Wizard: I Have a Cultivation System
Chapter 598 - 38: Silver Tower
Chapter 598: Chapter 38: Silver Tower
「Three days later.」
The early morning sun shone through the building’s glass curtain wall, casting dappled light and shadows on the ground before the portico.
A black limousine was already parked at the entrance, its body gleaming with a low-key, luxurious luster in the sunlight.
Carlos stood by the car door, dressed in a well-tailored, dark gray suit, his hair combed immaculately.
He bowed slightly, waiting for the glass door that was about to open.
He had been summoned on short notice to be the driver for the day.
As a First-Level Wizard about to graduate and worried about his future, being personally assigned a task by his mentor, Douglas, was an opportunity he couldn’t have hoped for.
The glass doors slid open silently.
Cheris stepped out.
Her top was a black leather bustier, tightly wrapping her burgeoning curves. Its edges were trimmed with fine silver chains that glinted with a cold, metallic light in the sun.
Below the bustier, her flat stomach was completely exposed. A wide, matching belt cinched her slender waist, from which several thin silver chains hung, swaying gently with her steps.
She wore an extremely short black leather skirt, so short it barely covered the tops of her thighs.
Her two long, straight legs were completely bare, her fair skin looking dazzlingly white against the black leather.
On her feet was a pair of over-the-knee, high-heeled black leather boots. The shafts clung tightly to her calves, and the heels were thin and high, making her already long legs look even more stunning.
Her flaxen hair fell over her shoulders, the ends permed into gentle waves that floated lightly with her stride.
She wore exquisite makeup: faint, beige eyeshadow and glossy, nude lip color, which made her large, emerald-green eyes seem even more vibrant.
A pair of small silver studs adorned her earlobes, a thin silver chain was on her wrist, and her nails were painted with a glossy, mirror-black polish.
And behind her was Murphy.
He followed half a step behind Cheris, dressed in a long black robe, his hair as dark as ink, his expression serene.
However, what made Carlos’s breath catch was the sight of Douglas—his lofty mentor whom he barely dared to look in the eye—naturally taking Murphy’s arm the moment she stepped outside.
’That "high-level nightmare specimen" he’d brought out of the sewers.’
’That "cargo" which should have been locked in a lab, studied, dissected, and milked for every last drop of value.’
’And his mentor had personally taken his arm.’
"Let’s go."
Cheris tilted her head and gave Murphy a sweet smile, one that, to Carlos, seemed to hold a hint of flirtatious charm.
Murphy didn’t speak, just nodded slightly.
The two of them walked side-by-side toward the limousine.
Carlos stood frozen in place, his expression stiffening for a moment.
He quickly lowered his head, bowed, and said in his most respectful tone, "After you, Mentor."
Cheris glanced at him as if only just remembering he existed.
"Oh, Carlos."
Her voice still had that sweet, almost childish tone, yet it sent a chill down Carlos’s spine.
"Driving to the Silver Tower shouldn’t be a problem, right?"
Carlos hastily bowed and said, "Not at all, Mentor. Please, don’t worry."
He hurried to the rear passenger door, pulled it open, and held his hand over the top of the doorframe.
Cheris let go of Murphy’s arm and slid gracefully into the back seat.
Murphy followed her in.
Carlos gently closed the door, took a deep breath, walked around to the driver’s seat, and started the car.
The limousine pulled away from the building smoothly, merging into the flow of traffic.
Cheris leaned back against the seat and crossed her legs. Her over-the-knee boots overlapped, the toe of one swaying gently.
She turned her head to look at Murphy, the corners of her mouth turning up slightly.
"So, what do you think? Do you like my new outfit?"
Murphy’s gaze shifted from the window, resting on her for a moment.
"It’s nice."
His voice was calm, betraying no emotion.
Cheris blinked, a glint of slyness flashing in her emerald eyes.
"What’s nice about it?"
Murphy was silent for a second.
"All of it."
Cheris chuckled, leaning forward slightly to get closer to Murphy.
"You’re just humoring me."
Her breath, carrying a faint, sweet scent, brushed against the side of Murphy’s face.
Murphy didn’t move or speak.
Cheris didn’t seem to mind. She drew back and leaned against the seat again, but her hand naturally came to rest on the back of Murphy’s.
Slender fingers, their tips painted with glossy black polish, gently covered the back of his hand.
Then, her fingers slipped between his, and she laced them together.
Murphy glanced down at their joined hands, then looked at Cheris, but ultimately said and did nothing.
He simply let her hold his hand, his gaze returning to the world outside the window.
Cheris tilted her head, giving him a sweet smile, her emerald eyes curving into crescents.
"Now you’re being good."
Carlos sat in the driver’s seat, his hands gripping the steering wheel, his eyes fixed firmly on the road ahead.
But his peripheral vision couldn’t help but stray to the rearview mirror.
The mirror clearly reflected the scene in the back seat.
Cheris was leaning against Murphy, one hand laced with his, wearing a soft smile he had never seen before.
And Murphy—the "cargo" he’d dragged out of the sewers, the "specimen" that should have been locked in a cage—was now sitting there, expressionless, letting his mentor...
...lean on him like a little girl.
