Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree
Chapter 1139: Digesting Resources
After the Rule Prohibition Ring was unsealed, Duke gained another trump card in his hand.
Having resolved this matter, Duke needed to deal with the large pile of loot he had previously acquired.
These material resources need to be transformed into his own strength to be meaningful; the trip on the Path of Divine Revelation was truly fruitful.
Duke carefully organized the list of materials in his room; there was only one Holy Silver Moon Flower, preserved excellently, with the silver light on its petals still bright, as if just fished out from moonlight.
He wanted to use it to concoct a magic potion specifically to assist in the cultivation of dark attribute rules. Right now, there’s a gap period, with no missions pressing him and no battlefields requiring night-and-day travel, making it suitable to calmly engage in alchemy.
This magic potion is named Moon Concealment Elixir. The formula was brought from memory from the Six-Ring Tower Library, and it belongs to a relatively niche category within Third-Level Potions.
Its characteristic is not about increasing spiritual power but rather significantly enhancing the perception and operational efficiency of dark attribute rules within a few days of consumption, particularly suitable for use with Meditation Techniques at night or in places rich with shadows.
Unlike those auxiliary potions purely pursuing explosive power, its medicinal properties are calm and steady, excelling in stability and longevity.
Naturally, the main ingredient is this Holy Silver Moon Flower, supplemented with Shadow Stone Powder, Black Erosion Grass Root, Nether River Moss, and Night Tear Dew.
Duke went through the list in his mind and found that most materials were already prepared: Two cans of Shadow Stone Powder, Black Erosion Grass Root, which was brought by the Commerce Association before he returned from the Path of Divine Revelation, with ample amounts, and Nether River Moss, which has been stored in a Temperature-Controlled Box.
Only Night Tear Dew, Silver Spot Toad Fat, and Silent Moth Wing Powder were absent, needing to be purchased externally.
He poured a glass of water, quickly drafted a message at the desk to Harrison of the Giant Rock Commerce Association, specifying the specifications, purity, and quantity of materials.
Before nightfall, Harrison replied, stating that all three items were in stock and would be delivered within two days at the latest.
Duke set down his badge and started preparing.
Since leaving Black Sail and entering the Six-Ring Tower, Duke rarely engaged in serious alchemy himself.
The few times he worked on potions, it was mostly to concoct some recovery potions or testing solutions for personal use.
Back in Black Sail, he advanced through the Magic Potion branch of the Skill Tree, treating alchemy as a livelihood skill.
As his path widened, placing combat, plane exploration, and rule cultivation ahead, alchemy was pushed into the corner.
Now, as he restarted, the familiar sensations of heat control, extraction order, and the timing of spiritual power infusion began to surface, like reacquainting himself with a long-neglected craft.
During the two days waiting for materials, Duke first borrowed a standard workstation in the public Magic Potion Laboratory of the Six-Ring Tower to practice his skills.
The Magic Potion Laboratory is located in the middle section of the technical department, with arrays of crystal stone surfaces and ventilation witch arrays upon entry.
The air carried a complex scent left by dozens of potion vapor steams, far noisier than Wilkinson’s private Magic Potion Laboratory.
Occasionally, young wizards would explode flasks at neighboring workstations, prompting a wave of low curses.
Duke found a spot inside, took out several low-tier materials from the Space Ring, and slowly experimented following an old recipe from memory.
The first two batches had some unfamiliarity with the heat control, with no major mistakes, but the finished products were mediocre at best.
He didn’t rush. On the third attempt, he lowered the extraction temperature slightly and delayed the timing of spiritual power infusion by half a beat. At the final collection, the color of the magic potion was much cleaner than the previous two times.
Duke was well-acquainted with this process of familiarizing himself with potions and increasing skill proficiency through repeated refining.
When Harrison delivered the ordered Night Tear Dew, Silver Spot Toad Fat, and Silent Moth Wing Powder, his sense for heat control had already begun to return substantially.
He unwrapped the package and checked each item, storing them using the appropriate methods: Night Tear Dew needed to be kept in the dark, so he placed it in a Black Crystal Bottle; Silver Spot Toad Fat needed to be kept cool, so he placed it in the lower layer of the Temperature-Controlled Box; Silent Moth Wing Powder required moisture protection, so he wrapped it in moisture-proof paper three times before sealing it in a small container.
Everything was ready, only refining needed to start.
Duke didn’t rush to start that night; he re-examined the purity of the three materials before heading to the Magic Potion Laboratory the next morning.
This time, he chose an enclosed alchemy workstation in a corner, equipped with a dedicated sound-dampening witch array and an independent ventilation system.
Third-Level Potions cannot be made in just any environment; even a small external disturbance could lead to an imbalance in potion power.
He spent nearly an hour on preliminary preparations: cleaning the surfaces, calibrating the Crystal Stone heating plate, and checking the sealing of the Condenser Tube and Extraction Bottle.
After ensuring all equipment was in order, he took out the Holy Silver Moon Flower from the Space Ring.
This flower had been sealed in the Black Crystal Medicine Box since leaving the maze, and upon lifting the lid, the entire platform seemed covered with faint moonlight.
The silver glow on the petals seemed to breathe, flickering gently.
Instead of immediately dissecting it, Duke first sat quietly before the platform, calming his breathing.
Then, he took out an extremely fine Silver Knife and along the curve connecting the petals and the sepal, he carefully removed each petal intact.
Six petals, no more, no less. At the last petal, a few drops of extremely pale silver-white liquid oozed from the flower’s core—this was the Flower Heart Dew of the Holy Silver Moon Flower.
Duke caught it in a thumb-sized crystal cup, seven drops in total, with the cup’s wall shining as though holding half a star.
The next task was processing the auxiliary materials. Shadow Stone Powder needed to be roasted at low temperature with a Purple Flame, allowing the dark attribute energy hidden within to slowly seep out.
