Wizard: I Have a Cultivation System
Chapter 600 - 38: Silver Tower
Chapter 600: Chapter 38: Silver Tower
Then, disaster struck out of nowhere.
Several creatures that had smuggled themselves in from an Outer Plane clashed with pursuing enforcers from the Imperial Magic Net Administration Bureau in a fierce street battle.
Alonso happened to be passing by that day.
A stray shockwave struck him in the chest.
When he woke up, he found he had been in the hospital for three months.
The medical bills wiped out twenty years of his savings.
And it still wasn’t enough.
He was also saddled with a massive debt.
So now, he had no choice but to toil away at work once more.
Wearing this server’s uniform, standing here, smiling at every person who passed by.
"Alonso!"
The supervisor’s voice called out again, even more impatient than before.
"What are you doing just standing there! The VIPs will be here any second! Get in position, now!"
Alonso snapped out of it, a smile instantly plastered on his face. He knew he wasn’t standing in the wrong place. He was already in the correct position.
It was just the supervisor giving him a hard time on purpose.
As one of the Imperial People, the supervisor had a natural dislike for outsiders like him.
Even though Alonso had a permanent resident card, even though he had lived here for thirty years, in the supervisor’s eyes, he was still an "outsider."
"Yes, Supervisor. I’ll get right in position."
Alonso readjusted his stance, a standard, professional smile on his face.
Nearby, a few other servers in the same uniform watched him coldly, the corners of their mouths curled in a faint, mocking sneer.
Like the supervisor, they were native-born Imperial People.
In their eyes, someone like Alonso who came from an Outer Plane, no matter how well he worked, would always be an "outsider."
They had always treated those like Alonso, who came from the Outer Planes, with disdain.
Forever second-class.
Forever unworthy of standing with them as equals.
Alonso paid them no mind.
He had long since learned not to care.
He just stood there, a smile fixed on his face, waiting for the next car.
A stretch limousine slowly pulled up and stopped at the entrance.
Alonso instinctively took a step forward, ready to open the door.
It was his job.
However, a young server next to him rushed out faster, beating him to the car door. His face was plastered with a sycophantic grin.
Alonso stopped in his tracks.
He understood.
It was for the tip.
Opening the door for a VIP often meant a generous tip.
The servers who were Imperial natives always scrambled to do this sort of thing.
And an "outsider" like him could only stand aside and wait for the jobs they didn’t want.
Alonso took a step back, the smile still fixed on his face.
The car door opened.
Then, a pair of slender legs, sheathed in black over-the-knee boots, emerged from the car.
The legs were so fair they were dazzling, and set against the black leather boots, their beauty was breathtaking.
Next, a young woman stepped out of the car.
A black leather tube top, an extremely short black leather skirt, over-the-knee boots, long flaxen hair, and emerald green eyes.
Her face, as exquisite as a doll’s, held a hint of languid nonchalance.
She stood by the car door, her gaze sweeping casually over her surroundings.
The server who had rushed forward was already bowing deeply, his face wreathed in smiles. "My Lady, welcome to the Silver Tower!"
The young woman didn’t look at him.
She simply turned and extended a hand back into the car.
A small, slender hand, its nails painted a glossy black.
From inside the car, another hand reached out and took hers.
A man in a long, black tunic stepped out of the car.
His hair was as black as ink, his expression serene.
Alonso’s gaze fell on that face.
Those eyes.
Pitch-black and bottomless.
Alonso stood where he was, still maintaining his professional smile.
But in his heart, a monstrous wave crashed.
