Chapter 1555: Chapter 1555: Lost My Appetite

As he said this, his gaze gradually lowered, then purposefully landed on her chest.

Being stared at like that, Scarlett felt like she was already stripped of her clothes.

At first, she was taken aback, her expression stiffened immediately, and she crossed her arms over her chest defensively: "Maxwell Saxon, you’re shameless, you despicable scoundrel, I will never marry you."

He laughed coldly: "Really? So you’re prepared to watch the man you love become paralyzed and turn into a blind and deaf person?"

Scarlett’s face went pale, she bit her lip tightly, her body involuntarily beginning to tremble.

Maxwell shook his head, sighed again, and walked up to her, slowly squatting down.

He squatted at a height level to look her in the eyes, his gaze calm with a touch of affection and pity: "Scarlett, as long as you listen to me, I promise Matthew Saxon will be fine. You know, I’ve lived in the Saxon Family for so many years, it’s not like I have no feelings for him. Even with a dog, if you spend enough time together, feelings develop, wouldn’t you agree?"

"If I weren’t forced, I wouldn’t have pushed myself onto this path. I never actually planned to take anyone’s life; they are still considered my relatives, I’m not as cruel and heartless as you might think."

"See, I’ve made the conditions clear. As long as you agree, both Dad and he will be okay. Trading you for the both of them, it’s a deal where you’re not losing."

He spoke these shameless words with a calm demeanor, his tone flat, his expression indifferent, as if everything was so reasonable.

Scarlett stared at him for a long time, trying to find a hint of regret, guilt, or any reluctance on his face, but she quickly realized that doing so was completely wasting her time.

Maxwell is utterly heartless.

A person without compassion or heart, how could she expect him to possess any conscience?

He smiled gently, extending a hand to her: "You can take your time to think about it. We still have less than two days. Come, let me help you up, dinner is just about ready. The chef we’ve hired here once worked as a royal chef in the palace; many of these exclusive, secret court dishes aren’t available outside."

Scarlett glared at him fiercely: "Do you think I have any appetite for food right now?"

He smiled even more gently: "Of course, you haven’t had dinner yet. You must be very hungry now."

She stared at him for a while, then suddenly laughed: "You’re right, I’m a bit hungry, but looking at your face—even if it’s royal recipes crafted by court chefs—or any gourmet cuisine, I have no appetite."

As if feeling the previous words weren’t enough to vent her anger, she added with a cold smile: "Maxwell, seeing your face makes me lose my appetite. You want me to eat properly? Either send me away or find somewhere to hide yourself. As long as I can’t see you, my appetite will naturally return."

Maxwell’s outstretched hand froze, and his smile seemed to freeze too, first turning rigid before gradually fading from his face.

His expression darkened, and he pressed his lips tightly, the anger flickering beneath his gaze.

"Scarlett, aggravating me won’t do you any good."

"But it seems I’ve just aggravated you. What do you plan to do with me?" She lifted her chin higher, arching an eyebrow provocatively, demonstrating an indifferent attitude.
