Chapter 628: Chapter 50: Heaven and Earth Are Born with Me, and All Things Are One with Me

"Rodrick, are you sure the monster from the Nightmare World is here?"

Mickey fell backward, but the pain of hitting the ground he expected never came.

An invisible force caught him and set him back on his feet.

"That’s right, sir." A respectful voice spoke up, tinged with a hint of cautious eagerness to please. "This is where the nightmare monster is located."

The youth’s voice sounded again, a contemplative note in his tone. "To think a monster would live in such an ordinary room..."

Hearing them conversing so leisurely, Mickey was overcome with panic.

He had no time to wonder about who these two were, nor could he spare a thought for how they had opened the door he couldn’t budge with all his might.

His entire focus was fixed on the mother in front of him.

The mother was slowly closing in.

Slowly, yes, but her twisted face was already right before him.

Inside the massive mouth that split her face from ear to ear, jagged teeth scraped against each other with a grating GRIND... GRIND...

Viscous drool dripped onto the floor, drop by drop, corroding pits into the wood that sizzled with green smoke.

"Good boy, come into Mother’s arms—"

The gentle, loving voice echoed from that horrifying maw, reverberating through the empty room.

Mickey felt himself being drowned by a tide of terror and despair.

He couldn’t think of anything else.

He could only watch, paralyzed, as that giant mouth drew closer and closer, about to swallow him whole.

"Noisy!"

A calm voice rang out.

It was quiet, yet it cut through everything with perfect clarity.

The mother’s words stopped abruptly.

A streak of crimson light shot past Mickey from behind, so fast he could barely track its path.

The light struck the mother’s enormous body.

And then, her mountain-like form was instantly sent flying.

No, not just sent flying.

It was blown apart.

Like smoke scattered by a gale, like a painting splashed with water, like a stack of blocks toppled by a tremendous force.

The mother’s body disintegrated in mid-air. Countless fragments flew everywhere, slamming into the walls and floor with dull thuds.

Mickey’s eyes widened.

’How is this possible?’

Everything he had thrown—the cup, the pillow, the chair—had passed right through the mother’s body as if she were a phantom.

But this crimson light had actually hit her, had actually blown her apart.

He whipped his head around to look behind him.

Two figures were standing outside the door. He didn’t know when they had arrived.

One was a youth in a long black robe, his hair as dark as ink, standing there quietly.

His face was expressionless, his calm gaze fixed on the mother’s remains on the floor.

The other was a middle-aged man in a dark gray formal suit, standing respectfully half a step behind the youth.

"The Nightmare World is full of all sorts of strange and wondrous things." The middle-aged man seemed to sense the youth’s unasked question and explained in a low voice, "Since it is born from the dreams of mortals across countless planes, it’s not surprising for a monster to appear in an ordinary room. Besides, in the Nightmare World, there’s no such thing as a truly ’ordinary room.’"

The youth nodded slightly, saying nothing more.

’Nightmare? Planes?’

Mickey caught those words.

A thought suddenly flashed through his mind.

’A Dream Maker?’

’The legendary Dream Makers who can enter the dreams of others, weave dreams, and create anything?’

He remembered the stories from his childhood, how Dream Makers were beings who could travel between dreams and reality.

’Could these two be the legendary Dream Makers?’

"You’re Master Dream Makers!" Mickey blurted out, his voice filled with uncontrollable excitement.

The youth paid him no mind.

He strode forward, walking straight toward the mother on the floor.

Mickey watched as the youth’s figure walked toward him—and then passed straight through his body.

Just like how the mother had passed through those objects.

Like passing through air, a phantom, a nonexistent void.

Mickey froze.

He looked down at his own body, then back at the youth who had now reached the mother’s side.

’Am I... am I also a being of this dream?’

’No.’

’That’s not right!’

The youth was different from the mother.

The mother had been gray and blurry, requiring him to focus his attention just to make out her details.

But this youth was different.

He was perfectly clear, sharp and distinct.

His black robe, his long black hair, every contour, every detail—it was all absurdly clear.

Just like... just like a person from the real world.

’But why could he pass through my body?’

Mickey stood there in a daze, his mind a complete mess.

The youth had already walked over to the scattered remains of the mother.

It was only then that Mickey saw clearly what the crimson light that had destroyed the mother was—

It was a sword.

A crimson sword. It slowly rose from the ground and hovered at the youth’s side. A faint red glow pulsed along its blade, rising and falling like a breath, illuminating the youth’s placid profile.

The youth bent down and placed his hand on the mother.

The mother’s scattered body was slowly writhing, attempting to pull itself back together.

The fragments, as if they had a life of their own, were inching toward the center, trying to reform into their original shape.

But the moment the youth’s hand made contact, everything stopped.

The writhing fragments began to converge on the youth’s palm.

No, not converge.

They were being absorbed.

Like a whale swallowing the sea, like a black hole devouring light.

The huge, mountain-like fragments of the body were being sucked into the youth’s palm at a speed visible to the naked eye, disappearing into him.
