World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability
Chapter 363 Chaos On The Surface
The officials were stunned, staring at Selene blankly.
"We should... leave them alone?"
Selene nodded, walking to the central building of the camp with Miguel, Richard, and the tamed beasts behind her.
"They’ll be fine, I presume. So stop wasting mana and energy on healing them."
The men glanced at each other, then nodded. One of them quickly departed to relay the orders while the rest followed Selene’s group.
Upon getting inside, they all sat around the table and began serious discussions.
Crossing her legs, Selene folded her arms and asked, "Has any ammunition been used since the last time I checked in with Chief Administrator Gwen?"
"No, ma’am." A woman stood up and replied. "We haven’t been unlucky enough to encounter any trouble that requires us to send more than just Evolvers."
Selene nodded in satisfaction. "There will be an amendment to how you use the absorption technique to increase your stats."
The officials blinked, surprised. "Why, ma’am?"
Shrugging, Selene explained. "Your way of using it is inefficient. From now on, you are only allowed to use it when you’re at the peak of your Tier. Until then, the technique is strictly banned. Anyone caught using it to raise their levels quickly will be removed from the army and punished heavily. Is that clear?"
They glanced at each other, then nodded in compliance. It wasn’t like they could refuse anyway.
Still wearing her frosty expression, Selene glanced at the woman and ordered.
"Keep a tight watch on the walls. The city might be attacked, so be prepared."
The woman’s eyes widened, and she quickly rushed out to relay the order. After all, she was the one in charge of the city’s security.
"Good. You’re dismissed."
Selene said to the others, then closed her eyes as though they didn’t exist. The officials quickly took their leave while maids came to serve food.
Miguel and Richard refused, and Selene showed no inclination to accept the food too.
"So what’re we going to do?" Richard asked, turning to her.
Without opening her eyes, she answered him. "Wait. We wait till there’s something worth our attention."
The two young men glanced at each other, then nodded.
............
The world wasn’t just evolving in Brooklyn alone. The change was global, with over half of the remaining human population falling unconscious after being unable to adapt to the sudden increase in mana density in the atmosphere.
At the same time, zombies and mutated beasts seemed to be stirred up. In places like Jersey City where zombie hordes still existed, it was absolute chaos.
The zombies began evolving rapidly, with all the unranked zombies being pushed into Tier One and gaining a yellow soul crystal on their foreheads. The stronger ones were pushed again, and some broke through to Tier Two, becoming wilder and stronger
The most horrifying part was when several Tier Two zombies began evolving to Tier Three. Not only were they stronger, but they were also smarter. However, along with their intelligence came a competition to determine who would dominate and lead the horde.
Very quickly, battles broke out even among zombies all over the world, and the leadership of each horde was being contested.
In the Bayonne Camp, Bliss couldn’t help but feel dread. Even from the camp, they could feel the vibrations and distant roars of the Jersey City zombies embroiled in battle.
She was already completing her evolution requirements to Tier Three, but she wasn’t even close to completing them.
Standing in the corridor of her house, she sighed and looked at the sun rising from the horizon.
’Although it’s selfish, I wish those zombies would attack Newark first before thinking about coming here at all.’
Deep down, she wasn’t sure. After all, Bayonne was the closest human settlement to the zombies. If they descended upon her camp, she wasn’t sure they’d be able to survive it.
’Tsk...’
All around the world, some battles for zombie horde lordship had been completed, and the hordes moved swiftly, targeting human settlements around them.
As the sun basked a part of the world in its light and disappeared from the view of others, many human camps were besieged and wiped out without being able to put up much resistance.
The zombies had been given a boost, but humanity had received nothing. The only indirect rewards they could get were stats and soul crystals from killing mutated beasts or zombies.
The mutated beast armies weren’t idle either. They fought amongst themselves, killing and eating each other until there was only one apex predator in the horde.
With that settled, they immediately launched attacks against zombie hordes or human settlements around them.
That particular day, the world was washed in blood. Not every camp that was attacked was wiped out, of course. Even in America, anomalies existed.
-Flagstaff, Arizona-
A survivor camp was created atop one of the flat mountains, ruled by a man who was by no means special before the apocalypse.
Because of the terrain advantage, they had been able to preserve themselves during the early stages of the apocalypse, up till this moment.
"Hehe..."
Standing outside the camp walls, a hefty man chuckled as he stared at the zombie horde gathering below. They numbered in the thousands, almost reaching a hundred thousand.
Meanwhile, the camp behind him only had a little over three thousand Evolvers in the army.
"What a nuisance."
The man sneered, scanning the zombies for their leader. Soon, he found the right one.
It was a female zombie with pale skin, a curvy figure, and charming red eyes.
The man clicked his tongue, resting his elbow on his poleaxe as he stood. "What a shame. If only she were a human, I would have added her to my harem of bitches."
The zombie seemed to have heard him and looked up. Her red eyes burned with rage, but a charming smile formed on her face.
She began walking up the mountain, and at the same time, the horde rushed after her.
"We’re going to have a nice meal."
The man smirked at her statement, then whistled. The mountain trembled, and two serpentine creatures burst out from within the rocks, barring the path of the zombie horde.
The female Zombie King stared at them in shock, then frowned. Both basilisks were Tier Three, with none weaker than her. The man was also Tier Three himself.
Could she win?
Her headless body dropping to the ground an hour later answered the question.
