Chapter 75: Chapter 73: The Death of Count Rock Lion

Count Rock Lion stood his ground, Fighting Qi Spear in hand, and watched helplessly as Roy walked toward him.

Compared to Catherine and the others, Count Rock Lion was faring much better.

He hadn’t knelt in fear, nor had the Fighting Qi Spear and Fighting Qi Armor he’d manifested dissipated. The Rock Lion Seed within him continued to steadily output Fighting Qi.

But that was to be expected.

After all, he was a Black Iron Great Knight.

If he had knelt on one knee like Catherine and the others, his title of Black Iron Great Knight would have seemed like a complete sham.

Soon, Roy, holding his Fighting Qi Destruction Sword, came to a stop before Count Rock Lion.

Before Roy could speak, Count Rock Lion blurted out, "Whatever Catherine is paying you, I’ll give you double—no, triple!"

"I’m a Bounty Hunter with professional ethics. I don’t do things like betray my employer."

"Here’s a piece of advice: it would be best for you to cooperate. You’ll spare yourself a great deal of unnecessary torture."

Roy said unhurriedly.

With that, he swung his Fighting Qi Destruction Sword.

Count Rock Lion didn’t hesitate, immediately raising his spear to block.

Although he had reinforced the Fighting Qi Spear as much as he could, it still failed to block Roy’s Fighting Qi Destruction Sword.

CRACK!

The Fighting Qi Spear in Count Rock Lion’s hands snapped in two.

After shattering the spear, the Fighting Qi Destruction Sword continued unabated, slicing across his body.

The Fighting Qi Destruction Sword easily tore through Count Rock Lion’s Fighting Qi Armor and metal plate, leaving a massive gash that ran from his right shoulder to his lower abdomen.

A single strike!

With just one strike, Roy had shattered Count Rock Lion’s dual layers of Defense and grievously wounded him.

The force of the blow sent the grievously wounded Count Rock Lion flying back a dozen meters, where he crashed wretchedly onto the square’s flagstones.

Roy didn’t immediately give chase. Instead, he turned to Catherine and said, "I’m leaving this to you. Anyone who dares to resist, kill them on the spot!"

Without waiting for Catherine’s reply, he dissipated his Fighting Qi Destruction Sword, then shot forward, arriving in front of Count Rock Lion in an instant.

He grabbed the Count by the shoulder and hauled him out of the castle.

Soon, he and Count Rock Lion had vanished from Catherine’s and the others’ sight.

Catherine was only a Peak Knight; on her own, she didn’t have the strength to crush all the other Knights in the square.

However, Roy wasn’t the least bit worried that Catherine would run into trouble.

The other Knights in the square had already been scared witless by his Dragon’s Battle Roar.

As long as Catherine didn’t try to slaughter them, they most likely wouldn’t interfere with her dealing with Nox and the others.

Roy had originally planned to take care of Nox and the others himself.

But on second thought, he decided to let Catherine do it herself.

If Catherine wanted to take control of the Clan Knights and family troops, it would be far more effective for her to eliminate Nox and his cohorts with her own hands.

In a way, it was a show of force.

If she dared to kill her own half-brother, then dealing with anyone else would be a trivial matter.

「The forest outside Rock Lion Castle.」

Roy tossed Count Rock Lion to the ground, retrieved the Memory Crystal Ball from Chaos Square, and said, "Let’s cut the pleasantries. This is a Memory Crystal Ball, a tool used by Wizards to record their knowledge. How did you know it was inside the stomach of the Mutated Four-armed Demon Ape?"

"I can tell you everything I know about the Wizards."

"But I have one condition."

Count Rock Lion replied quickly, glancing at the Memory Crystal Ball in Roy’s hand.

He knew he wasn’t going to survive.

But before he died, he wanted to secure one last sliver of hope for the Beluns Clan.

The chances were slim, but it was better to try than to do nothing at all.

If he tried, there might be a slim chance of success.

If he didn’t, there was no chance at all.

"You’re in no position to be making demands."

Roy returned the Memory Crystal Ball to Chaos Square and continued.

Count Rock Lion fell silent.

After a dozen seconds or so, he continued, "I know Catherine won’t spare Nox and the others. For her to take over the Beluns Clan, they have to die."

"I just want to know if Catherine will spare Laila and the others."

The ’Laila and the others’ to whom Count Rock Lion referred were his daughters and wives.

"Catherine hasn’t mentioned any of that to me, so I can’t be sure."

"However, given her personality, she probably won’t slaughter all of your daughters and wives."

"Of course, the mothers of Jeremy and Webb will most likely not survive."

Roy said slowly.

Hearing his answer, Count Rock Lion breathed a sigh of relief and began to speak. "A year ago, a traveling merchant from the Sal Empire came to Rock Lion Castle. He was selling various trinkets, some authentic, some fake."

"Among his wares was a fragment of a diary. It mentioned that the Mutated Four-armed Demon Ape was a Wizard’s Magic Pet."

"I don’t know who the diary belonged to."

"I didn’t really believe it at first, but when I saw that the script on the last page of the fragment appeared to be Ancient Byron Language, I knew things weren’t so simple."

"I took that diary page to the Royal Capital and had a linguist examine it. He confirmed that the script was indeed Ancient Byron Language, which is commonly used by Wizards."

"From the linguist’s translation, I learned that the Four-armed Demon Ape carried a legacy left behind by a Wizard known as the Magic Potion Prince."

"The diary didn’t specify what kind of legacy it was."

When he heard Count Rock Lion mention the name Magic Potion Prince, Roy knew the Count was telling the truth.

After a moment of thought, he asked Count Rock Lion, "What about the diary page written in Ancient Byron Language?"

"I burned it. I also killed the linguist."

Count Rock Lion replied instantly.

Roy’s brow furrowed. "Do you have any last words?" he asked slowly.

"Could you give a message to Catherine for me?"

Count Rock Lion looked at Roy, his expression serene.

"That depends on the message."

Roy replied.

"Tell Catherine that I was indeed the one who had Jeremy kill her mother. But I don’t regret my decision."

"Events have proven that my decision was the right one."

"If I hadn’t made Jeremy kill her mother, she would never have achieved what she has today."

"Her actions today have proven that she is more exceptional than Jeremy and Webb combined."

"For the sake of her revenge, she suppressed her hatred for fourteen years, playing the part of a harmless daughter and sister. Even her own family, who saw her day in and day out, never suspected a thing."

"She knows how to use external Power to achieve her goals, and when the time is right, she strikes decisively, without a hint of hesitation!"

"More importantly, at only twenty-two years old, she’s already a Peak Knight!"

"Patient, rational, decisive, cold-blooded, vengeful... and her Cultivation Talent is far beyond that of an ordinary person!"

"In her hands, the Beluns Clan will surely never fall into ruin!"

Having said his piece, Count Rock Lion broke into a joyful laugh.

Roy had thought Count Rock Lion was going to apologize to Catherine.

As it turned out, he had been overthinking things—or rather, he had overestimated Count Rock Lion’s moral compass.

Watching the Count laugh with satisfaction, Roy manifested a Fighting Qi Cross Sword.

Before piercing Count Rock Lion’s heart with the Fighting Qi Cross Sword, he said, "You seem to be forgetting one thing. After she takes over, she’s going to change the name from the Beluns Clan to the Olson Clan."

Hearing this, Count Rock Lion replied unhurriedly, "Even if she changes the name, it won’t change the fact that the blood of the Beluns Clan flows through her veins."

"Her descendants will carry the Beluns bloodline all the same!"

"Not unless she slaughters Laila and the others, and then dies without leaving any heirs of her own."

"Otherwise, the Beluns Clan will not be extinguished!"

Roy wasted no more words on Count Rock Lion. His Fighting Qi Cross Sword shot out like a bolt of Lightning, precisely piercing the man’s heart.
