Wizard: Grinding to Lord of Truth
Chapter 234 - 236: The Boring Genius
Chapter 234: Chapter 236: The Boring Genius
"What do you usually do?"
Red-haired Klein asked Andre as he modified the Master-Servant Contract.
"Usually, I read, concoct Potions, and when I get some inspiration, I design my own blueprints and craft Witchcraft Artifacts."
Andre blinked and began to think back. It was fine when he didn’t think about it, but now that he did, even he felt his life was a bit too dull.
"That’s all?" Red-haired Klein sounded a little skeptical.
"That’s all!" Andre nodded earnestly.
"Then what do you do when you’re short on resources?" Red-haired Klein began to question Andre.
"I sell Potions or blueprints, take on missions from the Task Hall, or craft Witchcraft Artifacts for others!"
Andre left Red-haired Klein speechless.
Selling Potions, selling blueprints, crafting Witchcraft Artifacts for others.
Each of these three activities was an easy way to earn Magic Stones and resources.
From this perspective, Andre really didn’t need to go on adventures or explore Secret Realms like everyone else.
"So besides concocting Potions, designing blueprints, and crafting Witchcraft Artifacts, do you just read in your spare time?"
Karina couldn’t help but interject. To her, Andre seemed like some kind of monster.
"Yeah. What else is there to do?"
Andre’s words left Karina completely speechless.
"What else is there to do? There are plenty of things you could be doing."
Karina’s eyes widened in disbelief. ’Listen to that! Is that something a man would say?’
"What else is there that’s worth my time?"
"A Wizard is a being who pursues Truth. Everything we do must be in service of that Truth."
"Everything I do is to help me better walk the path of pursuing Truth."
Andre’s speech left Red-haired Klein speechless and silenced Karina as well.
An Ascetic. He really was an Ascetic—more orthodox than even a proper Ascetic.
At this, Karina couldn’t help but shake her head.
In her eyes, Andre’s life was no different from an Ascetic’s, and perhaps even more arduous.
When Ascetics were out searching for natural Demon Patterns, they would at least stop by a tavern or an inn in a city or town to relax a bit.
But Andre? All he did day in and day out was read. If not reading, then he was concocting Potions, drawing blueprints, or crafting Witchcraft Artifacts.
"People with your kind of perseverance are truly rare these days."
Red-haired Klein looked at the Master-Servant Contract in his hands for a long time before turning to Andre with a resigned sigh.
Ever since the Wizard Civilization began its expeditions, more and more Otherworlds had been integrated, and with them came an increasing number of pleasures and amusements.
These included races like Dream Demons, Desire Demons, Succubi, and even Devils, Elves, and Fairies.
Beyond these races, there were also countless trinkets and devices for entertainment.
But Andre? He didn’t bother with any of it.
"It’s not so bad," Andre said, tilting his head as he thought about his life.
"You call this ’not so bad’?" Andre’s comment left Red-haired Klein at a loss for words.
What could he possibly say when Andre himself put it that way?
No wonder Andre could advance so rapidly on the path of Chaos Truth while also achieving a certain level of mastery in Pharmacy and Casting Science.
Anyone else living such a life, as long as they weren’t a complete idiot, would also be able to attain a certain degree of mastery.
"Don’t you find it boring?" Red-haired Klein asked, looking at Andre seriously.
His expression was grave. He truly wanted to know the answer.
"It might be a bit boring when you first start reading, but as you continue, you become immersed in the knowledge. At that point, you don’t even know what boredom is."
At Andre’s words, both Karina and Red-haired Klein let out a simultaneous sigh.
Faced with such a monotonous existence, the two of them simply couldn’t find the words to describe it.
At the same time, they both realized that Andre’s lifestyle was, in a way, almost flawless.
Lack of knowledge was no issue. His teacher was Radak, who was in charge of the branch academy’s Wizard Inheritance Hall.
As long as his Realm was high enough, he could read any book he wanted.
Lack of resources wasn’t a problem for Andre either. He was an Alchemist—a Master Alchemist, no less—and also a Caster.
Countless people would normally visit Andre, and clients commissioning custom Potions would deliver vast amounts of resources right into his hands.
And even then, they would still worry that Andre might refuse their requests for custom Potions.
Furthermore, Andre could craft the Witchcraft Artifacts that Wizards used daily himself—artifacts that might even be better than those he could find on adventures or buy.
Considering these three points, Andre’s life really didn’t need much fluctuation.
He could survive just by finding a place to open a shop.
In fact, his standard of living would be far more comfortable than that of at least eighty percent of all Wizards.
"Don’t you ever feel... feel..."
Karina looked at Andre, wanting to ask something more.
But just as she was about to ask, she found herself stuck, not knowing what to say.
Reading, concocting Potions, designing blueprints, crafting Witchcraft Artifacts.
These four activities took up virtually all of Andre’s time.
Faced with such a dull life, what else could she possibly ask?
"Now, I believe it’s a good thing your name appeared on the list for the First Expeditionary Corps."
At that moment, Red-haired Klein stopped what he was doing and looked at Andre seriously.
If Andre didn’t participate in the expedition, he would remain unknown in the academy indefinitely.
He would only reveal his true strength when he could no longer continue his research or when he encountered danger, becoming one of the brightest stars in the sky.
But it was more likely that he would just remain in obscurity forever.
If Andre participates in the Wizard expedition, he will be forced to face all sorts of challenges. And in order to meet those challenges effectively, he’ll have to do other things.
The more he does, the more active his mind will naturally become.
Once that happens, Andre is bound to attract the attention of others, which is exactly what Red-haired Klein wanted to see.
The path of the Chaos Truth Ladder that Andre walked was simply too important to the Wizard World.
The more attention Andre attracted, the more benefits he would gain in the future, and by extension, the more benefits Klein himself would receive.
As for whether someone might try to harm Andre and steal his path to Truth?
So far, no path watched over by the Wizard Civilization Will has ever been stolen.
’With Radak’s personality, how did he end up with a disciple like Andre?’
Red-haired Klein sighed internally as he recalled Radak’s past behavior at the academy.
Before his severe injury, Radak had been the most boisterous fellow in the academy, constantly causing trouble for him.
But ever since Radak was gravely injured and Klein sent him to Senbai Academy to recuperate, Radak’s personality had quieted down.
But that wasn’t Radak’s true nature. Once Radak fully recovered from his injuries, his personality would gradually revert to its former state.
Though he might become much more somber, his fundamental character would remain the same.
But Andre’s personality was the complete opposite of Radak’s, which made Red-haired Klein wonder why Radak had taken him as a disciple in the first place.
Then again, who could ever truly understand something like personality?
"Here. Sign the contract."
Red-haired Klein handed the Master-Servant Contract to Andre.
Andre looked at the Master-Servant Contract in his hands, a hint of doubt in his eyes.
’Will this Master-Servant Contract truly allow me to overcome the gap between our souls and help me form a contract with the Eight-toothed Giant Elephant?’
"Just sign it," Red-haired Klein said with resignation, naturally sensing the doubt in Andre’s eyes.
Only then did Andre bite his finger and let a drop of blood fall onto the Master-Servant Contract.
Next, the Eight-toothed Giant Elephant raised its trunk, lightly scraped its skin with an ivory tusk, and dripped its own blood onto the contract. A Golden Light then erupted from the Master-Servant Contract, and it vanished in an instant.
Immediately, Andre felt his soul connect with a colossal being.
