Chapter 539: Chapter 346: The Sealed Soul Beast

"Don’t tell me... is this where the legendary Soul Beast, Vilornox, is sealed?"

Lin Ke stared at the pitch-black entrance and subconsciously gulped.

"We’ll find out once we go inside."

Han Ning called to the Soul Beasts by his side, preparing to descend.

Suddenly, an unseen force tugged at the vertically growing, dark-green seaweed, causing it to sway with the undercurrent.

Just then, a voice, completely devoid of emotion, echoed in his mind:

"Come in, young Beast Master."

"What was that voice?!"

Startled by the voice that had suddenly appeared in his mind, Han Ning instinctively glanced around.

Pairs of long, narrow, bright-yellow eyes, like lanterns lit in the dark, emerged from the ship’s cabin ahead.

Han Ning sucked in a sharp breath and froze, halting his descent.

"Ling!" "CHIRP! CHIRP!"

Yin Yi and Egg Pancake instantly moved to stand in front of him.

"Messenger of the True Dragon, there is no need to be alarmed."

As the mysterious voice faded, a pair of huge, bright-yellow eyes emerged from the dense cluster of smaller ones. Each eye alone was longer than Han Ning was tall. They were followed by an enormous, ape-like head, easily the size of a two-story building...

The thick fur on its head was creamy white, and its eyes were the color of brass. It showed no sign of the ferocity one might expect; instead, its gaze was like that of an elder, full of wisdom.

’S Level... Wuzhiqi... So it really is a creature of myth and legend!’

Han Ning was astounded. He tried to peer deeper inside but found that even with his Spiritual Power, he couldn’t make out what was within.

All his naked eye could see were the countless pairs of shimmering eyes.

Before this giant ape, he seemed as insignificant as an ant.

The owners of the eyes floating around the giant ape also emerged, following its lead.

They were small white apes, each about the size of Han Ning himself, as well as even smaller baby apes.

Han Ning took a quick scan—there had to be at least a hundred of them.

But aside from Wuzhiqi, the largest of them, there were no other giant apes.

"Hello. Excuse me, are you the one who was speaking to me?"

Han Ning asked tentatively.

"It was I."

Wuzhiqi shifted its massive body, thrusting its face, as large as a house, right in front of Han Ning.

Sensing that the mythical creature before him held no hostility, Han Ning composed himself and continued,

"Why do you call me the True Dragon’s messenger?"

"I smell the scent of the Venerable Ying Long on you."

An aqua-blue light glowed in front of Wuzhiqi, coalescing into a clear figure. It had wings on its back and a scaled body with a spiny ridge. Its head was large and long, with a pointed snout, small nose, eyes, and ears, but large eye sockets and a high brow ridge. It possessed sharp teeth, a protruding forehead, a slender neck, a large belly, a long, pointed tail, and powerful limbs.

’So it smelled the scent of the True Dragon on me... Does that mean the True Dragon I met was the legendary Ying Long?!’

Han Ning recalled his encounter with that True Dragon.

The creature had only revealed a pair of unfathomably mysterious eyes, so he had no idea what Ying Long actually looked like.

’Then again, even though Wuzhiqi and its descendants are right here, how am I supposed to recruit it...?’

Wuzhiqi, across from him, seemed to have read Han Ning’s mind. It said:

"Before you arrived, Ying Long sent me a revelation. It told me that when the term of my seal is complete, a messenger of his would arrive to guide me and my children into a new world."

Wuzhiqi regarded Han Ning with a gentle gaze. "That messenger, I presume, is you."

"Then how can I help you?" Han Ning asked sincerely.

"Although you are the messenger sent by the True Dragon, this concerns the future of my Water Ape Race. Please allow me to conduct a small test."

Wuzhiqi looked directly at Han Ning with its long, narrow eyes.

"If you pass, you will earn the friendship of my race as your reward. Should you ever face an enemy you cannot defeat, we will help you with all our might."

’If I can gain Wuzhiqi’s friendship... won’t that give me a greater advantage against the Alatake Clan in the future?’

Han Ning quickly composed himself and asked seriously, "I have one question. You’re so powerful, why don’t you lead your clan to the new world yourself?"

Wuzhiqi sighed softly. "I have lived for over a hundred thousand years and have long grown weary of all worldly things. My only remaining attachment is to them. Furthermore..."

It glanced down at the dark seabed.

"My Power is fading, and my life is nearing its end..."

Even the longest of lives has a limit. Still, Han Ning was deeply shaken to hear that Wuzhiqi had lived for over a hundred thousand years.

But he still had his doubts. ’Wuzhiqi said its life was nearing its end, but that was from its own perspective.’

’From a normal human’s perspective, it could probably still live for a very long time—more than long enough to lead its children to a new world and find a safe haven.’

’But since it wasn’t leaving, there had to be some reason it couldn’t speak of. He decided not to press the issue.’

"I have no other questions. When does the test begin?"

Wuzhiqi looked at the shifting space of Nothingness around Han Ning and said, "You are blessed by the True Dragon Power, so I cannot project my Spiritual Power into your mind. I must trouble you to accept it willingly."

After speaking, its massive body flashed with a faint blue light, and a spherical orb of light materialized, hovering between the two of them.

"Reach out and touch it."

"Alright."

Han Ning took a deep breath and reached out to touch the orb of light.

The next second, an icy sensation shot up from his palm and into his mind.
