Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree
Chapter 1137: Level 4 Witchcraft Artifact Unsealed
The next morning, Duke was awakened by a gentle knock on the door.
He got up to open the door, but there was no one at the entrance, only a silver-grey wooden box engraved with the Six-Ring Tower’s internal affairs crest suspended in mid-air, with a letter bearing a gold-embossed seal attached to its surface.
He took the wooden box inside, opened the seal.
The letter unfolded, with the formal format of the Wizard Council’s official correspondence, the wording solemn and brief, conveying this message:
“All levels of the Path of Divine Revelation have officially concluded, the final rankings have been calculated, and the corresponding rewards are attached with this letter.
The final winner of the fifth-level Gladiatorial Arena is Helena, and she will receive an additional special reward.
Duke is ranked first in this trial score, and as per the rules, should receive the first-tier settlement reward, hereby notified.”
Duke set the letter aside and cast his gaze upon the silver-grey wooden box.
He lifted the box lid, inside lay a ring quietly.
The band was a deep silver-grey, somewhat resembling black silver, but its surface shimmered with a flowing dark golden pattern.
The pattern wasn’t engraved but naturally surfaced on the metal, like a tiny dragon snake swimming inside the ring.
Duke picked up the ring, it was lighter than he imagined, and after putting it on the middle finger of his left hand, the band automatically adjusted to the most fitting position.
He injected a trace of Spiritual Power into the ring, and the space within suddenly unfolded in his consciousness.
This was the largest and most complete space equipment he had used so far.
The internal space was exaggeratedly large, almost equivalent to a small city, with the ground defined by a pale golden light surface through Spiritual Power, allowing any item to float, arrange, and store in different areas at his command.
The inner wall of the space was engraved with a fine rune scale, and the ring itself was a Level 3 Witchcraft Artifact designed specifically to store higher-grade items.
More importantly, Duke quickly discovered that its core had three special slots, specifically intended for placing other Space Rings.
This design dumbfounded him for several seconds; a Space Ring that could store other Space Rings was a rarity even in the Six-Ring Tower, at least indicating that the Wizard Council’s craftsmanship in ‘space nesting’ surpassed the versions circulated outside.
He retrieved Audric’s three Space Rings, inserting them one by one into the slots, creating three barely audible clicks like lock bolts falling into place from within the ring, followed by all items gently quivering as though simultaneously awakened, reorganizing. Duke couldn’t help but click his tongue softly.
In addition to this ring, the box contained an extremely long reward list neatly categorized: ten bottles of Level 4 Potion, twenty bottles of Third-Level Auxiliary Potion, several pieces of high-purity Magic Metal Ore, five top-grade materials for Magic Potion, seven rare compounds required for Alchemy, and some scraps whose names he couldn’t call out but recognized as valuable upon reading their descriptions.
Beast Blood, Dragon Scales, Elf Grass Juice, Black Abyss Star Iron, rune boards of different Elemental Rules… Just reading the words on the list was enough to make one dizzy.
Magic Stones were, in fact, the least part, with only a few anonymous cards from the Star Dome Commerce Association, not of large denomination, evidently just symbolic rewards.
In comparison, those resources that were priceless in the market were what the Wizard Council truly intended to bestow.
Duke stored the wooden box into the new ring, walked to the window, and raised his left hand into the daylight, observing the dark golden pattern still flowing slowly, like a newly breathing creature.
The ring before him was a commemorative Space Ring crafted specially by the Wizard Council for the Path of Divine Revelation, also serving as proof of graduating from the Path of Divine Revelation.
That afternoon, Duke also received a reply and an invitation letter from Master Cecil, arranging a meeting for the afternoon three days later.
That was, naturally, another piece of good news.
Three days later, Duke arrived as scheduled at the Six-Ring Department of Tower Magic and Alchemy.
Cecil Halloween’s private studio was at the end of a quiet corridor on the top floor of the Technology Department, with only a small brass plaque on the door, with lettering so faded it was nearly illegible.
Duke straightened his collar at the door and knocked gently.
A low “come in” came from inside, and as he pushed open the door, a complex scent hit him face-first, like freshly quenched iron, aged parchment, and several solvents he couldn’t fully recognize mixed together.
The room was even larger than Wilkinson’s Alchemy Room, with black metal racks lining the walls from floor to ceiling, crammed with thousands of unnamed artifacts.
In the center was an excessively long stone slab, its surface baked dark green by some high temperature.
Cecil stood beside the stone slab, wearing a deep blue work robe, faded from washing, with the sleeves rolled to the elbows, revealing arms covered in old scars, some resembling burns, others like intricate knife cut lines.
He appeared about forty years old, perhaps older, with a gaunt and sharp face, deep-set eyes, and a nose so high it seemed obtrusive, his gray-brown eyes intently fixed on Duke.
“You came,” he nodded at Duke without small talk, “Did you bring the item?”
Duke retrieved the Witchcraft Artifact from the new ring, and as soon as the six dark silver discs left his hand, they automatically suspended above the stone slab, slowly rotating, as though strung by an invisible thread, emitting a faint clicking sound.
The air in the room immediately became tense, as though a tiny creature awoke above the stone slab.
Cecil didn’t rush to touch it, instead circled half the stone slab, observing the entire string of discs from different angles.
