Wizard: Scamming a Demon God
Chapter 350 - 256: Caesar: Guess Why a True God Is Called a True God?
Chapter 350: Chapter 256: Caesar: Guess Why a True God Is Called a True God?
"Sorry, we’ve been a bit busy lately. This is all we have." In the empty castle, Lorna handed Caesar a cup of store-bought black tea, a faint blush on her cheeks in embarrassment.
Caesar didn’t mind. He took the black tea and looked Lorna over with curiosity before nodding in satisfaction.
Lorna tilted her head in confusion, not quite understanding why Caesar had nodded. She said nothing, however, and quietly retreated with the tray. It was a bit impolite, but she was busy.
Besides, there was something about Caesar’s gratified gaze that inexplicably made her blush...
...
After Lorna left the room, Caesar slowly sipped his black tea. The smile faded from his face, replaced by a grave expression.
Isaac was making such a huge move that it would have been impossible for him not to notice.
After all, the Isaac of today was a far cry from the rookie Wizard he had been just two years prior. His personal combat power was now nearly unmatched at Tier Three, and he had several High-level Combat Powers under his command.
Although the Wizard Organization Mad Heart was only recently established and still lacked a solid foundation, its members were a different story. Their origins as Wild Mages meant their combat strength was relatively low, but at the end of the day, they were still Casters. Their combat skills might be subpar, but their productivity was absolutely off the charts!
On top of that, he also commanded several Extraordinary Legions whose combat prowess was unrivaled on the continent!
It was no exaggeration to say that in an Empire where Tier Four Powerhouses rarely made an appearance, a mere stomp of Isaac’s foot could make the entire nation tremble.
Besides, even setting all that aside, one only had to look at the things the man was having his subordinates collect...
It wasn’t just the Empire; even the Mechanical God Sect was terrified of him. They were afraid he would conduct another trading ritual with an Evil God to land a few devastating blows on their Divine Sect. Consequently, although Isaac’s operation had only been underway for three days, the Mechanical God Sect had already begun to pull back its front lines.
They couldn’t help it. The Mechanical God Sect wasn’t afraid of Outer Gods, but they were just so... vile.
The same was true for the Flesh Sect. They didn’t seize the opportunity to launch a major offensive. On the contrary, they also pulled back their front lines and dispatched several Tier Five powerhouses to stand guard near Isaac.
On one hand, they were worried the Mechanical God Sect might throw caution to the wind and just kill Isaac outright. On the other, they were also worried Isaac would act recklessly. If he truly intended to use an Outer God’s power against the Mechanical God Sect, they wanted to be there to stop him in time.
After all, trying to destroy the Mechanical God Sect with Outer God Power wasn’t realistic. If Isaac lost during the ritual and forfeited his own life in the process, that would be a complete farce.
Unlike everyone else, however, Caesar knew Isaac’s target was definitely not the Mechanical God Sect. The conflict between the Mechanical God Sect and the Flesh Sect had been raging for years. If he were going to snap over it, he would have done so long ago.
There was only one thing that could drive Isaac to make such an almost-insane decision: the Mad Witch·Prank Master!
Isaac wasn’t the only one who had been tracking her all these years. He and his older sister, Cheryl, had been searching as well. They also knew she had appeared on the battlefield between the Mechanical God Sect and the Flesh Sect.
But unlike Isaac, they had a territory to govern and people to look after. They couldn’t just up and leave like he could.
So even though they knew she was there, the battlefield was simply too vast, and they had no good reason to get involved.
But their inaction didn’t mean they had forgotten their hatred.
So, when he sensed Isaac’s preparations and guessed that these grand moves might be related to their target, Caesar had simply dumped all his territorial duties on his older sister, Cheryl, and come straight to find Isaac.
"Brother? What are you doing here?"
A ripple in Space appeared, and a white-robed Isaac stepped out. Upon seeing Caesar’s solemn expression, the smile on Isaac’s face vanished.
"Good. It seems I don’t need to explain. Don’t worry, I’m not here to stop you. I’m coming with you."
"Together?"
Isaac froze for a moment.
"What? You don’t think I’m strong enough?"
Isaac blinked. He didn’t say a word, but his silence said it all.
"Hah..." Caesar gave a resigned laugh, shaking his head as he stood up from his chair. Wisps of golden Flame flickered to life around him as a powerful aura emanated from his body.
HISS...
’He’s gotten stronger again!’ The Demon Eye on Isaac’s forehead opened, and all three of his eyes narrowed slightly.
Caesar’s aura was vastly stronger than the last time they’d met, which was unusual. The Path of the Extraordinary only grew more difficult the further one progressed, especially for a Knight. There were no shortcuts; building physical strength and accumulating Faith Divine Power both required a great deal of time.
It wasn’t like being a Wizard, where one could use shortcuts to advance after accumulating enough Extraordinary Knowledge.
A genius might progress faster, but not *this* fast.
"Brother, you didn’t... make a deal with an Outer God, did you?" Isaac eyed Caesar with suspicion. He couldn’t detect the aura of an Outer God on him, but then again, they were Outer Gods. Who knew what kind of devious tricks They might have for concealing an aura?
"...Are Outer Gods the only thing you can think of? Did it ever occur to you that there are also True Gods in this world?" Caesar stared at Isaac, speechless.
"True Gods?" Isaac froze. "Wouldn’t that be even more dangerous?"
Caesar: "..."
Seeing Isaac’s matter-of-fact expression, Caesar was at a complete loss for words. In that moment, he felt a deep pang of guilt for letting Isaac’s upbringing be so... unstructured. This child... his mind had been so warped that his first instinct was to believe that a deal with a True God was more dangerous...
"Er... ah, oh... Oh, my bad. It didn’t register for a second." Isaac only paused for a moment before he understood.
For a Mad Witch like him, dealing with a True God was indeed dangerous. For a normal person, however, it was perfectly safe.
Because normal people didn’t try to pull schemes on True Gods...
Moreover, to be precise, a deal with a True God couldn’t even be called a deal most of the time. They often didn’t care about getting anything in return, simply acting on a whim. When They were in a good mood, They wouldn’t fuss over something like repayment.
’If a True God was involved, then that level of improvement made perfect sense. Still, that True God’s identity must be extraordinary, or the Evil God on the other side of my Demon Eye wouldn’t be so shocked.’
Isaac didn’t dwell on the topic, however. Just because they were True Gods didn’t mean They were free of hidden agendas.
"So, I should be able to go with you now, right?" Caesar said softly, looking at Isaac with a wry smile.
"Of course you can. But let me be clear: our target is currently in the Star Sea. That place... it’s a mess." As he spoke, Isaac glanced at the top of Caesar’s head.
Caesar raised an eyebrow. He understood Isaac’s meaning but nodded anyway. The Star Sea was indeed chaotic; your average Divine Favored wouldn’t dare set foot in such a place.
Fortunately for him, he was no ordinary Divine Favored. The One who granted him power wouldn’t care about such matters.
"Alright, I understand. But now is not the time. We’ll depart in three days. I need to make some preparations."
With that said, a ripple in Space manifested behind Isaac and swallowed him whole.
