Wizard: Grinding to Lord of Truth
Chapter 277 - 279: Eerie Calm
Chapter 277: Chapter 279: Eerie Calm
"This isn’t exciting at all."
After slaying the last member of the Racial Alliance Army with his Splitting Heavy Sword, Andre lowered his head and gazed at the ground.
By now, a river of blood had formed on the ground, and corpses were strewn everywhere.
’Wait, what’s wrong with me?’
Andre looked at his Splitting Heavy Sword, seeing his own face in the reflection of the blade.
The moment he saw his reflection, Andre suddenly realized something was wrong. His expression was completely placid—so placid it was bizarre, even a little frightening.
And that was the root of the problem. Normally, anyone who had just fought such a battle and killed so many people would feel some kind of emotional turmoil.
But as he killed the members of the Racial Alliance Army, he felt like a tranquil lake, without the slightest ripple of emotion within him.
This was not right. It was very, very wrong. It meant his Spirit had undergone a massive change.
’When did this change to my Spirit happen?’
’And how did it happen so subtly?’
Andre began to review everything he had experienced since entering the Cosmic Sea World.
After thinking it over, Andre pinpointed the cause of his mental change: the World Origin Space.
He couldn’t find any other event that could explain such a transformation in his Spirit.
’The books I’ve read say that a world’s consciousness is a form of pan-consciousness. Unless it’s facing a world-ending catastrophe, the World Will is typically very indifferent and placid.’
’Could it be? When I released my Chaos Magic Power inside the World Origin Space, the Power of World Origin entered my body and ended up affecting me?’
’If that’s the case, this is not good at all.’
As this thought occurred to him, Andre’s expression instantly turned cold.
He was protected by the System, yet the World Will had still managed to affect him so profoundly.
’This means the corrosive nature of the World Will is every bit as potent as Chaos Magic Power.’
’It might even be more corrosive.’
’How do I reverse this change to my Spirit?’
Andre frowned as he mulled it over. He had a nagging feeling that if he didn’t handle this properly, it would lead to severe consequences.
’Damn it, I still haven’t read enough. If I had just cast a few mind-related Constant Witchcraft spells on myself, I wouldn’t have been affected this badly.’
Andre began to chastise himself for not reading enough.
If Radak, who knew just how many books Andre had read, were to hear this...
...he would probably get angry enough to pull out his Magic Staff and give Andre a sound thrashing.
Not read enough books? Andre had already read every single volume available to him in the Wizard Inheritance Hall.
And it had only taken him two years to read them all.
Two years. A speed that set a new record for the academy.
No one had been able to break that record in at least a thousand years.
’Still not enough books. Grandmaster told me I have access to all the academy’s data. Once I’m back on Chen Kun’s Ship, I’ll try to establish a link and download the entire library!’
Mulling this over, Andre descended toward the ground.
Soon, he landed.
He then raised his left hand and made a grasping motion, and a large number of corpses flew toward him.
The bodies piled up one on top of the other.
Once the corpses had formed a small mountain, Andre crooked his finger. A host of blood-stained items flew out from the bodies and landed before him.
With a mere thought, a stream of water shot out from the Ten Thousand Laws Wheel floating behind his head, washing the blood from all the items.
’The loot is pretty good,’ Andre thought. ’It’s just a shame about their Magical Beast Bloodlines.’
Andre stored the items in his Secret Realm. He looked at the mountain of corpses before him and shook his head.
In his opinion, the most valuable things on these corpses were the Magical Beast Bloodlines they had fused into their own bodies.
The cultivation path in the Cosmic Sea World allowed one to fuse the Bloodlines of different Magical Beasts into one’s own body.
Upon reaching the Morning Star Level, one would merge these scattered Magical Beast Bloodlines to form a new Magical Beast.
Only a Magical Beast Bloodline of that Morning Star Level was valuable enough to be extracted.
In contrast, the Magical Beast Bloodlines within the corpses before him were completely worthless to extract.
If he were to try to extract the Bloodlines from these corpses, the separation process alone would take him ten years, if not more.
In that decade, he could have already become a Morning Star Wizard.
"Next, I should prepare to become a Level 3 Wizard... huh? What’s this?"
Andre took a deep breath, completely unfazed by the reek of blood clinging to him. His body slowly shrank, eventually returning to his normal height of 1.9 meters.
As Andre shrank, the Splitting Heavy Sword also returned to its original size.
During this shrinking process, Andre made a surprising discovery: several of the damaged Witchcraft Arrays on the Splitting Heavy Sword had suddenly repaired themselves.
"What’s going on?"
Andre blinked, his eyes darting toward the mountain of corpses he had created.
’Could it be? The Splitting Heavy Sword can repair itself using the blood or Souls of its enemies?’
The thought suddenly surfaced in his mind.
He leaped into the air, plunged the Splitting Heavy Sword into the peak of the corpse mountain, and began to wait.
At first, the Splitting Heavy Sword showed no reaction. But three hours later, Andre heard a rustling sound coming from within the mountain of corpses, as if something was gnawing on the bodies inside.
But Andre was certain there were no living Magical Beasts within the pile.
’Then that must mean the Witchcraft Arrays on the Splitting Heavy Sword are starting to repair themselves?’
’If that’s the case, I wish I’d known sooner! I could have let the Splitting Heavy Sword recover back when I was in the Multi-Body World.’
Andre shook his head and tapped it lightly. He had never even considered this possibility before.
’Right... why would my ancestor have left this sword behind? Was it just because it had accompanied him through many battles?’
Andre then recalled the moment he first found the Splitting Heavy Sword in the Secret Realm.
Back then, the blade was on the verge of shattering.
It was nothing like a Morning Star Witchcraft Artifact. But after he had used it continuously—to slay the giant serpent and cut down the Racial Alliance Army—the Splitting Heavy Sword had slowly begun to regain its luster.
