Old Jack Tavern.

After leaving the forest, Knight Robinson and his men rode here and took over the best table.

Unsurprisingly, this action displeased the other patrons.

However, after seeing the Rock Lion Family Emblem of the Beluns Clan carved into their armor, all the patrons suppressed their dissatisfaction.

The tavern owner, Old Jack, didn’t send a server over. He personally approached them, a respectful look on his face, and said, "My lords, what would you like to drink?"

"Bring us your best wine and food."

Matthew, the youngest of the group, said quickly.

"Of course, my lords. Right away."

Giving a slight bow, Old Jack didn’t dare to linger for a moment and immediately turned to leave.

After Old Jack left, Matthew asked Knight Robinson, "Big Brother, you must have a plan. What’s our next move?"

Knight Robinson didn’t answer Matthew right away, instead turning his head to scan their surroundings.

After warning the nearby patrons with a look not to eavesdrop, he spoke in a slow, deliberate voice, "Two months ago, word came from the Royal Capital that His Majesty plans to declare war on the Kalin Kingdom after the spring thaw next year to reclaim the Tulip Domain."

"Count Rock Lion confirmed it with the Ironblood Duke. The news is true. The Royal Family has reached an agreement with the other dukes. The second Tulip War will begin next spring."

"If we can reclaim the Tulip Domain, His Majesty will surely ennoble many new nobles."

"I plan to go to the Royal Capital and apply to join the Royal Family’s forces."

Knight Robinson no longer planned to pledge allegiance to another noble. Instead, he intended to gamble on the second Tulip War.

Although he wasn’t a Great Knight, his strength as a Peak Knight was enough for him to join the Royal Family’s army and secure a position as a low-level commander.

’Go to the Royal Capital?’

After Knight Robinson finished speaking, Matthew quickly said, "If you hadn’t personally taught us, Big Brother, and even shared the Inheritance Map for the Mad Bull Breathing Technique, we never would have become Official Knights."

"No matter where you go, Big Brother, we’ll stick with you through thick and thin."

As soon as Matthew finished, the other three knights immediately voiced their agreement.

"I knew I wasn’t wrong about you!"

Knight Robinson nodded, a gratified look on his face.

Then, he lowered his voice and continued, "However, before we go to the Royal Capital, we need to make a trip to Ice Wolf Castle."

’Ice Wolf Castle?’

Matthew and the other three looked confused.

They were already in the Ice Wolf Domain, but they couldn’t see any reason to visit Ice Wolf Castle.

Under the gazes of Matthew and the others, Knight Robinson continued, "I suspect the Mutated Four-armed Demon Ape never left the Ice Wolf Domain at all!"

"Not only that, I also suspect that Baron Ice Wolf, Tony Wesley, knows the Dark Night Knight."

"If I’m not mistaken, the Baron didn’t just hire the Dark Night Knight to assassinate Baron Red Eagle and Baron Giant Dog."

"He had already hired the Dark Night Knight to deal with the Mutated Four-armed Demon Ape before that."

When Knight Robinson finished, Matthew and the other three immediately frowned.

They also knew that Baron Red Eagle and Baron Giant Dog had long been plotting to carve up the Ice Wolf Domain together.

But in their eyes, Knight Robinson’s deduction was still a bit too arbitrary.

Baron Red Eagle and Baron Giant Dog were hardly model nobles.

There were at least eighty, if not a hundred, people who wanted them dead.

Not to mention, plenty of people in their own domains wanted to kill them.

After some thought, Matthew said slowly, "Even if all your suspicions are correct, Big Brother, none of that has anything to do with us anymore."

"We’re not working for Count Rock Lion anymore. There’s no need to get involved in this stuff."

Matthew had assumed Robinson wanted to go to Ice Wolf Castle to "borrow" some Gold Coins for their trip to the Royal Capital.

He didn’t expect Robinson to still be so fixated on the Mutated Four-armed Demon Ape and the Dark Night Knight.

"Of course I’m not going to keep working for Count Rock Lion. I want to go to Ice Wolf Castle to find out the whereabouts of the Mutated Four-armed Demon Ape."

"Or rather, I want to find out what secret it’s hiding."

"I followed Count Rock Lion for many years. I know what kind of man he is."

"If that Mutated Four-armed Demon Ape holds a secret that interests him, then that secret’s value must be no less than that of an Excellent Level Universal Breathing Technique."

"Even if I’m wrong, it doesn’t matter."

"Whether it’s traveling to the Royal Capital or living there, we’ll need Gold Coins."

"The Wesley Clan isn’t as extravagant as other families; they must have accumulated a fair amount of Gold Coins."

"Since they’re not using them, they might as well let us have them."

In the past, Knight Robinson would never have dreamed of robbing a noble from Yorkshire.

But now, he didn’t see any problem with it.

He was no longer working for Count Rock Lion, so of course, he didn’t need to consider the Count’s feelings.

After Knight Robinson finished, Jonathan, a High Tier Knight in his thirties with a scar on his left cheek and a lewd appearance, said with a smile:

"I hear the Baron Ice Wolf’s wife is a great beauty with an outstanding temperament and gorgeous looks."

Although Jonathan put it euphemistically, Robinson, Matthew, and the others immediately guessed his true intentions.

Jonathan was a lecherous High Tier Knight with low morals.

In the past, he had often used his strength and status to force attractive commoner women to become his lovers.

Turning to size up Jonathan, Matthew said casually, "If I recall correctly, there are only two Official Knights in Ice Wolf Castle right now."

"Since we’re doing this, we might as well be thorough. Let’s just kill the two brothers and everyone else in the castle."

Jonathan quickly patted Matthew’s shoulder, giving him a look that said, ’You’re the one who really gets me’.

Just as Matthew was about to say something more, Old Jack and a server arrived with the tavern’s best spirits and food.

After Old Jack and the server had set down the spirits and food, Matthew pulled out a few Silver Coins and tossed them onto the floor.

"The extra is for you."

Matthew looked at Old Jack and the server with an arrogant expression.

"Thank you, my lord!"

Although Matthew’s gesture was insulting, Old Jack immediately bowed in thanks.

He was just a commoner and couldn’t afford to offend Matthew and his group.

Never mind Matthew tossing the Silver Coins on the floor; even if he had thrown them in Old Jack’s face, he would have had no choice but to say thank you.

Old Jack quickly picked up the Silver Coins from the floor and left with the server.

Once they were gone, Knight Robinson said slowly, "Let’s eat first, then find a place to rest. We’ll head to Ice Wolf Castle after nightfall."

"Alright, we’ll do as you say, Big Brother!"

Matthew and the other three quickly replied.

For the next while, they enjoyed the spirits and food before them, chatting excitedly about the wonderful life that awaited them in the Royal Capital.

None of them knew that the decision they had just made had started the final countdown of their lives.
