"To Nana Mage, thank you very much for providing the Nightmare Messenger..."

Wei’en recalled Flanta’s instructions on how to use the Messenger: he had to tell the creature his name in the Nightmare Realm and write the recipient’s name on the envelope, and the Nightmare Messenger would find them with unfailing accuracy.

So, he had written his request on a sheet of parchment—a deal for a Legendary Mage from the Spiritual Mystery School to cast the Destiny Barrier Spell. After addressing the envelope to Nana, he had tossed it to the creature.

"HISSS..." (Food when I return.)

"You’ll get your food after you deliver the letter."

Wei’en watched the Nightmare Worm swallow the letter in a single gulp, then start mumbling and haggling. He chuckled. "If you deliver it to the wrong person, or if there’s no reply, then *you’ll* be my food!"

"HISS!" (No!)

The Nightmare Worm shook its round head and waved its tentacles a few times. Its entire body slowly sank, vanishing from sight.

Oh?

Wei’en focused his senses for a moment. He was certain space hadn’t been torn, yet there was a subtle fluctuation of Extraordinary power as the Nightmare Worm vanished.

The sensation was just like...

Hm?

Wei’en mulled it over for a few seconds, recalling recent events. He couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow, his tone tinged with surprise. "A Realm?"

That had to be it...

The ripple from the Messenger’s disappearance was just like the viscous membrane of the Realm he’d encountered when using Shadow Step...

’So, the Messenger... no, the Nightmare Worm... uses a Divine Realm as a hub to find recipients or other Messengers?’

Wei’en recalled the sights he had seen upon entering the Realm of Death. It seemed the Nightmare Sovereign was also slumbering in such a realm.

However, compared to the deathly still Realm of Death, which teemed with the aura of death, the Nightmare World... the Nightmare Realm still had living creatures like the Nightmare Worms.

’Perhaps in the near future, the Nightmare Sovereign will be the first to awaken...’

Wei’en didn’t know why these gods had fallen into slumber, nor did he know the specific values required for the awakening progress indicated for them on his panel.

But he knew one thing for sure: the gods’ awakening would bring immense changes to the entire world.

’Maybe I should start gathering information about the gods ahead of time. Just in case!’

At this thought, Wei’en took out the journal where he recorded his daily experiences and made special note of the day’s events and his new to-do list.

"September 4th, 1578 of the New Era. Today was another eventful day..."

On this single day, he had not only taught Zero how to build Mechanical Puppets, but also helped Miss Zombie reach the Director level by devouring Undead Creatures. Meanwhile, his own power had increased tremendously by investing points into the Heart of Flesh Spell.

He had also learned that the Dusk Sect was collaborating with the Golden Disc Pirates, which led him to uncover some of Clelia’s secrets.

He had even attended a tower gathering where he’d shown off a little by revealing some flaws in Magic Runes.

Furthermore, at the Ghost Research Institute, he had met with its members to finalize their upcoming plans.

The last and greatest achievement was likely getting the source fusion method for Extraordinaries from the Clown, which showed him a path to even greater power...

"...And yet, after all this, my understanding of this world hasn’t grown. Instead, with the emergence of the Dusk Sect, the progress of the Nightmare Sovereign’s awakening... and everything with Clelia, I find myself with more questions than ever..."

"Why did the Dusk Sect spend so long setting up Killing Intent Collectors and Slaughter Dreamscapes at sea? What is their goal?"

"Why did the gods fall into slumber?"

"How does a Wizard ascend to the Legendary rank?"

"What calamity befell the Clown—or rather, the Turing Empire of old—to make him hate his mother so much? And what about Tina, and Little White Fur...?"

"What secrets is Clelia hiding? And what about that Era Relic scroll..."

Having written this far, Wei’en finally set down his quill. He thoughtfully reread the words on the parchment.

His questions didn’t end there. There was also the feud between the Eternal Life Association and the Dusk Sect that he’d learned about the previous day, the secrets of the True God Church, and more.

He wanted to figure it all out, but constrained by his power and time, all he could do was improve himself as quickly as possible and learn more of the truth as events unfolded.

’Slowly, now. Don’t rush. I’ll figure all this out sooner or later...’

’Compared to the monotony of my past life, this world is far more exciting than I ever could have imagined...’

With these thoughts, Wei’en started to feel drowsy. He stood, tidied his workbench, and left the workshop, heading for the rest area.

By now, Tina and the others were no longer on the stage.

Wei’en muttered to himself, "I wonder if that little worm delivered the letter safely... and when it will bring back a reply from Nana Mage..."

TAP... TAP... TAP...

He walked at a steady pace across the empty stage, his footsteps echoing rhythmically throughout the theater.

Under the dim, yellow lights, his shadow stretched long, casting a giant silhouette on the opposite wall.

Yet, surrounding that massive shadow, sixteen monstrous heads flickered in and out of sight...

...

...

What Wei’en didn’t know was that as he drifted off to sleep, the entire Wizard World was losing sleep over the very issue he had raised at the tower gathering: the flaws in Magic Runes.

In the far east of the Eastern Continent stood the Spiritual Mystery School, its several tall towers hidden from the eyes of ordinary people, concealed against the night sky by a powerful Rune Array.
