Wizard: Stronger through Marriage
Chapter 1374 - 642: Corridor of Forgetting_2
Chapter 1374: Chapter 642: Corridor of Forgetting_2
Sofia’s face under the veil was slightly pale. She formed a gesture with her hands, raising them to her chest, as a mass of blue-black and purple energy coalesced into a whip-like form, shooting from her fingertips, knocking back part of the enemy group.
However, pain was faintly visible between her brows: "They are more corrosive than ever before; the corrupt energy here makes them unusually violent."
The battle suddenly reached a stalemate.
A heavy, chilling atmosphere enveloped the surroundings, with each magical fluctuation bringing a bone-chilling cold and a feeling of soul-rending pain.
The Shadow Devouring Race kept engaging and attempting to surround the two, while the chaotic environment caused by the spatial disarray made the Law power unable to fully exert its effect.
Suddenly, a massive mutated evil spirit lunged at Sofia. She narrowly avoided it but a sharp claw mark scraped across her left arm.
A wave of corrosive pain quickly spread, causing a brief expression of distortion on her face.
But immediately, she inhaled the power of the Fallen Star within her body, the cold fire flaring with a struggle as if fighting for survival, "Must... devour!"
At that moment, she gritted her teeth, and absorbed the small evil spirit exuding a strong corrupt aura, which had been driven back, into her body. ℯ
A strong shock ran through her body almost knocking her to her knees, but then, the spreading corrosion somewhat subsided, and the chaotic fire in her eyes suddenly became much more calm and clear.
"Commander..." Sofia’s voice was weak yet exceptionally firm, "I’ve... briefly regained a sliver of sanity."
David furrowed his brow as he stepped forward to support her, "Speak, what exactly did you see?"
Sofia slowly revealed: "The spore embryo... is hatching.
This isn’t ordinary decay but a new life form—an alien spore gestated by the combination of the Fallen Star and Abyss Chaos.
It will destroy all life order in this field and will soon spread to the outside world."
As her words fell, several huge spore embryo infants dormant in the shadows climbed up in the distance.
Their bodies were covered with black and purple shells, constantly releasing corrosive miasma, filling the air with a pungent sulfur smell and a soul-burning sensation.
Hill and Reina led the guard team and arrived in time. They quickly deployed a defensive formation upon witnessing the astonishing scene.
Hill swung his sword, each strike of the blade brought up fragments of ice runes, forcing the enemies back;
while Reina summoned the Ice and Snow Elements to freeze the miasma, buying the team some breathing time.
But all this still couldn’t stop the frenzied proliferation and infection range of the spore embryos from expanding rapidly.
David looked at Sofia, who was still struggling to stand, her gaze gradually clearing, with complex emotions flickering in his eyes.
"We must seal these sources of catastrophe quickly and cut off the connection between the ’Forgotten Corridor’ and the outside world; otherwise, it will be an endless disaster."
David, holding a phase dagger, stepped deeper into this otherworldly forbidden zone.
His expression was calm, yet his brows furrowed inevitably, with the sharp blade reflecting resoluteness and vigilance in the dim light.
Sofia walked with light steps, her silver eyes seemed to penetrate the mist reflecting unknown crises, yet unable to conceal the subtle fear and fatigue at the bottom of her eyes.
Hilvia, draped in a deep purple Priest Robe, tightly held a crystalline long staff.
Her expression was complex, her gaze heavy, yet carrying a trace of a silent reminiscence that felt familiar.
"Here..." Hilvia whispered, pointing to a corroded stone wall ahead.
The stone wall vaguely bore a mark—a black as ink, embedded with a silver crescent and inverted sword, forming a complex totem,
"This is the Eclipse Moon Knight Order’s emblem... remnants of the Eternal Night Council."
David stared at the emblem, his gaze sharp as frost.
"The Eternal Night Council...the secret organization that once sought to overturn multiverse order and bring in endless power of chaos?
They are still active here?"
Sofia nodded slightly, "This is not just a symbol; they’ve conspired with the Abyssal Shadow Devouring Race to establish a ’nest’ here, nurturing new variants of evil spirits.
These spore embryo infants are their crucial pieces in attempting to manifest and spread chaos power into the real world."
Hilvia fell silent for a moment then softly said: "I was once ordered to infiltrate here secretly a few years ago, and discovered these signs, but couldn’t completely eradicate them.
They used the corridor’s spatial chaos to cover their tracks, while manipulating the corrupt energy to infect the surrounding ecology."
She tightened her grip on the staff, her gaze firm yet carrying self-reproach, "I hadn’t foreseen their power’s hidden depth or expected such massive disaster to unfold now."
David stepped forward; he watched the corrosive currents and the spore embryo infants crawling amid the crevices, those black and purple shells held restless life forms, releasing pungent miasma in the cold air.
"We must destroy this ’nest’ completely and cut off the source of the evil spirits’ reproduction; otherwise, the entire frontier and even multiverse order will collapse."
Sofia’s lips beneath the veil were subtly pursed, as a cold killing intent quietly emerged:
"Let the evils buried in history’s shadow vanish completely, this is my blood feud and my unrelenting battle."
Hilvia retracted her gaze and turned sideways to the two, "We must unite all forces: the Wizard Alliance, the Mechanical Clergy, the Life Priest, and the Ice and Snow Watcher, to jointly design a sealing plan.
Mere force cannot root out this complex labyrinth of twisted laws and entangled malice, we must sever their survival grounds from the root."
The air gradually congealed into frost and mingled with a web of blue runes, each step they took was on a land filled with peril and eerie fluctuation.
Meanwhile, in the deepest shadows, countless spore embryo infants were stirring, seemingly sensing the threat of the intruders, releasing destructive miasma even more ferociously.
Reina came from behind, her silver-blue armor accentuating her firm and cold complexion.
"The sealing array is ready; we will lay out an icy barrier on the periphery, trapping them in this dead end so they cannot escape or propagate further!"
Gathering together, representatives from various sides revealed different degrees of anxiety but more so determination and resoluteness.
They knew this wasn’t just a battle, but a test of faith, order, and the survival of civilization, a crucial turning point for the future destiny of the mortal epoch and various races.
David raised the phase dagger in his hand, its ancient runes suddenly lit up, resonating with numerous Magic Arrays scattered in the sky.
A mighty wave rippled from the core like a falling star illuminating the dark sea.
"Everyone..." his voice was low and powerful, "this is our last and most critical fight; no matter how perilous the path ahead, we must join hands to protect this land.
This concerns not just the new Hongqiao but the entire multiverse order of whether it can continue!"
Sofia stepped forward, her silver eyes sharp as a blade slicing through the mist: "Expose those hidden tides in the dust of history to sunlight, let the Fallen Star finally face judgment!"
Hilvia also raised her long staff, responding loudly, "With the Holy Light Mark oath, we will never let destruction ravage our homeland again!"
David, Sofia, Hilvia, and Reina advanced slowly, each step seemed like descending into an unknown abyss.
Their gazes were firm, breaths steady, facing this space filled with death’s foreboding without fear, only alertness and resolve.
As they went deeper, the spatial distortion grew intense, the fluctuation of the law rose and fell like waves, amidst the flickering light and shadow, a giant dark silhouette gradually appeared.
It was the core of the ’nest’, a massive spore embryo suspended mid-air, covered entirely with a hard shell woven from Divine Remains Crystal and Abyssal Corruptions, its surface gleaming with intermingling blue and dark purple hues.
Cold as ice crystal ripples occasionally flashed while corrosive miasma suffocated the air.
This ’God-Devouring Spore Embryo’ was absorbing the Law Energy scattered from the Divine Kingdom, resembling a black altar devouring order and life. 𝖋𝘳ℯ
It spun slowly, its every pulse emanating deep chilling sound waves, like whispers from the abyss of chaos, chilling to the bone.
