Chapter 144: Chapter 121: Flaw, Wolf Tracking
Miranda’s expression immediately darkened.
Having Margery seduce Roy had indeed been her decision.
Just as Roy had said, she had used her maternal authority to coerce and pressure Margery into agreeing.
After Margery had successfully spent the night in Roy’s tent, she had thought the matter was in the bag.
However, she never could have imagined that this would, in fact, only cause Roy to loathe her more.
Although events had unfolded completely differently than she’d imagined, Miranda quickly regained her composure.
"No matter how much you may hate me, you can’t change the fact that I am Margery’s mother."
"You had fun with Margery last night, didn’t you? You took her virtue. What do you intend to—"
Before Miranda could finish, a sharp pain shot through her abdomen.
The next second, she flew backward uncontrollably for several meters and slammed hard onto the grass.
Seeing Roy send Miranda flying with a single kick, Brook froze on the spot.
He then jogged over to her, his face etched with concern as he checked on her.
Before Miranda could get up, Roy was standing over her. "This is your final warning," he continued. "Next time, you will die."
Miranda fought back the pain in her abdomen, her mind in utter chaos.
She couldn’t understand why things had suddenly turned out this way.
In her mind, a Roy who had accepted Margery should have been more than willing to side with them.
But reality proved she had been gravely mistaken.
Even if Roy were to help, he would only help Margery, not her.
It was no surprise that Miranda couldn’t understand why.
She had no understanding of the kind of person Roy was.
Furthermore, the cunning and experience she had honed from the political maneuvering in the Royal Palace were only suited for vying for favor within its walls.
Used anywhere else, they were completely out of their element.
Roy paid Miranda no mind, walking straight toward his Warhorse.
As he led his Warhorse to the riverbank, Margery emerged from her carriage, now dressed in golden Light Armor.
She hadn’t personally witnessed Roy kicking Miranda.
However, she knew Roy had struck Miranda.
After their second card game, Roy had asked her why she was doing this.
And so, she had told him everything.
The matter wasn’t complicated and could be summed up in a single concept.
An Otherworld version of favoring sons over daughters.
In the Eldest Prince’s eyes, Margery wasn’t his half-sister, but a valuable chess piece.
And to her own mother, Miranda, she was nothing more than a commodity to be sold to the highest bidder.
After last night’s attempt to win him over failed, Miranda didn’t know when to quit, instead forcing Margery to seduce Roy.
At first, Margery refused.
But when Miranda began playing mind games with her, she ultimately yielded.
Thus, the scene of her arriving at Roy’s tent in a form-fitting gown had played out.
After she finished explaining the whole story and saw Roy’s expression grow grim, Margery knew he had taken issue with Miranda.
The only thing she hadn’t predicted was that Roy would act so quickly to teach Miranda a lesson.
After stepping out of the carriage, Margery first went to Miranda and asked after her with concern.
However, Miranda saw her concern as nothing but an act.
After giving her a cold, assessing look, Miranda said nothing and walked straight back to the carriage.
Margery had never imagined that her own mother, Miranda, would look at her with such an icy gaze.
Watching Miranda’s retreating figure, her mind drifted to the stories Roy had told her last night after their card game.
Stories about women who sacrifice everything for their brothers, and about families that favor sons over daughters!
’He was right!’
’Not all parents truly love their children from the bottom of their hearts!’
Margery stood there for a moment with a bitter smile, then turned and walked toward Roy.
