Chapter 295: Kill All

In the eastern region of the mountaintop lived a small group of Vaelari. They had settled there a few years ago, having discovered the remains of one of their old cities there.

They were all adults, and their strength was not small. Against parasitized beasts roaming the forest on the mountaintop, they were able to stand their ground.

In fact, they had set one of the forests ablaze, burning the creatures in it to death.

On this night brightly illuminated by the large moon, they all sat around a large camp fire, surrounded by their tents.

The leader looked troubled as he stared at the flames.

"We didn’t get the messages of their deaths, so it’s obvious that they are not dead yet."

Aila, the friend of the deceased Salina, scowled. "My attack should have killed him! He’s just Tier One! Why didn’t he die?!"

The leader glared at her and bellowed. "Idiot woman! Do you know it was your fault?! Your impatience made us lose them! How could you speak so boldly? Idiot!"

Aila immediately shrank back, intimidated. An aged man tapped his cane on the rock and shook his head.

"You don’t need to argue among yourselves. If those aliens are still alive, we have to find them. Or else they might bring doom upon our race just like those parasites."

The mood turned grim, and they all glanced at each other.

The leader slowly nodded. "Tomorrow, we will go down and check for them. If we cannot find them, we will have to report to the Dome."

Aila nodded in agreement. She stood up and glared at the others. "Well, I’ll be going to mourn my friend alone. After all, it seems nobody else cares that Salina died."

She snorted and turned around. Suddenly, she froze.

"Who?!"

She tried to step back, but her legs were frozen to the ground. The last thing she felt was something hard pass through her neck.

Thud!

Her head dropped to the ground, and the others around her stood in shock. The leader’s eyes reddened with rage.

"Who dares?! Show yourself!"

Selene calmly stepped out of hiding, sliding her sword back into its sheath. They all stared at her in shock, and in anger.

None of them failed to recognize her. Wasn’t she the unconscious woman that guy had been carrying?

How was she suddenly Tier Two? They remembered feeling that she was Tier One.

"So you were evolving..." The leader muttered. "I see. But what makes you think you can come take revenge with just you alone?"

Selene shifted her gaze to him and said, "You... all die here today."

The leader’s expression darkened, and he attacked without hesitation. "Kill her!"

He shot forward first, his body covered in lightning. He reached Selene in an instant, throwing his fist towards her head.

Bang!

The punch connected, and ’she’ shattered into ice shards. Suddenly feeling danger, he hurriedly pulled back. Pain bloomed in his hand, and he watched as his thumb fell to the ground.

"What?"

Gritting his teeth, he tried to stop the bleeding while he retreated. The other Vaelari took his place and attacked her.

Unfazed by their attacks, Selene merely waved her hand and erected an ice shield in front of herself.

Their barrage of attacks landed on the shield and shook it heavily. However, they were unable to bring it down. With a flick of her wrist, the shield broke apart and was transformed into several ice spikes.

Before they could react, the spikes shot towards them. Several Tier One Vaelari Evolvers died instantly, while the Tier Two ones were injured.

The leader picked up a machete from the ground and immediately moved to attack her. If he stayed back, more of his men would die.

He didn’t think someone who had just evolved into Tier Two would be this strong.

’Now, I’ve lost several of them to her because of my carelessness.’

His eyes reddened with rage, and his size grew.

"DIE!!!"

With a beastly roar, he swung the machete straight at her head. Knowing she was more likely to be a mage or an assassin-type Evolver, he was confident that she wouldn’t be able to handle this attack.

Selene looked up, but didn’t retreat. She calmly unsheathed her sword and swung it to meet the descending machete.

The leader’s eyes flashed with disbelief. She wanted to block?

’Then...’

His disbelief was replaced by cruelty, and he pushed harder.

Slice-!

To his shock, her ice-coated sword actually cut through his machete easily. He stumbled forward, and a thick ice pillar struck his chest.

Bang!

He was knocked back once again, and the others moved to attack Selene without hesitation.

Unfazed, she unleashed a barrage of ice spikes upon them, forcing many to block while the weakest ones were quickly overwhelmed and killed.

"How is she able to shoot this much?!" Someone cried out in horror as they defended against her seemingly endless attacks.

"A monster! She’s a monster! We have to kill this monster!" Another shouted, blinded by rage.

"Kill her!!!"

Selene’s expression remained indifferent as they slowly crumbled under her attacks. None of them could truly threaten her. Only the leader who seemed to be peak Tier Two, could give her some trouble.

"You... alien..."

The man growled, his size doubling. He dropped on all fours, shifting into the form of a lightning tiger.

"... will DIE!"

The ground shattered beneath him as he launched towards her, and the forest shook. Selene glanced at him, then coolly slipped away from him.

Bang!

He slammed down on where she had been standing, his maw crackling with lightning as he turned to face her.

"Alien..." He growled in his deep, beastly voice.

He slowly opened his maw, revealing the condensed ball of lightning powering up within him.

Selene’s eyes narrowed, and a short breath escaped her lips. "... Blizzard."

The Vaelari leader shivered, suddenly assaulted by terrible cold. His lungs itched, as even the air he breathed stung sharply. After just a few seconds of confusion, he realized something shocking.

The lightning attack in his mouth had already frozen into an ice ball.
