Chapter 348: Chapter 254: Yo~, a Colleague?

After returning to his territory, Isaac stopped going to the Endless Sea to carry out missions for the Flesh Sect. For one, the sacrificial ritual he had performed last time caused far too much of a stir, and he needed to lay low for a while.

Although, thanks to the utterly repulsive nature of Mad Witches, the major powers primarily dealt with them through expulsion rather than extermination.

But Isaac didn’t see this as a get-out-of-jail-free card. They chose not to kill, but that didn’t mean they *couldn’t*. If provoked, they would kill all the same. So, it was much safer to lay low for now.

On the other hand, he also wanted to clear his head. Although Isaac had long anticipated the plight of a Mad Witch, he had rarely interacted with outsiders, living in his own little bubble. As a result, his grasp of the actual situation wasn’t as profound as he’d thought. Not everyone was as tolerant as those in his circle; discrimination was still quite severe.

However, just because he was no longer going to the Endless Sea didn’t mean Isaac had stopped carrying out missions for the Sect. For one, the rewards on the contribution leaderboard were just too tempting. A Floating City!

Even if it was just the construction blueprints, for Isaac to obtain them through normal channels, he would have to advance to a Tier Four Mage, increase his authority within the Sect, and then save up contribution points for quite some time before he could exchange them for the plans.

And that’s not all!

As the ultimate weapon in the current Wizarding World, a tool that could last an eternity and was comparable to a Divine Artifact in the hands of a Deity, the difficulty of building a Floating City was reflected in every single aspect. It was on a completely different level from a Wizard Tower.

Beyond the superficial issues of cost, blueprints, and operating personnel—problems that could more or less be solved by throwing money at them—the most crucial requirement was that a Floating City had to be personally constructed by the Mage himself!

That’s right. Unlike a Mage Tower, which could be outsourced, a Floating City—whether built from scratch or converted from a Floating Island—had to be constructed by the Mage themself.

That included the blueprints!

Just obtaining the blueprints wasn’t enough. You first had to master them, then redesign a completely new set of plans from the ground up, and personally participate in the entire construction process. It was exceptionally laborious!

For this reason, not all High-tier Mages possessed a Floating City.

But this was unavoidable. After all, the reason a Floating City was the greatest weapon in the Wizarding World was because it provided a tremendous boost to its Mage!

For example, the title of Demigod.

For a Knight, only by advancing to Tier Six would they have a chance to claim this title. For a Mage, however, they could attempt to acquire it as soon as they reached Tier Five.

But!

A Tier Five Mage who possessed a Floating City was guaranteed to obtain the title of Demigod!

Even one who had just advanced to Tier Five!

This was because a Floating City provided an all-around enhancement to its Mage, including their personal Talent Witchcraft!

This was also the reason a Floating City had to be personally designed and constructed by its Mage; confidentiality was a minor issue by comparison.

Ensuring compatibility with one’s Magic Faction was merely a design challenge. The construction of a Floating City was even more difficult. The knowledge involved was not only vast but also absurdly advanced!

It was an enormous test of a Mage’s personal skill in Alchemy.

But the advantages were equally obvious. Because it was personally built by the Mage, and augmented by a series of additional Mysterious Magic and binding rituals, the connection between the Floating City and its Mage was incredibly tight. Combined with the ultra-powerful spatial jump capability every Floating City possessed, you could basically summon your Floating City to your side in an instant, anytime, anywhere!

This was the true source of a Floating City’s mobility, not simply the fact that it could fly.

A Floating City was no such clumsy tool.

To get back on track, a Floating City was so powerful that Isaac naturally had to strive for one. Otherwise, wouldn’t all his "cheats" be a waste?

So, he still had to keep climbing the leaderboard, just in a different way. The Sect didn’t only offer missions for fighting on the front lines. After all, they were Wizards—high-IQ talents!

Aside from their individual combat prowess, every High-Level Mage also possessed immense production capacity. Some were practically their own walking production lines!

It would be illogical not to leverage such a huge advantage. Otherwise, how could they possibly go head-to-head with that bunch of shut-ins from the Mechanical God Sect and their Demonic Puppets?

Therefore, in addition to combat assignments, the Sect also offered many production missions, and the contribution points they awarded were no lower than those for combat.

As for the other reason he continued to take missions...

...it was because the War between the Flesh Sect and the Mechanical God Sect hadn’t ended just because a small fry like Isaac had left the stage. On the contrary, the mission he completed before his departure had, to a large extent, further escalated the War’s intensity!

Isaac’s single sacrificial ritual had completely wiped the defenses at the Chaotic Sky Sea off the map. This forced the Mechanical God Sect to deploy more Mages to garrison the area, and if they increased their forces there, they inevitably had to reduce them elsewhere.

The Flesh Sect naturally wouldn’t let such a prime opportunity slip by. They immediately organized a ferocious counteroffensive and, for a time, achieved outstanding results!

But the Mechanical God Sect was no pushover!

As a Wizard Organization on par with the Flesh Sect, its structure was immense. So immense, in fact, that while the Flesh Sect had achieved impressive results in a short time, it hadn’t dealt a crippling blow to the Mechanical God Sect.

Of course, even if it wasn’t a crippling blow, it was humiliating!

As the saying goes, a tree needs its bark, and a person needs their reputation.

After suffering such a major loss, the Mechanical God Sect certainly wouldn’t take it lying down. They immediately launched an even fiercer counteroffensive!

Once they upped the ante, the Flesh Sect—already holding a major advantage and also needing to save face—upped their own ante in response. This back-and-forth escalation drove the intensity of the War even higher!

Under such grim circumstances, the Flesh Sect would only mobilize more Wizards to participate in the War, not let anyone sit idle. Thus, mandatory missions were issued one after another.

Fortunately, the Sect took Isaac’s concerns into account. The tasks they assigned him were mostly production-based, such as brewing Magic Potions and creating Demons.

The few combat missions he did receive weren’t very difficult; he could easily complete them by dispatching his Servant Demons.

Amidst these busy days, Isaac’s relocation plan proceeded smoothly.

Time trickled by. Just as Isaac finished all the preliminary preparations for his move and all that remained was to relocate his Mage Tower, a peculiar mission was delivered into his hands...

’Decipher Magic?’

「Mage Tower - Study」

Isaac stared curiously at the parchment in his hand. The mission from the Sect this time was rather peculiar. They were actually asking him to decipher the Magic of the Mechanical God Sect...

’How did something like this land in my lap?’

’Of course, it’s not that I can’t do it. In fact, with my [Analysis] Authority, I’m quite adept at this sort of thing—even more so than some Tier Four Mages!’

’But only some Tier Four Mages, and even then, just a fraction of them.’

’Throughout this War, from the very beginning, the task of deciphering enemy Magic has been handled exclusively by a Tier Five Mage. It’s the same on the Mechanical God Sect’s side. There’s simply no room on that stage for a small fry like me.’

’But now...’

Gazing at the parchment, Isaac, now intrigued, summoned his Sect Magic Book and pressed the parchment to it. A flash of crimson light flared, and a blood-red page materialized before him, covered in twisted Demon God script!

In that instant, Isaac understood why they had come to him...

’This is my field of expertise!’
