Wizard: Grinding to Lord of Truth
Chapter 192: Killing the Chicken to Get the Eggs
Chapter 192: Chapter 192: Killing the Chicken to Get the Eggs
"Grandmaster, I’m still too young. I don’t plan on making the Chaos Demon Pattern public for now."
After some thought, Andre looked directly at Red-haired Klein and spoke.
"I understand what you mean. You’re worried about being targeted."
Red-haired Klein voiced Andre’s thoughts aloud, and Andre immediately nodded.
"You don’t need to worry about that." Red-haired Klein then raised his left foot and stomped it heavily on the floor.
Instantly, a faint, silvery-white light enveloped the entire Central Control Room, sealing away everyone’s memories of the Chaos Demon Pattern.
The memories then transformed into small, silvery-white spheres that landed in Red-haired Klein’s hand.
Red-haired Klein gathered the spheres together and then crushed them with a sharp squeeze. The spheres shattered instantly.
The conversation he just had with Andre vanished in an instant.
Only a faint residue remained in the memories of Lake and Alice.
But within these remnants, only the single word ’Chaos’ remained. Nothing else.
"Until you become a Morning Star Wizard, all information about you will be strictly sealed."
Red-haired Klein said, looking at Andre. Andre nodded, but a sliver of worry remained.
’After all, Klein himself practices the Path of Time.’ Andre thought. ’If someone used Time Witchcraft to trace back through time, the secret of the Chaos Demon Pattern could still be exposed.’
"I will seal this period of time within my Ladder of Truth. Unless you reveal it yourself, no one—not even I—will be able to recover it."
Seeing the expression on Andre’s face, Red-haired Klein made him a promise.
Red-haired Klein then wove his hands together, and streaks of silvery-white light materialized between them.
As the silvery-white light emerged, the entire Central Control Room suddenly dimmed, as if something had been peeled away.
"By the Primordial Will of all Wizards, I swear to seal this information until my life’s end."
Once the Witchcraft Array in Red-haired Klein’s hands took form, a vast and majestic will awakened.
It traveled through the array, entering the Central Control Room of the War Mother Ship and enveloping Red-haired Klein.
"An oath like that... Grandmaster!"
Andre’s eyes widened as he stared at Red-haired Klein. He had never imagined Red-haired Klein would use Truth Witchcraft to directly commune with the Wizard’s Primordial Will, making an oath just to help him conceal the existence of the Chaos Demon Pattern.
Klein had only just advanced to the rank of Red Sun Great Wizard; the Power of Truth he commanded was still scarce.
And now, he had actually awakened the Wizard’s Primordial Will just to seal Andre’s secret.
Andre had never expected this.
"You are the heir to my lineage, so your interests are intrinsically tied to mine. We are bound by a common cause."
"Until we can maximize our gains, certain things must remain secret."
Red-haired Klein looked at Andre, a faint smile on his face.
Andre nodded. ’Sometimes,’ he thought, ’no bond is stronger than one of shared interest.’
"You two!" Red-haired Klein’s tone shifted as he turned his attention to Lake and Alice.
"Grandmaster," Lake and Alice said, shaking their heads. They sensed a gap in their memories but couldn’t pinpoint what was missing.
They realized in an instant that Red-haired Klein must have been the one to erase a part of their memories.
"What am I to do with you two?" Red-haired Klein sighed, looking at Lake and Alice.
Upon hearing Red-haired Klein’s words, both of their faces instantly flushed red.
"Your youngest junior brother has already begun to walk his own path, yet you two still do nothing but follow at your teacher’s heels."
"If this continues, when will you ever break free from your teacher’s paradigm and form your own understanding of the Truth?"
Red-haired Klein chided Lake and Alice.
His words made the two of them grow even more ashamed.
"Grandmaster, what are you talking about?"
Andre looked at Red-haired Klein, not quite understanding what he meant.
’Isn’t it perfectly normal for a disciple to follow their master?’
"These two are following their master’s path to the letter, without the slightest deviation. Whatever problems their master faced, they now face the exact same ones."
"Otherwise, I wouldn’t have brought them here to this Otherworld, hoping its environment would force them to forge their own paths."
Red-haired Klein glared at Lake and Alice, his face filled with anger.
"Ah!" Andre finally understood what Red-haired Klein was saying.
’Lake and Alice don’t want to do any of the work themselves!’
"If it weren’t for my guidance, helping them solve the very same problems their master faced one by one, they wouldn’t have been able to keep up."
"Otherwise, those two would still be stuck as Level 1 Wizards."
"They clearly have the Talent, yet they insist on taking this misguided path."
Red-haired Klein looked at Lake and Alice, his voice filled with regret.
Andre looked at Lake and Alice, at a loss for words.
’Don’t they know the saying, "Those who learn from me will live; those who imitate me will die"?’
’Identical Wizards do exist, but not like what Alice and Lake are doing.’
’In the Ancient Times, some Wizard Influences would gather Wizard Apprentices with poor Talent and use Potions to force them into becoming Official Wizards.’
’During this process, they would all learn the same type of Witchcraft and form a Wizard Legion. Then, a Witchcraft Array would be used to amplify the legion’s Power.’
’However, because training a Wizard Legion was a long and resource-intensive process, they quickly became a thing of the past, except for a few ancient factions.’
"Look at what Radak did. He gave him complete freedom. And the result? Andre forged a path of his own."
"And as for you two... *sigh*."
Red-haired Klein continued to berate Lake and Alice, his voice thick with frustration.
"These past few years, my attention has been focused on my own breakthrough. As a result, I’ve been far too lenient with your master, and with you."
Lake and Alice’s faces turned deathly pale. They knew their Grandmaster’s temperament all too well.
For their Grandmaster to say such a thing meant he was truly disappointed in their master, and in them.
"Lake, Alice, why would you do that?"
Andre looked at Lake and Alice, completely bewildered. He had read about many similar cases in books after joining the academy.
This path could grant them immense power in a short amount of time, but only at the cost of their future potential.
’To be accepted as disciples by one of their Grandmaster’s own students, their Talent couldn’t possibly be poor.’
’Yet they still chose to do this. It was undoubtedly like killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.’
’Worse, they were the goose, killing themselves just to get the egg.’
