Wizard: Scamming a Demon God
Chapter 283 - 216: Powerful Beast of March
Chapter 283: Chapter 216: Powerful Beast of March
Yes, a dimensional rift!
Isaac didn’t even use Phase Space, just so he could make a clean getaway.
If it were Tier Three Demons, even three normal Tier Three Upper-rank Demons, he would have fought without hesitation and been confident of victory. But...
The Beast of March was different. It was a Divine Favored—and an extremely powerful one at that. Fight it?
Fight it, my ass!
He wanted to go settle the score with that bastard Siwal right now. What kind of damn High-level Demon was that!
Seeing the human flee without a moment’s hesitation, the three Beasts of March looked astonished. ’He’s... running that fast? But this man is clearly very strong, isn’t he?’
’If we really fought, he could definitely destroy our first form... but...’
’Still, it’s better that he ran. This way, His Eminence’s plan won’t be disrupted.’
After glancing in the direction Isaac had fled and confirming he wouldn’t be returning, they turned and walked back into the depths of the valley, disappearing into the shadows.
In truth, they weren’t sure if Isaac would return. Because he had retreated through a Dimension, their eyes were completely unable to perceive its traces.
In other words, if Isaac wanted to circle back for a surprise attack, they wouldn’t even see it coming. That glance was nothing more than an instinctual habit.
But Isaac wasn’t that stupid. There was no point in even trying against an opponent he definitely couldn’t beat. That thing was a damn Tier Four!
From Tier Three onward, fighting above one’s tier was already a near-impossibility. The gap between tiers was immense—a world of difference!
The few exceptions were all practitioners of Transformation Magic. For example, a senior member of Isaac’s own Sect research group was a master of Giant Dragon Transformation Magic. Despite being Tier Four, he could transform into a Tier Five Giant Dragon, giving him immense combat power.
At least, as far as Isaac currently knew, there was no other way besides Transformation Magic to fight above one’s tier from Tier Three onward.
That was why Isaac had retreated so decisively.
...
「The next day. Nebula City, at the opulent headquarters of the Truth Association.」
Isaac sat in a reception room, sipping fruit juice while he quietly waited for Siwal to arrive.
He had contacted Siwal the moment he got back yesterday, but he hadn’t mentioned any specifics, only scheduling a meeting for today.
Normally, since the hunt for the Beast of March had failed, their deal would naturally be off. But...
Isaac wanted to take a gamble. He was betting that Siwal actually knew the Sub-plane contained the Beast of March. After all, the Beast of March was a Follower Demon of the Moon Goddess, and one of Siwal’s previous conditions had been to usurp the Moon Goddess’s Divine Authority to create Followers.
There was no way a powerful Deity’s Follower Demon would appear in that Sub-plane for no reason—especially not a powerful Demon that could reach Tier Four at its peak!
From Isaac’s understanding of Deities, those beings wouldn’t casually deploy forces in a Sub-plane, especially one that was about to merge with the Real World...
’There has to be a scheme at play here.’
But Isaac wasn’t interested in what plans the Moon Goddess might have. He just wanted to talk to Siwal. Perhaps there was still a chance to bring him on board?
He was quite interested in a madman who dared to usurp the Divine Authority of a True God.
A short while later, Siwal walked in. A flash of surprise crossed his eyes when he saw Isaac was completely unharmed. While he had guessed Isaac hadn’t fought the Beast of March, the valley also contained several High-level Earth Elemental Spirits besides the beast in the Sub-plane. Those things were not to be trifled with either.
At least for the Wizards of his Flesh Sect, Demons like Elemental Spirits were rather difficult to handle, especially for a newly promoted High-level Mage like Isaac.
"Where’s the item?" Despite his inner surprise, Siwal sat down across from Isaac with a calm expression and spoke nonchalantly.
Isaac lifted his juice, took a small sip, and smiled faintly. "I don’t like to beat around the bush, so I’ll be direct. The Demon in the Sub-plane was a Beast of March—one that can reach Tier Four in its second form. As a powerful Follower Demon of the Moon Goddess, it couldn’t have just appeared in any old Sub-plane, let alone one on the verge of merging."
Hearing this, Siwal’s expression changed. He stared at Isaac, a mixture of shock and suspicion in his eyes. After a moment, he sighed and gave Isaac a smile of admiration. "As expected of a God-Usurper. Not only are you powerful, but your perception is also incredibly sharp."
Isaac just smiled slightly and said nothing.
Siwal sighed again. "It was a test. You passed. I’ll join your research project. But... are you sure you want to hear about my plan?"
Siwal narrowed his eyes, a cryptic smile playing on his lips as he looked at Isaac.
Isaac raised an eyebrow. A plan involving a True God, and likely not a pleasant one at that. There was no need to get mixed up in that kind of mess unless there was nothing but benefits, or a reason he couldn’t refuse.
"Then there’s no need. If your research later requires me to know about this plan, you can tell me then." With that, Isaac extended his right hand. "So, shall we call it a successful collaboration?"
"A successful collaboration indeed!" Siwal smiled, extending his own right hand to shake Isaac’s.
The two then took out their Sect’s Magic Books and registered each other, which served as an exchange of contact information. At the same time, they also filed a preliminary application in the Magic Book for the research group Isaac had proposed. However, this was just a preliminary step. Joining a research group, especially one led by a High-level Mage, was a rather serious affair.
After all, with Tier Four and higher Mages rarely active in the mundane world, the Tier Three High-level Wizards were the backbone of the Flesh Sect. Naturally, they had to be afforded a certain status and respect.
Stepping out of the Truth Association’s building, Isaac let out a long sigh of relief. Finally, one objective was complete.
Next...
Hmm, three objectives to go.
But these next three guys...
They were going to be a bit harder to find.
One was a veteran High-level Mage who had written two Self-Legends and was now searching the world for a talented writer, hoping to create a good story.
Another had written two Self-Legends and one fantasy Legend. He was also roaming the world, preparing for the Miracle required to advance to Tier Four Mage.
The last one was busy with the War in his home country, so he wouldn’t be easy to find either...
However, Isaac wasn’t planning on finding all of them. He had no intention of looking for the second one. While a research project directly related to one’s field was very attractive to a Wizard, it wasn’t more important than advancing to Tier Four, so the chance of success was low.
Besides, even if he went through the trouble of finding him, given how unorthodox Isaac’s research project was, the man might not agree to join anyway.
The other two, however, were worth a proper search, and he could look for them simultaneously. The first one was simple: he just had to release information on the Sect’s forums that Isaac was the author of *Cinderella*, *The Ugly Duckling*, and *Snow White*. The man searching for a talented writer would naturally come knocking, or at least, it was highly probable.
And doing so wouldn’t stop Isaac from going to that war-torn country to find the third Wizard.
"Let’s go, then." Standing at the entrance of the Association, Isaac looked out at the bustling crowds, let out a breath, and started walking toward the city outskirts with Liu Li.
While moving via Phase Space was convenient, he had to get outside the city first. Nebula City’s administration was relatively lax compared to other cities, but something like Space Teleportation was still forbidden.
After all, what was the difference between allowing that and having no defenses at all?
Nebula City was a major commercial hub with a considerable amount of wealth accumulated within its walls. While the might of the Terra Empire deterred most of the hungry wolves eyeing it, there were still quite a few, and every single one of them was a relatively powerful faction.
At the very least, teleporting an army using Space Magic would be an easy feat for them.
...
「Eastern Terra Empire · Norwegian Kingdom · Border City of Benos · Rooftop of the Adventurers’ Tavern」
Faint ripples in space suddenly appeared, and the figures of Isaac and Liu Li emerged from them. He curiously surveyed his surroundings, a strange sense of melancholy washing over him as he looked at the desolate streets.
Whether in his past life or this one, he had always hated war-torn places...
