Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?

Chapter 275 - 204: Liu Shasha’s Special Skill 2

That morning, Jia Ru pulled Shen Meng into a room to ask her all about Yang Hui.

When she learned that Yang Hui’s family was also from a small mountain village in Qingjiang Province and that his parents were farmers, she breathed a long sigh of relief. She hadn’t wanted her daughter to find some second-generation rich kid. Their upbringings were too different, and their values would inevitably clash. Things might be fine while they were dating, but living together in the future would reveal all sorts of conflicting habits. From that perspective, the old saying about partners needing to be well-matched really had some truth to it.

But then a question occurred to Jia Ru. "Meng Meng, if Yang Hui’s family are all farmers, and he’s still buying you a car... he isn’t just stretching himself thin to keep up appearances, is he? If you spend everything now, you’ll have nothing to live on later. What do you need a car for?"

Shen Meng hummed in agreement. "I told him not to buy it, but he insisted. Don’t worry, though. He’s not stretching himself thin. The company I work for now? He’s the one who started it, and business is booming."

At this explanation, Jia Ru’s eyes lit up. ’A self-made man! My own daughter, building a business with him from the ground up! This is great, just great! It’s absolutely perfect!’

Just then, Jia Lian and Wu Min came in from outside. "It’s about that time," Jia Lian called out. "We should head back and get ourselves sorted out. Tomorrow’s a workday."

Jia Ru stood up. "Alright, alright. Shen Meng, drive carefully this afternoon."

Seeing the irrepressible smile on her aunt’s face, Wu Min couldn’t help but ask, "Auntie, what are you so happy about?"

Her words made Jia Lian take notice. She realized her sister’s expression was indeed unusual—happier than someone who’d just won the lottery. She couldn’t help but ask, "That’s right, what’s the good news? Share it so we can all be happy with you."

"Yeah, happiness is better when shared," Wu Min chimed in from the side.

As she walked out of the room with them, Jia Ru said happily, "We were just talking about how Yang Hui is a self-made man, building his business with our Meng Meng. I feel so much better now that she’s working at his company."

Jia Lian and Wu Min stopped dead in their tracks, turning to look back at Shen Meng.

"Shen Meng, isn’t Yang Hui the operations manager at Futong Commerce? What the hell is this about being ’self-made’ and ’building a business together’? What do you mean you’re working at Yang Hui’s company?"

An idea formed in both her and Jia Lian’s minds, but it seemed too incredible to believe.

"Yanghe Commerce is the company Yang Hui started himself. I’m working for him now."

Just as they’d suspected. Wu Min’s expression soured. Before, Wang Hua’s position at his company was higher than Yang Hui’s at Futong Commerce. That was her boyfriend’s only one-up. But now, Shen Meng was saying Yang Hui was the owner of Yanghe Commerce. This meant... ’I’ve completely lost, haven’t I?’

"Wonderful, wonderful! This is fantastic news!" Jia Lian exclaimed. "Minmin was right, happiness is better when shared. This is truly a joyous occasion! No wonder Meng Meng always said Yang Hui was busy. Juggling a job to learn the ropes while starting his own company at the same time... he must be incredibly busy."

Jia Lian felt like she finally understood why Yang Hui had never come to meet her, and she immediately began making excuses for him, completely unaware that Yang Hui hadn’t even heard Shen Meng mention it.

"What ’happiness is better when shared’? I’m not happy at all," Wu Min pouted. She grabbed the smoked meat and homegrown vegetables Jia Ru had packed for them and put them in the trunk.

"Honestly, this child. How can you not be happy for your cousin? Next time you come to your aunt’s house, she won’t even feed you," Jia Lian scolded. She then looked at her sister apologetically. ’This kid, Wu Min, really doesn’t know when to keep her mouth shut.’

Shen Ming, who was seeing them off with Jia Ru, heard this but didn’t take it to heart. They all knew what Wu Min was like; no one was going to get angry over it.

"Shen Meng, be careful on the road. Let us know you’ve arrived safely in Qingzhou.""Jia Lian, Minmin, come back and visit often!"

Shen Meng’s fingertip lightly touched the silver start button on the lower right of the dashboard. A faint hum, like the sound of precision machinery engaging, immediately filled the car’s interior.

"Don’t worry, we’re heading back now." She waved to her parents, and the Mercedes C260L slowly pulled away.

Shen Ming and his wife didn’t head home until the car’s taillights had completely vanished from sight. Meanwhile, inside a BMW 3-Series parked in front of the Tang Family’s home, Tang Bin stared unblinkingly at the departing Mercedes C260L and whispered, "Shen Meng, by the end of the year, I’ll show you just how brilliant I can be."

On the highway, Shen Meng already handled the car like a seasoned driver. Yang Hui had been right about her—she was one of those rare drivers who had a natural feel for the road.

"Shen Meng, talk to Yang Hui for me later. I want to work at Yanghe Commerce, too," Wu Min piped up.

Jia Lian opened her mouth, but she stopped herself from scolding her daughter again. If Wu Min could get a job at Yanghe Commerce, it would be a wonderful thing. The only catch, of course, was whether Yanghe Commerce would even want her.

Shen Meng didn’t answer right away. Just as Wu Min, who had been staring until her eyes ached, began to think she was being ignored, Shen Meng finally spoke. "I can recommend you for the official interview process. But I have to warn you, while the pay at Yanghe Commerce is good, the management is just as strict. You’d be working a standard administrative schedule, so you wouldn’t be able to just run off whenever you feel like it, the way you do at Huasheng Commerce."

Wu Min’s face immediately fell. "So, could I make 22,000 a month?" she asked.

Shen Meng shook her head. "When you first join, the base salary starts at 10,000. But as long as you get results, promotions and raises come very quickly."

Hearing it was only 10,000, Wu Min hesitated. At Huasheng Commerce, she had Wang Hua looking out for her, so she could skip work whenever she wanted. To go to Yanghe Commerce, lose all that freedom, and for only a few thousand more a month... she didn’t think it was worth it.

It never occurred to her to wonder why there would be such a large gap between her starting salary and Shen Meng’s. ’That’s just Yang Hui giving Shen Meng special treatment,’ she thought. ’The only reason my salary is so low is because Wang Hua isn’t capable enough to give me more special treatment. Looks like I’ll have to put some more pressure on him when I get back.’
