Wizard: Scamming a Demon God
Chapter 390 - 288: Fighting God in Position
Chapter 390: Chapter 288: Fighting God in Position
Although they were all quite enthusiastic about becoming Divine Creatures, Isaac had unfortunately given Mephisto the Virtual Divinity of a True God, not an Evil God, so he couldn’t create Followers without limit.
In other words, they had to meet certain conditions or complete Trials to be granted power by Him.
Naturally, their numbers couldn’t compare to the indiscriminately created Followers of an Evil God, but their quality was much higher. Their combat power, Life Force, and even potential far surpassed those of an Evil God’s Followers.
Furthermore, they would retain their free will for a relatively longer time. Unlike the Followers of an Evil God, who, if lucky, might last seven or eight years, the unlucky ones would be completely lost to Corruption in three to five years, or even less than one.
Of course, where there were advantages, there were naturally disadvantages. First, the requirements were quite high. Out of Mephisto’s group of a hundred-odd people, only nine met the standards, and the others failed to qualify. Among these nine, three were children under the age of ten and lacked any combat ability.
At least, it wasn’t time to send them to the battlefield yet. ℯℯ𝘭.
Second, except in special cases, the power of most Followers of a True God had to be increased slowly, just like a normal Transcendent; they wouldn’t receive immense power in an instant.
Therefore, aside from Mephisto and the three children, the others were all just Tier One Divine Officials.
However, though they were a bit weak, it was sufficient for travel. Although there were many Underground Palaces nearby, they were mostly in a dormant state. There weren’t many Demons in the vicinity, and the few scattered ones were no match for Mephisto.
After all, even though He had yet to fully familiarize Himself with His own power and Divine Authority, He could easily crush a Tier Three Demon with His raw stats alone. Fighting above one’s tier wasn’t so easy, after all.
Even Isaac himself admitted that when he was at Tier Three, he could only escape from a Tier Four Powerhouse by catching them off guard. As for confronting one?
Not a chance.
However, despite this huge advantage, Mephisto still didn’t act rashly. Instead, he took his six combat-capable Followers and first properly adapted to their new powers. Only after a full three days did he lead his people and begin migrating toward the area designated by Isaac.
Meanwhile, after leaving Mephisto, Isaac quickly found a wielder for [Fighting God]. It couldn’t be helped; whether in terms of combat power or potential, [Fighting God] simply wasn’t on the same level as [Blade of the Scorching Sun]. There was no need to be meticulous with the selection—a casual choice would suffice.
In any case, it was a Virtual Divinity with a partial [Eternal] trait, so changing hosts came at no cost. If it wasn’t a good fit, he could just swap it out.
So, after leaving Mephisto, Isaac gave it to a group of Wilderness Humans about two hundred strong. They had more people than Mephisto’s group, but their unity seemed lacking. A small group of just two hundred people, yet they had four leaders...
Isaac didn’t say much about it. After giving [Fighting God] to the most suitable one of the four leaders, he went on to search for other humans. Although he had no more Virtual Divinities on hand, it was clear that a mere three hundred-plus people were not enough to support his plan.
As for [Fighting God]’s side...
Isaac wasn’t worried. After all, the [Fighting God] held an almost absolute power over ordinary people!
Unless the [Fighting God] and His subordinates were complete idiots, stabilizing the situation would be no problem at all.
And that was indeed the case. After Isaac left, the Fighting God, Ex, quickly subdued the others and became the undisputed leader of the two hundred-plus people. He then created thirty-six Followers from among them!
That’s right, thirty-six!
Their numbers far exceeded Mephisto’s nine, and with only two of them being children, they had a full thirty-four combatants!
There were several reasons for such a large discrepancy. First, their group was larger. Second, the [Fighting God] Divinity was weaker than the [Blade of the Scorching Sun], so the requirements for becoming a Follower were much lower. Finally, He also had good luck on His side.
Of course, when quantity goes up, quality tends to go down.
Compared to Mephisto’s Followers, who could wield both Flame and longswords, the Fighting God’s Followers were far inferior. Their changes were basically limited to Physical Enhancement and a single Divine-Gifted Combat Technique. Most importantly, unlike Mephisto’s Followers, they didn’t come with their own weapons!
However, for them right now, having greater numbers was an unparalleled advantage. This meant the Fighting God had more room to maneuver.
Despite gaining such immense power, the Fighting God was keenly aware of who had given it to him. So, after familiarizing himself with his new strength and establishing his Followers, he acted decisively, splitting his forces in two. He and ten of his weakest Followers would escort the remaining ordinary people to the location designated by Isaac.
The other Followers would head to other human settlements in the Wilderness to gather more people for Isaac!
The Fighting God knew very well that whether it was to better serve Isaac or to better survive in this world, population was the foundation of everything!
At least, that was the case after gaining Extraordinary Power. Only with a larger population could he create more Followers and better protect humanity!
Yes, protect humanity!
Even though he had only been the Fighting God for a few days, such a selfless, saint-like idea had already taken root in His heart.
This was quite incredible. One must remember that just a few days ago, the Fighting God had been an ordinary person whose thoughts were mostly consumed with fighting for power and profit. The speed of this transformation could be described as remarkably fast!
And this was a firewall that Isaac had intentionally built into the Virtual Divinity. Under the influence of the Virtual Divinity, no matter who the host was, their actions and thoughts would be influenced by the [Divinity] within it. Their behavior would unconsciously align with the [Divinity]’s standards.
Of course, the reason Isaac was able to do this was that this was one of the inherent dilemmas faced by Deities. Isaac had just amplified this particular problem slightly.
Even if he did nothing, they would sooner or later be dominated by the [Divinity] within the Virtual Divinity. Being a Deity is not so easy.
However, this had nothing to do with Isaac. In any case, the primary control of the Virtual Divinity was in his hands. Once his research into them deepened, he could give one to each of his Servant Demons and subordinates.
Of course, that step was still a long way off. For now...
They could only be given to Dimension Apostles. Because when the wielder of a Virtual Divinity is replaced, the previous holder is completely devoured by it!
This devouring ability was extremely powerful. Based on a rough estimate, Isaac believed that even a Dimension Apostle’s Undying couldn’t withstand it!
After all, a Dimension Apostle’s Undying came from the Dimension World. And while a Virtual Divinity might be weaker in terms of raw power, its conceptual rank was no lower than that of a Dimension World—it might even be slightly higher!
