Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Redeeming a Breathing Technique, One-Hit Kill
「Five days later.」
Rose Street, West District of Redwood City.
Clad in the Dark Night Knight Armor, Roy stood on a rooftop, observing a three-story house several dozen meters away.
Rose Street!
The house he was currently observing was the residence of Jeremy’s mistress.
"Are you sure Jeremy will really show up tonight?"
After observing for a moment, Roy turned and asked Catherine, who was beside him.
Just like the last time they met, Catherine was dressed in a suit of black light armor.
The only difference was that she was no longer wearing a fully enclosed helmet; instead, she wore a mask, just like Roy.
She had taken inspiration from Roy’s mask to create one that suited her own aesthetic.
"I’m sure!"
"He’s been cooped up in the castle for days, like he was under house arrest. He’ll definitely come tonight!"
Catherine replied swiftly.
"Since you’re so sure, we’ll wait a bit longer."
With that, Roy sat down on the rooftop.
After he sat, Catherine hesitated for a few seconds before sitting down beside him.
"The Breathing Technique you cultivate isn’t the Rock Lion Breathing Technique, is it?"
"Even though your Fighting Qi is pale yellow, the Rock Lion Breathing Technique is a Strength Type Breathing Technique, while the one you cultivate is a Speed Type."
Roy asked.
"That’s right. The one I cultivate is indeed not the Rock Lion Breathing Technique."
"As for which Breathing Technique it is specifically, I can’t tell you right now, because you aren’t an official member of the Second Son Brotherhood yet."
Catherine answered immediately, without any hesitation.
Hearing her answer, Roy furrowed his brow slightly.
Although Catherine didn’t reveal the name of the Breathing Technique, she did reveal a very important piece of information.
Namely, that the Breathing Technique she currently cultivated was obtained from the Second Son Brotherhood.
Combined with what she had previously said about Contribution Points, this meant the Breathing Technique she cultivated was exchanged for with Contribution Points.
After thinking for a moment, Roy continued to ask, "How many Contribution Points does it take to exchange for an Excellent Level Universal Breathing Technique?"
"Different Breathing Techniques require different amounts of Contribution Points."
"I can’t disclose the specific amount right now, but I can say it’s not a lot."
"After joining the Second Son Brotherhood, as long as you’re not too lazy, with your strength, you could save up enough Contribution Points to exchange for the Breathing Technique you want in half a year at most."
Catherine turned to look at Roy and replied instantly.
Although Roy still hadn’t agreed to join the Second Son Brotherhood, she was certain of one thing: Roy was growing more and more interested in it.
Or rather, he was growing more and more eager to obtain an Excellent Level Universal Breathing Technique.
It was normal for her to think this way.
Many Peak Knights joined the Second Son Brotherhood specifically for this internal benefit—the ability to exchange Contribution Points for Breathing Techniques.
Within the Second Son Brotherhood, there were not only Excellent Level Universal Breathing Techniques, but also Perfect Level ones.
Not only that, but the Secret Medicines required for the Breathing Techniques could also be exchanged for with Contribution Points.
"After we take care of Jeremy, let’s go for a drink at the Red Salmon and Cherry Pie tavern."
Roy said slowly.
Even though he already had the Iron Claw Bear Breathing Technique, he didn’t mind cultivating a few more Excellent Level Breathing Techniques.
The reason his strength far surpassed that of other Peak Knights was that he had cultivated more Breathing Techniques and possessed more Life Seeds.
If he had only cultivated the Ice Wolf Breathing Technique, his current strength would likely be on par with Catherine’s.
"Alright!"
Catherine understood the subtext in Roy’s words. A satisfied smile appeared on her fair, oval face beneath the mask, and she replied quickly.
Roy nodded and said no more, settling in to wait patiently.
Time trickled by.
Half an hour passed before they knew it.
Just as Roy was beginning to wonder if Jeremy would actually show up for his tryst tonight, three Knights appeared around the street corner. They were clad in armor, wore Cross Swords at their waists, and rode on Warhorses.
The moment he saw these three Knights, Roy knew his wait tonight had not been in vain.
These three Knights were none other than Jeremy and his guards.
CLIP-CLOP, CLIP-CLOP, CLIP-CLOP...
The sound of hooves striking the street was exceptionally clear in the silent night.
"Medel, on Jeremy’s right, is a Peak Knight. Kai Wan, on his left, is a High Tier Knight."
"I can help you hold off Medel!"
Catherine said quickly.
"No need!"
"You just sit here and enjoy the show!"
Without waiting for Catherine’s reply, Roy’s body was wreathed in a white, flame-like Fighting Qi as he leaped from the rooftop, executing a superhero-style landing.
At first, Jeremy and his two guards hadn’t noticed Roy and Catherine sitting on the roof.
It wasn’t until Roy landed on the street that they finally reacted.
’The Dark Night Knight!’
’How could he be here?’
Upon seeing Roy, all three wore expressions of astonishment.
"Young Master Jeremy, go! Sir Kai Wan and I will hold him off!"
Medel, a Peak Knight, immediately drew the Cross Sword from his waist and shouted to Jeremy.
"There’s no need!"
"He’s just one man. Medel, you’re a Peak Knight too. With me and Kai Wan added to the mix, he’s the one who should be running!"
Not only did Jeremy have no intention of fleeing, but he also drew his Cross Sword at once, dug his legs hard into his horse’s belly, and charged toward Roy.
Medel had served the Beluns Clan for over twenty years. He knew Jeremy was an arrogant and conceited young noble.
But he never imagined that upon seeing the Dark Night Knight, Jeremy’s first reaction would be to try and take him down.
Although they were all Peak Knights, there were still gaps in power between one Peak Knight and another.
He wasn’t as arrogant as Jeremy to think he could be a match for the Dark Night Knight.
Seeing Jeremy take the lead and charge at Roy, Medel didn’t hesitate. He leaped from his Warhorse, activated his Fighting Qi to its fullest, and rushed after him.
The Knight Kai Wan, at the side, froze for a second before also drawing his Cross Sword and charging.
Roy had originally prepared himself to take out Medel and Kai Wan first, then go after Jeremy.
As it turned out, he had overthought things.
Or rather, he had underestimated Jeremy’s arrogance!
Although things weren’t going as he’d expected, he didn’t dwell on it and immediately drew his ruby-encrusted Fine Steel Cross Sword.
The white, flame-like Fighting Qi instantly coiled around the blade of the Fine Steel Cross Sword.
’Fighting Qi Slash!’
Without any hesitation, Roy unleashed a Fighting Qi Slash at Jeremy.
A crescent-shaped wave of Fighting Qi, over a meter long, shot toward Jeremy with unstoppable momentum.
In the blink of an eye, the white Fighting Qi Slash was right in front of him.
Arrogant though he was, Jeremy was no idiot; he didn’t just sit on his horse and wait for death.
Just as the Fighting Qi Slash was about to hit him, he decisively abandoned his Warhorse and leaped from its back.
’Not good!’
Seeing Jeremy leap from his horse, Medel’s expression turned grim.
Under any other circumstances, jumping off a horse to dodge an attack would have been fine.
The problem was, their current enemy was the Dark Night Knight.
After Roy’s failed night infiltration of Rock Lion Castle, Medel had carefully examined the bodies of Kario Knight and the others, deducing the Dark Night Knight’s combat style from their wounds.
Fast, ruthless, and precise!
One-hit kills!
His attacks were clean and decisive, with no wasted movements!
In Medel’s eyes, by abandoning his horse to dodge the Fighting Qi Slash, Jeremy had just given the Dark Night Knight the perfect opportunity for a one-hit kill.
Because before he landed, Jeremy was a living target, unable to dodge a second time!
