Chapter 142: Chapter 106: Frenzied Consciousness and the Eye of Truth
The Protective Talisman could only last for half an Hourglass. His was already mostly depleted, and Evelyn’s had just been activated. Only Ella and Twilight still had one new talisman each.
The cyan bird face had clearly noticed this as well. Its gaze swept over the talismans, and the smile at the corners of its beak widened.
"Consider joining me; I will make you all incredibly powerful!" Its tone softened a little.
Seeing the four unmoved, it added coldly, "Otherwise, when I break free, your civilization will face an apocalyptic disaster."
The four of them exchanged strange glances.
Ella, holding her little bear, remained expressionless, but the corners of her mouth twitched slightly.
Evelyn lowered her head, masking a stifled snort with a cough, while Twilight’s Black Fog churned briefly before settling back into calmness.
Chen Shang kept a straight face, remaining silent for a moment.
He almost lost his composure.
The cyan bird face claimed it would bring an apocalyptic disaster to the Wizard World.
A Wind Element creature with only a remnant soul—whose physical body had been trapped in the Fire Elemental Plane for thousands of years—claimed it would bring doom to the Pan-Wizard Alliance.
The Wizards wouldn’t even need to intervene personally. If the Wizard fanatics heard this, they would shove its bird face right up its bird ass.
Taking a deep breath, he suppressed his amusement and looked away from the cyan bird face. He turned to Twilight and stated concisely, "Set up the Teleportation Array."
After the Divine Sword was fully cleansed, the best course of action would be to teleport away immediately.
If those Fire Elemental Spirits dared to chase them all the way to the High Tower... By the Plane Will, he hoped those fools could withstand the wrath of a Wizard whose experiment had been interrupted.
Twilight nodded. Black Fog surged outward, spreading across the cavern floor to outline the Runes of the Teleportation Array.
However, the concentration of the Fire Element here was too high. It had almost solidified into physical matter, scorching every wisp of Spiritual Power that reached out. The Flame Heart Talisman’s protective radius could not cover the entire Teleportation Array.
What was more troublesome was that although the cyan bird face was trapped within the Heart of Fire, it could still mobilize a small fraction of Wind Element authority, creating minute disturbances at Twilight’s Rune nodes.
A shift in direction by half a degree, a slight excess of energy, or uneven thickness in the lines—every single disturbance caused the Rune Array to collapse just as it was on the verge of forming.
Fine beads of sweat formed on Twilight’s forehead.
"Brat, it seems you are intent on being stubborn." The cyan bird face’s voice echoed from within the Heart of Fire, laced with a hint of impatience. "Then wait to perish together with me."
The Heart of Fire’s consciousness quickly spoke up, its pale gold light flashing urgently, "Don’t worry, I absolutely won’t let those fools rush in here!"
Its tone was earnest, but Chen Shang did not respond. He focused all his attention entirely on the sword resting on the stone pedestal.
The cyan patterns on the blade were fading at a visible rate. For every inch they retreated, the crimson firelight grew a fraction brighter.
The Heart of Fire mobilized all its strength, continuously channeling the Fire Element from the Earth Veins into the stone pedestal, washing over the blade that had been eroded by the Wind Element for three hundred years.
The cyan impurities evaporated under the intense heat, turning into wisps of cyan smoke that drifted up from the blade’s surface, only to be swallowed by the Heart of Fire’s light and completely purified.
The light of Evelyn’s Flame Heart Talisman dimmed and completely went out. Ella took her talisman from her neck and activated it.
A quarter of an hour later, the last trace of cyan patterning on the blade vanished.
Crimson light burst forth from the interior of the sword, like a wild beast finally breaking free from its shackles after three hundred years of imprisonment.
The color of the blade shifted from dark red to bright gold, and then to a blazing white that Chen Shang had never seen before.
He opened the interface.
[Extractable entry detected: Fire Elemental Eye (Blue) — Source: Hephaestus’ Sword. Completeness: 75%. Extract?]
Extract! Blue light flowed into the interface, and the text on it flickered once more.
[Mythical Resonance conditions met!]
[True Sight Eye of Earth, Water, and Wind (Purple) + Fire Elemental Eye (Blue) can be fused. Fuse?]
Chen Shang took a deep breath, suppressing the excitement in his heart. Fuse!
Two rays of light, one Blue and one Purple, began to swirl together. A moment later, a new entry was formed. The [Eye of True Sight] had upgraded to the [Eye of Truth]!
[Eye of Truth (Orange): The advanced form of the Eye of True Sight, representing a qualitative mutation after gathering the Four Basic Elements.
Glimpse the Essence: Elements return to their origin within its field of vision. There is no longer any distinction between Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth—only flowing energy.
See Through Illusions: Abilities that conceal reality, such as Illusion Techniques, disguises, invisibility, and shapeshifting, become meaningless within its vision. It can perceive the flow of Earth Veins, energy nodes, and the core flaws in Magic structures. It can even see the traces left by "time" on objects.
When concentrating all Spiritual Power, one can briefly glimpse the gaps in true time. Upgradeable.]
Chen Shang closed his eyes and opened them again.
The Obsidian floor before him was no longer black. Instead, it was an intricate web of countless fine, glowing golden lines. These were the paths of the Fire Element flowing through the rock, with each line possessing its own speed, direction, and pulsation.
He looked at the Heart of Fire’s orb of light. It was no longer a blurry glow but a precise blueprint of an Energy Structure.
The pale gold Fire Element Origin and the cyan Wind Element chains intertwined like two snakes. Every line, every node, and every tangle was clearly visible.
He could even see the minute "wear and tear" on those nodes—the traces left behind by the repeated tearing of the Wind Element’s will during the Heart of Fire’s millennium-long struggle.
He looked at the cyan bird face. That face was no longer a face, but a twisted Spirit Body. Twelve cyan tentacles, as thin as hair, extended from its base, piercing right into the crevices of the Heart of Fire’s origin.
