World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability
Chapter 347: Regrets
Leon didn’t leave immediately, though. He secretly smuggled away the corpses of the leaders and the twins, extracting everything he could from them.
Alexander’s memory was important. After all, the method to absorbing Origin from soul crystals was within him. Besides, he had a hunch that Ymir was the Patron God behind the deceased camp leader.
"That was very decisive of you to kill an Envoy of a Higher Entity."
Leon rolled his eyes at Thyra’s words.
"I would have killed Agnus too if he had been hostile. But he’s a good kid."
Raising an eyebrow, Thyra shot him a look. "Aren’t you a kid too? You aren’t even twenty-two yet."
Leon blinked. "Oh? I’ve been feeling very old lately. Tsk. Must be those weird dreams."
"Dreams?" She tilted her head. "What dreams?"
Waving his hand, Leon disposed of the corpses into a pit, then covered it.
"I’ll tell you later. It’s about time we head back home."
She nodded and fell silent.
Soon, Leon regrouped with the others and prepared to leave. Reymond and Miguel had chosen to stay behind, while Cassie, Marie, Richard, and Fel were going to be following him back.
Swampy was also left behind, since it seemed to be enjoying the natural lake present here.
By one o’clock in the afternoon, they departed again, returning to Eternal Night City. By evening, they entered the city with pride, welcomed by the people who already knew they would be victorious.
Once again, the members of the Titanbreaker Legion were allowed to go rest with their families.
After all, they truly needed a long break. This was the reason why Leon hadn’t been willing to leave them behind in the Park Slope Camp.
As the main group headed to the villa, Thyra glanced at Marie behind them, then turned to Leon.
’Hmmm...’
Her thoughts remained unknown, though a glint of mischief passed through her eyes. Immediately after getting back, everyone went to take a thorough shower.
Although being victorious felt nice, the smell of war wasn’t pleasant in the slightest. When dinner was prepared, they all gathered again to eat.
There were no great discussions since it was just the small group.
After dinner, Marie stared at Leon for a moment, then said goodnight and went upstairs with her daughter.
Leon didn’t know why, but it felt like something was wrong. He scratched his head, then shrugged.
’Must have been the wind.’
Surely, he knew it wasn’t. He was simply giving himself silly excuses. He also retreated to the bedroom after the dinner, finally having some alone time with Thyra.
They both sat on the bed, facing each other with serious expressions.
"Well, is there something you want to ask me?" Thyra asked.
Leon hesitated for a moment, then opened his mouth. "Epics. What exactly do they do? Are they the same? Are there ranks? I have so many questions about them."
Humming, Thyra explained. "They aren’t the same, there are ranks beyond Epics, and they have different functions."
Leon was about to ask another question when she interrupted him. "Leon, you shouldn’t concern yourself about Epics for now. At your level, they’re not something you should dream of. Personally, I wouldn’t want you to be in a situation that could get you to create an Epic."
Leon blinked in disbelief. "What? Why?"
"Look at what happened on that world you went to," she said. "Epics are never made from simple events. Don’t underestimate them."
Understanding that she simply didn’t want him to be in danger, he nodded.
"Alright. Since you’re Tier Seven, how many Epics do you have, though?"
Thyra shook her head. "I have none. I only have one Legend."
Leon paused. "...A Legend?"
Thyra remained silent, and seeing that, he sighed. "Fine, fine. I won’t ask about it. Maybe when I get one too, you’ll tell me."
She rolled her eyes. "I don’t know whether to call you arrogant or foolish."
"Arrogant, please." He chuckled.
Thyra looked outside the window, then asked, "What are you going to do with that woman?"
"Huh?" Leon frowned. "What woman?"
She shot him a look. "You know who I’m talking about. Marie."
"Oh..." Leon gasped, then lowered his head. "There’s nothing I can do. I’ll keep my distance and make our relationship work only."
"Oh, really?" Thyra mused. "Why would you do that?"
Now, it was his turn to shoot her a look. "What do you mean why? I’m being committed to you."
Thyra sighed. "Well, I understand you. After all, your Earthly morals differ quite a bit."
"Um...?"
Seeing him still confused, she explained. "What I mean to say is that I wouldn’t want you to blind yourself with me and have regrets."
"Regrets? Why would I regret loving you?" He asked, baffled.
Thyra stared at him with a gentle smile, then asked, "How old are you?"
"Uh... I’m twenty-one."
She reached forward and gently stroked his cheek. "You’re so young, Leon. You aren’t old yet. When you’ve lived for several decades or even centuries, you’ll understand what I’m saying."
He fell silent, simply listening to her.
"I don’t want you to look at me and decide that I’m the only person you’re allowed to love. If one day you find yourself caring about someone else, then don’t pretend you don’t."
Leon opened his mouth, then closed it again. He wanted to refute her, but knew that would be hypocritical.
He was a human, and humans were made with flaws. A human’s emotions couldn’t be accurately controlled. They could only be disciplined over time. He had been ignoring the faint attraction he had for others, solely focusing his gaze and love on Thyra.
Still, that didn’t mean he could lie and deny them.
Seeing his expression, Thyra sighed. "Leon, I know you. You don’t chase people. If someone doesn’t come to you, you’ll simply walk past them. I believe you aren’t a womanizer."
"Uh... well, yeah. I have a passive viewpoint on relationships." He agreed.
Thyra smiled faintly, then said, "If your heart genuinely wants someone, don’t cut off the feeling. I know how it feels. I’ve seen my father experience it, and I don’t want you to be the same."
Leon finally sighed. "Alright. I’ll think about it tomorrow or something."
Grinning, Thyra pounced on him, pushing his back onto the bed.
"That said... I’m your first, so know how well you’d treat me. Otherwise, I’ll kidnap you once you’re Tier Five and lock you away in my basement."
Leon chuckled, arms around her waist. "I don’t have a yandere fetish, but I wouldn’t mind that treatment too."
Smiling, Thyra lay down beside him. "Well, isn’t it time you tell me about your dreams?"
