Chapter 153 - 124: Unexpected Gain, Carrot and Stick
Chapter 153: Chapter 124: Unexpected Gain, Carrot and Stick
With that out of the way, he began to take stock of the contents of the chests.
After about five or six minutes of sorting, Roy stood before one of the chests, a look of surprise on his face as he stared at its contents.
This chest didn’t contain the Gold Coins and jewelry he had expected. Instead, it was filled with several scrolls that looked ancient and a pile of books.
Without a second thought, he casually picked up a Scroll and unrolled it to have a look.
A Magic Scroll!
To be precise, it was a Magic Scroll for the Level Zero Spell, Dizziness Skill!
Upon realizing it was a Magic Scroll for Dizziness Skill, he immediately picked up the second Scroll and opened it.
Then the third, the fourth, and the fifth!
After looking through all the Scrolls, he couldn’t suppress a satisfied smile.
The five Scrolls in the chest were, without exception, all Magic Scrolls for Level Zero Spells.
Dizziness Skill, Light Spell, Acid Splash, Frost Ray, and Wizard’s Hand!
After calming himself, Roy set the Magic Scrolls aside and picked up a book thicker than a brick.
Basic Introduction to Ancient Bylun Language
He flipped through a few pages before setting it aside and moving on to the other books.
Wizard World Travelogue (Three), Basic Principles of Level Zero Magic, Common Extraordinary Creatures Atlas, Shadow Spirit Academy Freshman Handbook, Elemental Overview, Basic Application of Spiritual Power, Basic Transformation Science, Basic Energy Science, Witch Array General Theory...
After briefly looking through all the books from the chest, Roy nodded in satisfaction.
Although there was no Meditation Technique in the chest, this was still an absolute windfall for him.
These Magic Scrolls and Wizard Books didn’t belong to the Reilly Clan’s collection, but to the Royal Family’s.
Roy knew this because he had spotted the Royal Family’s insignia at the bottom of the chest.
If he wasn’t mistaken, the Laine Royal Family was also aware of the Wizarding World’s existence and had considered sending its own members there.
However, no one in the Royal Family with the requisite Wizard Talent had ever emerged.
More importantly, the Laine Royal Family had never managed to acquire a Meditation Technique.
In the hands of the Laine Royal Family or the Ironblood Duke, these Magic Scrolls and Wizard Books weren’t of much use.
But in his hands, they could definitely be put to their proper use.
Roy first placed all the Magic Scrolls and books back into the chest. Then, from the other chests, he took out the Beast Taming Skill Scroll he had copied earlier and the Memory Crystal Balls he had obtained from the Mutated Four-armed Demon Ape and Thomas.
After tossing everything into that one chest, he hoisted it onto his shoulder and carried it to another corner of the square, preparing to designate this section as his Learning Area.
Excluding the yet-to-be-established Learning Area, he had now divided Chaos Square into four main zones.
These were the storage zone for various items; the Alchemy Area for crafting and storing Potions; the Forging Area, which held his forging tools and materials; and the Cultivation Area at the center of the square.
After setting down the chest of Magic Scrolls and Wizard Books, Roy willed it, and with a thought, returned to the Ironblood Duke’s study.
Although the study already contained the desk, bookshelves, chairs, and other furniture he needed, he had no intention of using the Ironblood Duke’s old hand-me-downs.
He opened the study door and spoke to Matthew, who was standing just outside. "Is there any new furniture in the castle’s warehouse?"
What?
Matthew looked at Roy, confused.
Although he didn’t know what Roy was planning, Matthew didn’t press the issue. He simply asked, "My lord, what kind of new furniture are you looking for?"
"Just answer my question!"
Roy pressed.
’Does he want to redecorate the castle?’
Hearing Roy’s words, Matthew’s first thought was that he intended to redecorate Iron Blood Castle.
"There’s plenty of new furniture in the warehouse. I’ll take you there right away, my lord."
Matthew replied quickly, a fawning look on his face.
"That won’t be necessary. Just tell me where the warehouse is."
Roy said calmly.
Matthew didn’t ask any more questions and immediately told him the warehouse’s location.
Once he knew the location, Roy returned to the study and jumped straight out the window.
Without much effort, he found study furniture that suited his tastes in the warehouse and brought it all into Chaos Square.
The next moment, he returned to Chaos Square himself and began setting up the Learning Area.
Soon, he had arranged a fully open-plan Learning Area and was admiring his handiwork with a satisfied expression.
He wasted no more time, taking all the books, Magic Scrolls, and other items out of the chest and arranging them on the shelves.
He then returned to the storage zone to continue taking stock of the loot he had plundered from Iron Blood Castle’s treasury and secret chamber.
It took him well over half an hour, but he finally completed the inventory.
840,000 Gold Coins!
Jewelry and other valuables, worth an estimated 600,000 Gold Coins or more!
Excluding duplicates, there were a total of 16 Breathing Technique Inheritance Maps!
Among them were five for Universal Breathing Techniques, all of Excellent Level.
And eleven for Bloodline Breathing Techniques: seven of Excellent Level and four of Perfect Level.
Roy knew he would get a lot of loot after taking down the Ironblood Duke, but he had never expected this much.
What surprised him even more was that the Ironblood Duke’s collection actually contained Magic Scrolls and Wizard Books.
The Ironblood Duke had looted part of the Royal Family’s collection, and now he had looted the entire collections of both the Ironblood Duke and the Reilly Clan.
Talk about hitting the jackpot!
This was it!
Having finished inventorying his spoils, Roy walked straight to the newly furnished Learning Area, took the Magic Scroll for the Level Zero Spell, Wizard’s Hand, from the bookshelf, and began to study the Magic.
