Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?
Chapter 282 - 206: Getting a Girl This Fast?
’Have my methods for chasing girls been wrong all along? Should I have gone to Korea and gotten plastic surgery to look like Hua Zai?’ He was plunged into deep self-doubt.
Yang Hui was just handling the paperwork today, not picking up the car. His company would send someone tomorrow to get the license plates and drive it back. Since he had a parent-teacher conference in the afternoon, he couldn’t stay long. Huang Lingyu walked him to the door and said, "If some idiot tries to harass you, just ignore him. Even if he files a complaint, it’s no big deal. If you quit this job, I can still make sure you’re well taken care of."
Taken care of? Huang Lingyu’s face flushed red. She thought he was talking about being her sugar daddy. She never dared to dream of being his official girlfriend. After all, they had met at a business KTV, so there was bound to be some reservation in his heart—at least, that’s what she thought. She felt she wasn’t good enough for him.
"I’m heading out. Come give me a hug. That fool is staring right at us."
Xiaoli happened to be passing by. "President Yang, you’re here! I heard you came to support your girlfriend by buying a car today."
Yang Hui had a good impression of her and nodded with a smile. "All taken care of. Thanks for looking after Lingyu usually."
After the greeting, Xiaoli moved aside. A couple was together; they didn’t need a third wheel. She knew how to read the room.
Huang Lingyu stepped forward lightly and gave Yang Hui a hug. As he held Huang Lingyu’s soft body, his eyes were fixed in Song Shixin’s direction. He saw the man staring at them as if he’d seen a ghost.
Yang Hui grinned wickedly and planted a kiss on Huang Lingyu’s cheek. He watched as Song Shixin, distracted, bumped into a display sign nearby and hopped up and down, clutching his knee. "OW, OW! That hurts like hell!"
When Huang Lingyu returned, the blush on her face hadn’t completely faded. Song Shixin was being helped to a seat by another sales consultant. He had just seen Yang Hui kissing Huang Lingyu and was completely dumbfounded. He had been pestering this beautiful consultant for a while and knew she was a tough nut to crack. How did that guy get his arms around her and kiss her so quickly and easily? It defied all logic! If Huang Lingyu hadn’t come back just then and said to him politely, "Sir, regarding your group purchase, I still recommend you go to the corporate accounts department,"...
...he would have thought she’d been drugged. He even wanted to go ask Yang Hui for his secret. What kind of drug was it? It was way too effective.
"Hey beautiful, about what I mentioned earlier..." He perked up again, thinking, ’So, it’s not impossible to break through her defenses, I just used the wrong method.’
Huang Lingyu replied in a polite but distant tone, creating a clear boundary. "Sir, I have a boyfriend."
Song Shixin understood her meaning—it was a rejection. But he couldn’t help but ask, "Then... that guy just now?"
"That’s right. He’s the boyfriend I was talking about."
Damn it! Song Shixin’s eyes went wide. He had completely misunderstood Huang Lingyu. He thought Yang Hui had won her over in a matter of minutes and that they had just now become a couple.
’So the last one to act strikes first. The latecomer has the advantage. He who comes last, comes out on top. That bastard was eavesdropping the whole time, learning from my failures! I can’t believe he struck so precisely, so ruthlessly.’
A guy like Song Shixin, seeing he had no chance with Huang Lingyu, would naturally not give her the order. He still needed to use it to scout for new targets. Huang Lingyu said a brief farewell and walked away. She hadn’t held out much hope for this sale in the first place.
-----------------
Yang Hui drove to Qingzhou First High School and parked outside the campus. Civilian vehicles weren’t allowed inside.
It wasn’t time yet, so he sat in his car to wait. Parents could only enter after the students were dismissed.
The feeling was novel. Picking up a child from school, attending a parent-teacher conference... was this something a young man not yet 25 years old should be doing? And for a middle schooler, no less.
From his car, he could see that many parents had already gathered at the school gate. Some were on electric scooters, others on foot, but there was no shortage of luxury cars—Land Rovers, Mercedes-Maybach S-Classes. First High was the best middle school in Qingzhou, and many of its students came from extremely wealthy families.
He sat in the car and composed messages to a few people. Shen Meng had gotten back late last night. At the time, he and Liu Shasha had been in a hotel, exploring all sorts of positions, so he hadn’t seen her. He sent a message to check in and learned she was at the company, discussing products with two livestreamers for a broadcast. He decided not to disturb her work further.
Next was Wang Qing. He reconfirmed their meeting. They agreed to meet tomorrow at 10 AM, and Yang Hui would go directly to the Yida Department Store headquarters to find him.
After sending a few messages, he remembered that Brother Chun was supposed to return to Qingzhou this week, so he sent him a text as well. He found out he’d be back over the weekend, and they agreed to get together then.
Thinking of the San Yang Xinyue Square project, he figured the cooperation agreement could probably be signed this week, so he proactively sent a message to President Zhang.
President Zhang had been in meetings since the morning. It wasn’t just him; the managers of the investment and operations departments were also there for the entire duration. Aside from a quick bite to eat during a break at noon, they hadn’t had a moment to even think about touching their computers.
Upon receiving Yang Hui’s message, President Zhang, dragging his exhausted body, had just sunk into his executive chair. This matter had been on his mind, too. The OA approval form submitted last weekend had already reached the regional general manager and the grand-zone general manager. What was strange was that even after a grand-zone functional department head had added a comment of "Disapproved, terms are too low," these two top leaders had approved it without a second thought.
In all his years, President Zhang had never seen such a bizarre situation. Logically, the higher up a leader was, the more they cherished their reputation. This incident made his keen senses tingle; there was something more to this than met the eye.
He turned on his computer, logged into the Xinyue Group’s OA system, and clicked open the approval form. After checking the approval progress, a single word escaped his lips: "Fuck!"
