Why My Domineering Prince Regretted Filing for Divorce?
Chapter 1310 - 986: Growing Teeth!
That afternoon, Shang Ruyi spent a long time playing with Yuan Qian, and in the evening, she let him sleep with her.
She was already weary these days, not getting much sleep, and people worried that Yuan Qian would keep her awake at night. Shang Ruyi wasn’t concerned, but sure enough, in the middle of the night, she was woken up by the baby’s loud cries. Nanny Feng and the others quickly came to hold and feed the child, while Tushere looked at her swollen red eyes and exhausted appearance after being woken up, feeling terribly distressed.
Tushere said, "Let me take the Young Master away."
Shang Ruyi shook her head, refusing, looking tenderly at the milk-scented child.
After sleeping till the next day, to let her sleep a little longer, Tushere and the others didn’t rush in to disturb her. It was not until daylight that Shang Ruyi was awakened by the child wriggling and murmuring in her arms. She opened her eyes to see Little Yuan Qian looking at her with big, bright eyes. His already thin clothes were disheveled by his playing, and he even grabbed a strand of her hair and put it into his mouth, chewing just twice before spitting it out, making a ’puff’ sound.
Shang Ruyi immediately laughed at his antics.
Hearing his mother’s laughter, Little Yuan Qian seemed affected too, giggling at her. With his laugh, Shang Ruyi immediately noticed something.
"Oh?"
Hearing her voice, the people outside rushed in, and Tushere said, "The Princess is awake."
Shang Ruyi sat up from the bed, picked up the child, and placed him on her lap, examining him carefully for a while before beckoning them, "Come, quickly take a look!"
The group thought something had happened to Little Yuan Qian again and gathered around nervously. Shang Ruyi gently pinched the child’s small chin and slightly opened his mouth, revealing a tiny, white, grain-sized thing emerging on his red gums.
Nanny Feng exclaimed with joy, "Oh my, he’s teething!"
Tushere and others widened their eyes in surprise, looking at the salivated tiny tooth, curiously saying, "Is a baby’s tooth like this?"
"It’s so small."
"In a few days, it will grow bigger."
"How fascinating."
Little Yuan Qian, uncomfortable with his chin being pinched, shook his head, and then suddenly toppled from Shang Ruyi’s lap onto the bed, making him cry loudly. Everyone was both distressed and amused, hurriedly helping him up. Shang Ruyi laughed, saying, "I didn’t expect him to start teething, it looks so amusing."
Nanny Feng laughed and said, "The Princess might not know, but there’s a saying in my hometown, ’Seven sits, eight crawls, nine teeth.’"
Everyone looked at her, asking, "What does that mean?"
Nanny Feng, comforting the pouting, about-to-cry Little Yuan Qian in her arms, explained, "It means that most children can sit up by themselves at seven months, crawl around by eight months, and will grow teeth when they are nine months old."
Shang Ruyi smiled, "He really is, in just a few days, he’ll be nine months old."
Nanny Feng laughed, "The Young Master sits and crawls earlier than most children, and his teeth came in early too. He truly is the dragon’s child and grandchild."
Hearing this, Shang Ruyi’s eyes flickered slightly but she said nothing, just letting them take the child down, and she got up to wash up as well.
She hadn’t slept well the night before, and though Tushere pleaded with her to sleep more during the day to recover, Shang Ruyi didn’t listen and continued to keep Yuan Qian by her side to play. After the child began teething, he was particularly itchy and would put anything into his mouth, ready to nibble at anything. Shang Ruyi rescued her books, pens, clothes, and even a sock from his mouth.
When Yuan Qian couldn’t eat what was beside his mouth, he often pouted and was about to cry, but being so young, his attention was quickly captured by other things.
Shang Ruyi used a handkerchief to wipe the saliva off the pen shaft, sighing, "You all must keep a close eye on this little one, he dares put anything in his mouth."
Nanny Feng laughed, "I understand."
Shang Ruyi also instructed Tushere and Chang Wan, "You both must also be vigilant."
Both immediately said, "Yes."
Though they obediently agreed, Tushere felt something was a bit strange. While doing her tasks, she couldn’t help but find Chang Wan to whisper, "Why is the Princess acting a bit odd today?"
Chang Wan looked at her, smiling, "Why is that?"
Tushere thought for a moment, and said, "These things are usually mentioned first by Nanny Feng to remind us, and the Princess listens; but today, it’s the Princess reminding us."
Chang Wan laughed, "What’s wrong with that? The Princess is the mother of the Young Master."
That was the natural logic, yet Tushere blinked, feeling something was still amiss but unable to pinpoint it, so she let it go. Watching her muttering and shaking her head, Chang Wan’s eyes squinted in amusement.
The next day, Shang Ruyi still didn’t go out, remaining in Qianqiu Palace to play with Yuan Qian.
However, she sent Chang Wan to the Ministry of Justice to visit Sun Xianyue again.
Though it hadn’t been long since her last visit, the people at the Ministry of Justice still politely let her in. Chang Wan felt heartbroken seeing the once bright and clear Sun Xianyue huddled in the damp, cold, and pitch-black prison cell. When she called to him, her voice was a bit hoarse, "Young Master."
"..."
Sun Xianyue sluggishly raised his head, his dark eyes appearing as if soaked in ink.
Only when he saw that the visitor was Chang Wan did he slightly move, speaking with a voice so hoarse it was almost just breath, "Chang, Chang Wan, you’re here..."
Chang Wan nodded, taking a good look at him once more.
Although curled up in the corner of the cell, one of Sun Xianyue’s legs lay in a very awkward position. The wound that was bandaged a few days ago now looked a bit blackened, but fortunately, there were no new injuries, indicating he hadn’t been tortured again.
Chang Wan sighed in relief, handed him a package of snacks and medicinal salve she’d brought, and said, "I heard that the Young Master is from Xuanzhou, so I specifically bought some crisp sugar on the way, hoping you won’t despise it, as a taste of home."
At her words, Sun Xianyue slowly lifted his head, his once dull eyes finally flashing with a bit of light, looking deeply at Chang Wan.
After a long while, he said, "Thank you, Miss."
Then he reached out and took the bundle offered by Chang Wan.
Seeing his haggard and forlorn appearance, Chang Wan sighed and softly said, "Please set your mind at ease for now, the Princess has said she’ll find a way to get you out."
Sun Xianyue softly replied, "Thank the Princess for her concern."
Chang Wan comforted him gently a couple more times before the prison guard came in to urge her to leave, so she stood up to say goodbye and left. After she’d gone, Sun Xianyue looked at the beautifully packaged crisp sugar box for a while before raising his head again, only to catch a glimpse of a flicker of goose-yellow skirt hem disappearing at the end of the corridor.
