Chapter 183: Chapter 131: Eagle’s Eye, Biological Modification Experiment

There was no contest. Tornado Slash sliced through the Great Knights with ease, ending their suffering.

After taking care of them, Roy unhurriedly walked toward the tomb in the center of the lake.

The tomb was situated in the center of the lake, but the water was no obstacle for him.

With a single, light leap, he crossed the water and landed precisely on the patch of land where the tomb stood, his gaze falling upon the headstone.

Will Davis!

There was no other information on the headstone, just a single name.

This was the true name of the Phoenix Knight.

In front of the headstone sat an exquisite metal box.

Without hesitation, Roy dismissed the Fighting Qi: Blade of Rebellion from his right hand and opened the box.

There were only two items inside the box.

A Breathing Technique Inheritance Map, rolled into a bundle.

And a Scroll.

Roy picked up the Breathing Technique Inheritance Map first and unrolled it.

A satisfied smile spread across his face when he saw the lifelike Phoenix depicted at the top of the Inheritance Map.

’The rumors were true!’

’The inheritance of the Phoenix Knight really is here.’

After stowing away the Inheritance Map for the Undead Bird Breathing Method, he picked up the Scroll and quickly skimmed its contents.

The beginning of the Scroll contained some of the Phoenix Knight’s concluding thoughts from the final moments of his Life.

For example, how he had never married or had children, nor found a suitable successor, but he didn’t regret it; the things he still wished he could have done; the most satisfying moments of his life, and so on.

Besides these reflections on his life, the Phoenix Knight also proposed a theory in the Scroll: that all Legendary Knights were concealing some very important information about the method to advance to the Legendary rank.

He didn’t know what, exactly, they were hiding.

However, he had left a single sentence at the very end of the Scroll.

"Perhaps the opportunity to advance to the Legendary rank was lost forever the moment I cultivated the Undead Bird Breathing Method to its absolute limit."

After reading the Scroll’s contents, Roy furrowed his brow slightly.

He didn’t understand why the Phoenix Knight would write such a sentence at the end of the Scroll.

However, he found himself agreeing with the Phoenix Knight’s theory.

’Before advancing to the Legendary rank, those Legendary Knights had perhaps fulfilled all the requirements for advancement by sheer luck.’

’But after successfully advancing, they would have surely analyzed their own experiences to summarize all the requirements to become Legendary.’

’Even if one or two Legendary Knights failed to do so, it’s impossible that all twelve of them wouldn’t.’

’The only logical explanation is that, despite being from different eras, they all made the same choice: not to publicize their findings, leaving behind only the requirement to create one’s own Legendary Breathing Technique.’

’On the surface, the chance that all twelve Legendary Knights would choose to hide the information seems low.’

’But in reality, as long as the first few Legendary Knights kept their findings to themselves, those who came later would naturally follow their example.’

’If there were hundreds or even thousands of Legendary Knights, perhaps one or a few with a truly selfless spirit might have emerged.’

’But with only twelve, the probability of such a person appearing is extremely low.’

’Never mind anyone else; I can just use myself as an example.’

’If I figured out all the requirements to advance to the Legendary rank, I wouldn’t make it public either. I’d only tell a few close and trusted people.’

’It might seem selfish, but that’s just human nature!’

Stowing the Scroll away, Roy wasted no more time. He pushed off with his legs, leaped back to the lakeshore, and said to Selena and Monica, "The Phoenix Knight left two items in front of his headstone: the Inheritance Map for the Undead Bird Breathing Method and a scroll with some of his reflections."

"As we agreed, the Inheritance Map for the Undead Bird Breathing Method is mine."

"As for this Scroll, you can have it if you’re interested."

With that, he took out the Scroll and offered it to Selena and Monica.

Seeing the Scroll he offered, Selena and Monica immediately exchanged a glance.

Then, Selena spoke slowly, "No, thank you. We didn’t help with anything, so both the Breathing Technique Inheritance Map and the Scroll are yours."

Regardless of whether the Scroll actually contained the Phoenix Knight’s reflections, Selena and Monica were not going to accept it.

It wasn’t that they weren’t curious, but they knew that Roy’s goodwill was more valuable than the Scroll.

Besides, even if Roy was lying and the Scroll actually contained Secret Techniques left behind by the Phoenix Knight, they wouldn’t have held much appeal for them anyway.

Things like Secret Techniques were rare and precious to commoners and ordinary nobles.

But the Evil Spirit Cat Clan was no ordinary family; it was a Silver Clan that had once produced a Golden Great Knight.

The Evil Spirit Cat Clan had a considerable collection of both Breathing Techniques and Secret Techniques.

"If you don’t want it, then fine."

"Our business here is finished. It’s time to leave," Roy put the Scroll away and continued.

"Right!"

Without hesitation, Selena immediately took the Guiding Crystal Ball from within her clothes.

Just as Roy was expecting her to activate the Guiding Crystal Ball and find the correct path out from among the cavern’s dozens of tunnels, she handed it to Monica instead.

’Has her Spiritual Power dropped so low that she can’t use the Guiding Crystal Ball for an extended period?’

The thought immediately surfaced in Roy’s mind upon seeing her action.

Noticing his gaze, Selena quickly explained, "Monica is a First-class Apprentice, just like me. She can use the Guiding Crystal Ball too."

Roy thought for a moment before asking, "Does the Evil Spirit Cat Clan plan to send you two to the Wizarding World in a year?"

"How did you know?"

Selena and Monica stared at him, their faces filled with surprise.

"Besides the fact that you’re heading to the Wizarding World, I can’t think of any other reason why you’d split your focus to cultivate a Meditation Technique..."

Here, Roy paused, then turned to Monica and said, "Give me the Guiding Crystal Ball."

Although she didn’t know what he intended to do, Monica still handed the Guiding Crystal Ball to him.

The moment he took the Crystal Ball, Roy wasted no time, immediately channeling his Spiritual Power and connecting it to the Guiding Crystal Ball.

The next moment, the Guiding Crystal Ball emitted a white light far more intense than before.

This...

Seeing this, all three of them—Roy included—wore surprised expressions.

Roy was surprised because he had assumed the Guiding Crystal Ball could only emit a soft, white light.

Selena and Monica were surprised because they never imagined that Roy not only knew how to use Spiritual Power, but that his was even greater than theirs.

The Guiding Crystal Ball was not a Demonized Item designed specifically to measure the strength of one’s Spiritual Power.

However, the more Spiritual Power one poured into it, the brighter the light it would emit.

If a Level One Wizard were to use it, just a small amount of Spiritual Power would be enough to make the Guiding Crystal Ball emit a dazzling light comparable to a Light Spell.

"You’re a Wizard Apprentice too?" Selena asked immediately.

"Yes," Roy replied.

"Then why didn’t you say anything before?" Selena pressed.

"You never asked," Roy shot back. "Why would I have mentioned it?"

"So what Level of Wizard Apprentice are you? Second Class?" Monica asked.

"I suppose I’m Second Class," Roy said slowly.

Although his Spiritual Power wasn’t much weaker than that of Thomas, a Third-class Apprentice, he still habitually held something back.

If the light from the Guiding Crystal Ball hadn’t been so much brighter than before, he wouldn’t have minded passing himself off as a First-class Apprentice.
