, but—

"Shackles of Wind!"

The first snake’s body stiffened, making it unable to move.

The restriction only lasted for a second, but that one second was all Evan needed to finish his job.

Right after using Shackles of Wind to stop the first snake, he jumped on top of the second snake, which was hissing in pain on the ground.

A cold gleam flashed in his eyes, and a golden glow appeared around his fist, bringing a mountain-like pressure to the surrounding area along with it.

"Sky Fall!" Evan shouted and punched down at the hissing snake with all his strength.

The snake felt an impending sense of doom and tried to struggle, but before it could do anything—

BOOM!

A thundering sound echoed throughout the grass field as Evan’s fist tore through the snake’s scales and created a massive hole in its head.

Shattered fragments of scales, flesh, and blood flew in every direction as the snake hissed loudly in pain.

"Wind Blade."

Evan waved his hand, and a wind blade plunged into the hole at the top of its head, destroying its head from the inside.

The snake struggled for only a moment before it stopped moving, its enormous body becoming completely still.
