Wizard: Scamming a Demon God
Chapter 335 - 242: A Match Made in Heaven?
Chapter 335: Chapter 242: A Match Made in Heaven?
He didn’t know?
Isaac scratched his head in confusion. He then transformed back into a stream of Magic Power and shot toward the explosion site. ’I’ll know what’s going on once I get there.’
Before long, a wary Isaac arrived at the site of the explosion. The cautious expression on his face then melted away, replaced by sheer speechlessness...
He knew...
...what had happened.
As mentioned before, Wizards from the Mechanical God Sect were passionate about mechanical creations and cybernetic augmentation, especially of their own bodies. These two Wizards were no exception. Their bodies were filled with numerous mechanical modules, some to assist with Casting, others to enhance their Magic Power reserves.
However, after encountering Isaac’s two Authority Magics, these cybernetic enhancements—which had once granted them immense combat power—triggered a peculiar chemical reaction: all their modified parts went completely haywire!
Compounding the issue, their own Magic Power and minds were also affected, leaving them powerless to suppress the chain reaction of malfunctions inside their bodies...
And so, an explosion of unprecedented scale occurred!
However, something still seemed off. Isaac stroked his chin, a faint light flickering in his eyes as he activated his `Analysis` Authority. Streams of information flowed into his mind.
’Normally, this explosion shouldn’t have happened. The Ends of the Earth doesn’t just cause chaos; it imposes control. Edge of the World stretches the "distance" between matter to be infinitely long, while Cape shrinks it to be infinitely short.’
’Whether infinitely long or infinitely short, the essence of the ability is to create an unbridgeable chasm between matter, preventing any interaction. That’s what makes these two spells so powerful and terrifying.’
’So, even if the constructed parts malfunctioned under the influence of my Authority, they shouldn’t have exploded. The explosion itself should have been contained by The Ends of the Earth and quelled.’
’But in reality, the explosion happened anyway!’
Isaac had a rough theory about this...
Soon, his `Analysis` Authority provided him with the answer.
With a wave of his right hand, Isaac summoned some metal fragments from the ruins, which were still churning with volatile Magic Power. They flew out and hovered steadily above his palm.
A slight smile touched Isaac’s lips as he stored the fragments away.
Just as he’d thought. The explosion was related to that Knight from earlier. The `Perfect Flesh Body` Authority did indeed possess the ability to grant Immunity to other Authorities—or at least, it had some resistance to his own `Positive Infinitesimal`.
However, since no one had ever mastered the `Positive Infinitesimal` Authority before, Isaac suspected it more likely provided a degree of Immunity to most, if not all, Authorities.
The traces of power lingering on these mechanical fragments were identical to the Knight’s Authority Power. And no matter how fanatical the Wizards of the Mechanical God Sect were about cybernetic modification, they wouldn’t install a bunch of useless parts on themselves.
’From a tactical standpoint, the probability that they would equip themselves with this is quite high. This might have even been one of their trump cards!’
’It’s a shame, really. No one could have expected such a dramatic turn of events...’
’The very power they saw as their ace in the hole, meant to bring them victory at the most critical moment, ended up being their downfall...’
Shaking his head, Isaac sighed inwardly. ’It seems you really can’t go to extremes in this world. Otherwise, you might not even know what hit you.’
He casually tossed away the mechanical fragments. A Magic Scroll materialized, rapidly unfurling as it soared into the sky. Fluctuations of Magic Power converged, and a shimmering curtain of light slowly descended.
At the same time, dark rifts materialized behind Isaac. His Dimension Apostles emerged, transforming into streaks of black light that rained down upon the island. They began pulling the Golems and Demonic Puppets Isaac had immobilized into his Dimension World.
’I’ve really struck it rich with this mission!’
Once the Dimension Apostles were in motion, Isaac flew over to the High-level Knights he had immobilized. He fired a high-powered Magic Cannon blast at each one, reducing them to ashes.
Before long, Isaac had scoured the entire island clean. The Demonic Puppets and Golems were all moved into his Dimension World. Even the ore deposits on the deserted island transformed into streams of light, forcibly torn from the land and absorbed into the curtain of light in the sky. It all finally shrank down into a small scroll in Isaac’s hand.
After completing his mission, Isaac didn’t linger. He was swallowed by a dark rift and vanished from the area.
This time, however, he didn’t travel to his own Dimension World, but to the Sect Dimension.
After turning in the mission, Isaac first made sure to secure the High-level Knight who possessed the `Perfect Flesh Body` Authority, sealing him away in his Dimension World. Then, he went back to taking combat missions for the Sect.
Yes, the state of the war had changed once more.
Although Isaac had completed his mission quickly, in the time he was away, Wizards from the Mechanical God Sect had destroyed three more of the Flesh Sect’s large islands, further escalating the conflict.
The rate of missions assigned to members had shot up from one per year to one per month.
Of course, the rewards were also extremely generous.
In addition to mission rewards, a contribution leaderboard was established for Wizards of every Level. The top fifty Wizards on the board would receive extra rewards.
This leaderboard was a major reason Isaac decided to continue taking missions. Among the rewards for the top ten on the Tier Three contribution board was something incredible: the construction blueprint for the Norman Floating City!
A Floating City construction blueprint!
’It may not be the latest model, but that makes no difference to me. Even an older version of this blueprint is incredibly difficult to obtain.’
’Unless I was willing to exchange Knowledge for the relevant data, but the cost-effectiveness of that is terrible. I’d have to be out of my mind to do that.’
’So, under normal circumstances, this is the closest I’ll ever get to a Floating City. Even if I get the blueprint, I’ll still have to gather materials and study the technology. Actual construction is a long way off, but at least I can finally start preparing the plan, right?’
So, the moment he saw it, Isaac decided he would climb that leaderboard.
Of course, this wasn’t a snap decision. First, his personal combat power was nothing to scoff at. As for a team, his Followers were formidable fighters, and the other High-level Mages in his research group were also quite powerful.
Finally, the Flesh Sect’s main enemy was the Mechanical God Sect, and the Mechanical God Sect...
To be honest, was their perfect counter.
And in his subsequent actions, Isaac proved this point decisively. Over the next three months, he only accepted combat missions—a total of fifteen, averaging five per month.
This was an exceptionally high frequency for a High-level Mage.
More importantly, his completion rate for these fifteen missions was one hundred percent.
Aside from three missions where he encountered Wizards from other Magic Factions and had to put in some extra effort, all the others were against Wizards from the Mechanical God Sect. And as for the Mechanical God Sect’s Wizards...
The moment he used The Ends of the Earth, ninety percent of their combat effectiveness was nullified.
And if he ran into any Wizards equipped with the Immunity Power Module, that was like hitting the jackpot...
However, whether it was because the module was difficult to produce or had other flaws, Isaac had only encountered two more Wizards equipped with it in the past three months, besides the initial pair.
Of course, even if his opponents weren’t equipped with this "Suicide Module," it was only a matter of a little extra effort for Isaac. At his current level, ordinary High-level Mages were no longer a match for him.
The rewards for such high-frequency missions were exceptionally rich. He shot straight into the top ten, landing at number eight on the contribution leaderboard.
Those ranked ahead of him weren’t necessarily stronger. They had either been fighting from the very beginning or were specifically aiming to climb the leaderboard with a professional team backing them up. The team would complete missions together, but all the contribution points were funneled to one person, resulting in a higher rank.
But that was precisely why Isaac, who had charged into the top ten all by himself, was all the more dazzling.
