Wizard: Grinding from Knight to Primogenitor
Chapter 142 - 121: Flaw, Wolf Tracking
Chapter 142: Chapter 121: Flaw, Wolf Tracking
The space inside the tent wasn’t very large.
It immediately felt crowded after Margery came in.
"Don’t blame me for not warning you. If you try to force things, you’ll only get hurt."
Roy said to Margery, who was sitting in front of him.
To be fair, Margery was indeed a beauty, with both a lovely face and a great figure.
Combined with the halo effect of her status as a Princess, her charm was no less than Catherine’s, easily inspiring a desire for conquest in others.
The problem was, Roy had no intention of playing that game right now.
As if she hadn’t heard Roy’s warning, Margery lifted her right hand and reached for the mask he wore.
Just as her right hand was about to touch the mask, Roy grabbed her wrist.
Just as he was about to use force to make her leave, Margery looked at him with a serious expression and said softly, "I know you’re Roy Wesley. Can I call you Roy?"
’How did she figure it out?’
’Is she just testing me?’
Several guesses flashed through Roy’s mind.
Although he was surprised, he didn’t show it. He calmly activated Golden Deer’s Ear, heightening his hearing to the point where he could clearly hear her heartbeat, and replied coolly, "You’ve guessed wrong. I’m not Roy Wesley."
With that, he let go of Margery’s wrist.
"No, I haven’t guessed wrong. You are Roy Wesley."
Margery retracted her right hand, her gaze on Roy incredibly firm.
"I am not!"
Roy continued to deny it.
"You don’t have to deny it."
"Although I don’t know how you managed to reach the rank of Bronze Great Knight through Cultivation at such a young age, I am one hundred percent certain that you are Roy Wesley."
Margery sat on the floor before Roy, her legs tucked out to her sides. Her large, light blue eyes were fixed on him as she spoke quickly.
At first, Roy thought Margery was just testing him.
Now, he could confirm that she wasn’t testing him; she had truly recognized him.
After activating Golden Deer’s Ear, he could hear her heartbeat very clearly, and from it, he could tell she was speaking the truth.
’But how?’
’I’ve never taken off my mask in front of her. I even eat by myself somewhere else!’
’How can she be so certain?’
’What gave me away?’
Roy’s mind raced.
If Margery could see through it, then others could too.
For him, this meant his disguise had always had a flaw.
After a few seconds of silence, Roy continued in a calm tone, "Why would you think I’m Roy Wesley? Is it because our builds are similar? Or is it because our personalities and attitudes are alike?"
Margery shook her head and said slowly, "Take off your mask, and I’ll tell you where you left a flaw in your disguise."
"No matter how you put it, you just want me to take off my mask."
"I will not take off my mask, and I am not Roy Wesley."
"Since you’re unwilling to say, you can leave."
"Also, here’s a piece of advice: stop going after my student. He already has a fiancée. Two of them, in fact."
Roy said quickly, without any hesitation.
Although he was desperate to know how Margery had seen through his disguise, he would absolutely not take off his mask before she revealed her reason.
Because as long as he didn’t take it off, Margery couldn’t be truly certain.
Upon hearing Roy’s reply, it was Margery’s turn to fall silent.
After more than ten seconds, she spoke. "Scent! You forgot to disguise your scent!"
’Scent?’
Roy looked at Margery, his expression one of complete surprise.
He knew that everyone had a slightly different scent.
Diet, living environment, physical condition, internal metabolism, hormones, cellular decomposition byproducts, perspiration, and so on—all these things created subtle differences in a person’s body odor.
Although a scent’s uniqueness isn’t as absolute as a fingerprint or an iris, it’s still distinct enough to differentiate between individuals.
However, he never expected someone would recognize him as the Dark Night Knight because of his scent.
Human olfaction simply wasn’t powerful enough to distinguish such subtle differences.
"Are you joking with me?"
"Your nose is quite lovely, but I don’t believe your sense of smell could be that sensitive."
Roy said slowly.
Although he now knew how Margery had identified him, there was still something he couldn’t figure out: why did she possess an Extraordinary Olfaction that far surpassed a normal human’s?
’She’s a human, not a dog!’
At the same time, a rumor about Margery flashed through his mind.
It was said that Margery was called the Rose Knight not only because she was stunningly beautiful, but also because she could smell the subtle differences in the fragrance of every single rose, allowing her to distinguish them with perfect accuracy.
Roy had heard this rumor long ago, but he had never paid it any mind.
The rumor had always struck him as being as unreliable as the fairy tale about the true princess who couldn’t sleep a wink because of a single pea placed beneath twenty mattresses and twenty eider-down beds.
No matter how delicate human skin was, it couldn’t possibly be *that* sensitive.
"I can tell you how I smell it, but only after you take off your mask,"
Margery said slowly.
Roy sighed in resignation, raised his right hand, and took off the white mask with red stripes.
