Wizard: Scamming a Demon God
Chapter 371 - 273: God Mage and Bloodline Warlock (2)
Chapter 371: Chapter 273: God Mage and Bloodline Warlock (2)
This was also the direction envisioned by previous Wizards, but most of their research had failed. The few exceptions were either Casters like Secret Mages who relied on Dimensional Demon Gods, or those who had no Casting Ability of their own and relied on the Magic Net to cast Magic.
Although they could all cast Magic, their Casting Ability wasn’t truly their own. If they wished to advance further in the future, they would still have to converge upon the path of a Legendary Mage, and it would be an exceptionally difficult journey.
Although these experiments never truly succeeded, they did provide Isaac with some valuable insights. When combined with the most traditional path of Legendary Mages, it wasn’t difficult to see that all these successful cases involved a crucial element: High-Position Existences!
Traditional Legendary Mages obtained their Casting Ability through extra-dimensional beings, Secret Mages through Dimensional Demon Gods, and as for the Magic Net relied upon by Magic Net Mages, its essence was a high-level creation, similar to a Dimension World, forged by some powerful Wizard.
Even the Arcanists had the involvement of a Great Wizard in their creation; otherwise, they would not have emerged so quickly.
Therefore, for Isaac’s experiment to succeed, the involvement of a High-Position Existence was essential. Furthermore, this Existence couldn’t be unique; it had to be readily accessible. Otherwise, how would this be any different from the path of the Magic Net Mages?
So, did he have such a thing on hand?
The answer was yes!
The Divine Spirit Rat!
Its strength might be rather ordinary, but its position was very high. It possessed a Casting Ability—albeit for Divine Arts—without even being Non-Rank.
Moreover, unlike a Demon Heart, once a Divine Spirit Rat was successfully modified, it would automatically gain a Casting Ability.
Of course, according to Isaac’s research, this type of Casting Ability still had certain differences from a Wizard’s. First, they could only cast Divine Arts. Second, compared to Wizards, they were more like Magic Net Mages, as the nature of their souls didn’t undergo a direct transformation.
The difference, however, was that all Magic Net Mages shared a single Magic Net, and before Tier Three, their ability to cast Magic depended entirely on the whims of the Magic Net’s master. The Divine Spirit Rat, on the other hand, relied on the Divinity Network within its body—in other words, its Divinity.
The drawback was that it was far more difficult for a Divine Spirit Rat to increase its strength than it was for a Magic Net Mage.
’So, if the transplanted heart was from a Divine Spirit Rat, or rather, a Divine Species, could one directly obtain a Casting Ability?’ 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Of course, this idea still had many flaws. For instance, the core of a Divine Species’ power was the Divinity Network spread throughout its entire body, not a specific organ. A transplant was certainly possible, but transplanting either the Divinity Network directly or one of Shushu’s snacks—a Divine Crystal—would be incredibly troublesome.
Most importantly, even if the transplant succeeded, the result wouldn’t be a Wizard, but a human of a Divine Species.
’The direction is right, but the details still need to be refined.’
Besides the Divine Spirit Rat, Isaac had another idea: create something similar to the Magic Net and combine it with the source of a Witch’s power—their bloodline. This would allow Wizards who had transplanted a Demon Heart to draw Magic from their bloodline, and eventually, even gain an independent Casting Ability!
Yes, just like the Bloodline Warlocks from the early Wizard novels of his previous life.
However, compared to transplanting a Divinity, this path was far more difficult. The greatest challenge was that researching the Witch Bloodline was the ultimate taboo, especially now, with the Witch Country growing stronger by the day.
Back when the Path of Wizardry was in its infancy, newly awakened Witches were frequently captured and dissected by Wizards. For the Witches, that was an exceptionally bloody and desperate era. Be it the Church, Wizards, or even the Demons in the wild, it felt as though the entire world was against them!
Thus, when the Witches united and formally established the Witch Country, their first act was to ban all Wizard research on the Witch Bloodline. Not only was research forbidden, but they even erased much of the previous findings!
Erased them at a conceptual level!
So, for the time being, Isaac could only focus on researching the heart transplant. As for the Bloodline Warlock idea... it would require more careful consideration.
Staring at the fresh, crimson heart throbbing on the table, Isaac waved his fingers gently. The glow of Magic Power flickered as, one by one, Magic Marks materialized on the bloody organ before vanishing.
Gradually, as more and more Magic Marks were applied, the aura of Magic Power around the heart slowly receded, replaced by the faint scent of Divine Power!
When the aura of Divine Power appeared, Isaac’s moving fingertips came to a halt. The transformation from a heart of Magic Power to one of Divine Power was a success, yet there wasn’t a trace of joy on his face. Instead, his brow was tightly furrowed.
The aura of Divine Power on the heart had lasted for only a moment before dissipating completely. This was to be expected. Isaac had anticipated it before he even began.
Isaac’s current research on the Divinity Network was still limited to holistic transformations. When faced with a single body part, he had no way of integrating the Divinity Network into it.
There was nothing to be done. Although Isaac’s research into Divine Species had yielded some early results, the Path of Divinity was simply not worth the investment. This was evident just by looking at Shushu.
Although Shushu started from a low point, Isaac had provided it with considerable resources along the way. For a Divine Species, this was especially true; no other could claim to snack on Divinity the way Shushu did.
But even with this massive supply of resources, it had only just barely reached the ranks of Tier Three. While its combat power was considerable, its rate of advancement was mediocre at best.
Ultimately, the root of a Divine Species’ power stemmed from Faith. Only Faith could maximize their strength—be it their potential, combat power, or rate of advancement. Faith was the ultimate fuel for their progression.
But Faith, especially faith in a Deity, was not so easy to cultivate. Small-scale proselytizing was too inefficient, while large-scale efforts were too difficult. This was especially true since Shushu was a rat and, on top of that, Isaac’s Servant Demon—a combination that could easily set off those fanatics in the Church.
The slightest misstep could provoke them into launching a Holy War!
With so many restrictions, Isaac naturally had little interest in the Path of Divinity. Consequently, he hadn’t invested much time into researching the field.
However, that wasn’t to say this experiment was completely useless. To a Wizard, every experiment is useful. Even a failure serves the purpose of providing data.
At the very least, this simple experiment had given Isaac some idea of which direction his research should take next.
Meanwhile, just as Isaac was burying his head in research, a meeting was being convened in the Imperial Palace for the sole purpose of discussing him!
Just as Isaac suspected, the opening of the Endless Tower was imminent, and the high-level combatants of the Real World would soon enter an unprecedented power vacuum. For a time, the only remaining powers in the entire Real World would be at Tier Three.
Under these circumstances, the Empire was naturally paying close attention to Isaac, who not only possessed absolute power among the Tier Three ranks but was also the prophesied destroyer of the Empire.
While the summons wasn’t a test, as Isaac had assumed, its purpose was definitely to get him out of the way.
The prophecy concerning Isaac wasn’t set in stone like the one about the Emperor; it was an ordinary prophecy, one that could be avoided. In such a situation, the Empire, which always prioritized stability, would not act rashly.
Of course, stability was the Empire’s creed. Therefore, Isaac could not be allowed to remain in the Real World during this period!
They weren’t sure if Isaac was interested in the Endless Tower, so their only option was to use the summons to compel him to go there.
Frankly, before Isaac had even entered the Imperial Capital, they had been worried he wouldn’t answer the summons. He was a genius, after all, and geniuses were always proud, unconventional mavericks—especially one who was also a Mad Witch.
Fortunately, Isaac had answered the summons, preventing the situation from devolving into the most awkward possible outcome.
"Alright, he’s here," a handsome man with brilliant red hair stated coldly. He was dressed in magnificent robes but exuded an icy aura. "The next thing we must consider is how to ensure he actually enters the Endless Tower."
At his words, everyone turned in unison to look at Princess Philo, who was seated to the right of the Eldest Prince.
