Wizard: Grinding from Knight to Primogenitor
Chapter 62 - 60: Spiritual Warning, The King’s Death
Chapter 62: Chapter 60: Spiritual Warning, The King’s Death
Once the voices and footsteps outside his tent dwindled, Roy didn’t hesitate. With a single thought, he entered Chaos Square.
After stretching his limbs, he immediately began his cultivation of the Ghost Leopard Breathing Technique.
When he had first left the Ice Wolf Domain, his plan had been to cultivate the Mammoth Breathing Technique to the Tier Seven Limit as quickly as possible. Then, he would fuse the Mammoth Breathing Technique and the Iron Claw Bear Breathing Technique to advance to a Silver Great Knight.
But not long after leaving Ice Wind City, the main city of Green Province, he changed his mind.
The Skill Level of his Mammoth Breathing Technique was a bit higher than his Ghost Leopard Breathing Technique, but not by much.
After some casual deliberation, he temporarily set aside his cultivation of the Mammoth Breathing Technique and switched to the Ghost Leopard Breathing Technique instead.
’First, I’ll upgrade the Ice Wolf King Breathing Method to Tier Eight, and then I’ll upgrade the Iron Claw Bear Breathing Technique!’
Upgrading either Breathing Technique to Tier Eight would allow him to advance and become a Silver Great Knight.
The Ice Wolf King Breathing Method was an upgrade from the Ice Wolf Breathing Technique, which he had been cultivating from the very beginning. To him, it held more sentimental value than the Iron Claw Bear Breathing Technique.
Of course, this also had to do with his preference for wolves over bears.
Time ticked by.
Before he knew it, several hours had passed.
Just then, as Roy was cultivating the Ghost Leopard Breathing Technique, a series of scenes flashed through his mind like a slideshow.
’This is...’
Without any hesitation, he immediately stopped cultivating the Ghost Leopard Breathing Technique and focused his mind, trying to examine the scenes flashing through his head.
Although the images vanished quickly, he was able to make out the details thanks to his superhuman Spiritual Power.
A battered Tony, his armor stained red with blood, was down on one knee. He had plunged his equally bloody and heavily notched cross sword into the ground, struggling to keep himself from collapsing.
Ice Wolf Castle was being consumed by a raging inferno, and the corpses of castle soldiers littered the surrounding square.
Erin and Aili, along with the castle’s maids, were locked in a cage wagon in the castle square like slaves, their faces streaked with tears and filled with terror.
’A Spiritual Warning!’
’This is a warning from my own spirit!’
’Something terrible is about to happen at Ice Wolf Castle!’
Roy immediately understood why these scenes were flashing through his mind.
At the same time, he also figured out why this Spiritual Warning had manifested as rapidly flashing scenes, rather than just giving him a vague sense of unease like the last time.
The last time he had felt that unease, he had been in his bedroom in Ice Wolf Castle, not in Chaos Square.
This time, however, he was in Chaos Square.
Clearly, Chaos Square had enhanced his spirit, allowing it to provide a much clearer warning instead of a pure sense of unease.
Having figured out the reason, Roy, with a single thought, returned from Chaos Square to his tent.
After exiting his tent, he walked straight toward Baron Giant Monster’s tent.
Soon, he arrived in front of Baron Giant Monster’s tent and said, "Lord Charles, it’s Roy. I have urgent business with you."
Not long after he finished speaking, Baron Giant Monster, who had already removed his armor and was dressed only in his Hunter’s Clothing, pushed aside the tent flap and asked him, "What happened?"
"I have a premonition that something is wrong at Ice Wolf Castle. I need to return at once."
Roy said quickly.
’A premonition?’
Baron Giant Monster immediately frowned.
After a few seconds, he said slowly, "What did you foresee?"
"We are to enter the Tulip Domain tomorrow. If you leave now, you’ll be treated as a deserter."
"When that happens, it won’t just be you in trouble. Tony and Erin will be in trouble too."
For other nobles, being branded a deserter was indeed a very serious matter.
But for Roy, being branded a deserter by the Royal Family was hardly a serious matter; even being declared their mortal enemy wouldn’t be.
"I foresaw Tony grievously wounded and on the verge of death, Erin and the other women of the castle captured, and the entire Ice Wolf Castle engulfed in flames."
Roy had no intention of telling Baron Giant Monster that he possessed a spirit, merely describing the scenes from the Spiritual Warning.
Baron Giant Monster fell silent, a look of resignation on his face.
In his opinion, Roy’s so-called premonition was nothing more than an overly vivid nightmare.
It was common for those participating in a war for the first time to have all sorts of nightmares just before the fighting began.
When Baron Giant Monster had participated in his first war, he too had a nightmare that he and his Clan Knights all died in battle, leading to the fall of the entire Adams Clan.
However, he didn’t know that Roy hadn’t been sleeping at all, but had been in Chaos Square, cultivating a Breathing Technique.
Just as Baron Giant Monster was about to explain that this wasn’t a premonition, but simply an overly realistic nightmare, the sound of a horn calling for an emergency assembly echoed throughout the entire military camp.
The sudden blast of the horn immediately drew the attention of both Roy and Baron Giant Monster.
"Assemble first. We’ll discuss everything else later," Baron Giant Monster said quickly.
Without waiting for Roy to reply, he turned back into his tent and quickly began to don his armor.
Roy turned to look toward the center of the camp, his conviction that something was about to happen to Ice Wolf Castle growing even stronger.
Without a second thought, he immediately mobilized his Fighting Qi, and a white, flame-like aura instantly enveloped his entire body.
The next second, he pushed off powerfully with his legs and rushed toward the nearest camp gate.
He didn’t know why the horn for an emergency assembly had been sounded.
But he was sure of one thing: he had no interest in participating in this so-called emergency assembly.
Moving at full speed, he quickly left his section of the camp.
Unsurprisingly, his mad dash toward the gate, wreathed in Fighting Qi, quickly attracted the attention of others.
Just as the Royal Knights were preparing to intercept him, the same tremendous shout echoed from every section of the camp.
"William II is dead! The Royal Capital has fallen! The Laine Kingdom is on the brink of collapse!!!"
"William II is dead! The Royal Capital has fallen! The Laine Kingdom is on the brink of collapse!!!"
"William II is dead! The Royal Capital has fallen! The Laine Kingdom is on the brink of collapse..."
Although it was unclear who was shouting, they were obviously working together.
They weren’t just shouting the same phrase in every section of the camp; they were also using their Fighting Qi to amplify their voices, allowing the sound to travel much farther.
Furthermore, they had to be Peak Knights at a minimum.
Only after advancing to Peak Knight could one master such minor techniques for applying Fighting Qi.
Hearing their shouts, Roy immediately stopped in his tracks as a guess surfaced in his mind.
’These shouters... they’re men of the four Great Dukes.’
Their shouting in unison at this exact moment had to have been arranged by the four Great Dukes.
As for why the four Great Dukes would do such a thing, the reason was simple.
’To shatter the army’s morale!’
’To divide the Royal Army from the vassals’ forces!’
’To deny the Eldest Prince any chance to suppress the news and reorganize the vassal forces!’
And this also meant that the four Great Dukes had truly joined forces to breach the Royal Capital and assassinate King William II.
In other words, what was about to begin wasn’t the Second Tulip War, but a war for the four Great Dukes to join forces, carve up the Laine Kingdom, and establish the Four Great Dukedoms.
William II thought he had persuaded the four Great Dukes to retake the Tulip Domain and conquer Oak Province from the Kalin Kingdom, but that was not the case at all.
Or rather, the four Great Dukes had no interest in the Tulip Domain or Oak Province.
What they wanted were the domains of the Royal Family and its vassals!
