His hand, which had been fussing with his hair, dropped to his side. He looked as if he’d seen a ghost. "No way. You can make that much money selling designer clothes? I work my ass off scamming people, juggling more than ten accounts a month, and I still can’t make that much."

He lit a cigarette and sat on a nearby stool. "That’s why I’m telling you not to go right now. Besides, she has guests over. She probably won’t have time to bother with you."

The confidence on Tang Bin’s face evaporated. He wasn’t much to look at in the first place, with his shifty, weaselly features. He’d tried to contact Shen Meng before, but she’d always ignored him. They were initially friends on WeChat, but she blocked him as soon as she realized he was trying to hit on her. Tang Bin had always believed it didn’t matter if a man was ugly—as long as he had money, his charisma would skyrocket. Returning home with his newfound earnings, he felt like a hero making a triumphant return. When he saw Shen Meng again, looking even more beautiful than before, he couldn’t suppress his feelings. He even thought this was a heaven-sent opportunity to encounter this beauty again, now that he finally had money.

But when he learned that Shen Meng’s current income was higher than his, all his confidence shattered in an instant. He slumped onto a seat, his face ashen. "Her income probably isn’t stable. I’ll just have to work harder now that I’m back in Qingzhou. I’ll scam... I mean, earn more money. By the end of the year, I’ll buy a Mercedes-Benz GLE and become the sharpest guy in the neighborhood."

Seeing his son’s spirit rekindled by the setback, Old Tang was pleased. He offered some words of comfort, "That’s the spirit. You work hard, and when the time is right, I’ll go talk to Old Shen. Besides, Shen Meng is sure to come back for the Spring Festival. There will be plenty of chances to see her."

Yang Hui didn’t have a car for the weekend, so he’d planned on just lazing around at home. But then that little vixen, Liu Shasha, sent him a text, and he instantly lost all self-control.

[Liu Shasha: President Yang, it’s time to till the fields. I brought black stockings and a female subordinate costume. And most importantly, I brought those panties you can only see when you spread my cheeks.]

[Yang Hui: Xinyue Hotel. Noon.]

He got up and washed. Wenren Meng had already taken the little girl out to play, leaving a warm, nutritious breakfast for him. As he ate, he mulled over how he should punish Liu Shasha for constantly trying to seduce him.

’Then there’s the little girl’s mother, the mysterious Wenren Lan.’ He planned on asking Brother Chun for help looking into her disappearance when they met in the next few days. He wasn’t getting his hopes up, though. After all, they had already filed a police report and posted missing person notices, all to no avail. As influential as Zhang Chun was, his power was in the business world. It wouldn’t be of much use in finding a person. ’Do what you can, and leave the rest to fate.’

Zhang Chun was coming to Qingzhou in a few days and had already arranged to meet with him to catch up. It was clear Zhang Chun was well aware of his recent business ventures. Yang Hui also wanted to ask for advice on the future development of his own brand. A few pointers from a business magnate like Zhang Chun could save him from making a lot of unnecessary mistakes.

He went downstairs and strolled out of the complex. The landscaping of Wenjing Yunlu was like a slowly unfurling Song Dynasty painting. Plane trees, flourishing in an environment with 66% green coverage, let their golden leaves drift down, brushing against the surface of the 80,000-square-meter man-made lake and occasionally startling an egret from the reeds.

He suddenly realized that walking was actually quite nice. ’How many opportunities to get closer to nature did he lose by being cooped up in a car all the time?’ He took a deep breath; the air itself seemed to smell sweet.

When he reached the main gate of the complex, a taxi was pulling over with its right blinker on, clearly dropping someone off. Perfect timing. He walked over to the rear door and waited for the passenger to get out so he could get in.

The moment the door opened, a ray of sunlight sliced into the car, gilding the V-neck of a silk dress in shimmering gold. Yang Bing bent down to step out. As a strand of her hair brushed the doorframe, she looked up and met a pair of almond-shaped eyes that held a hint of a teasing smile. She immediately clutched her chest, her expression changing in an instant.

She exited the car, keeping as much distance from Yang Hui as possible, then scurried into the complex. Her heels clicked rapidly on the pavement, giving her the unlikely air of a professional athlete.

’I really didn’t mean to. First, I had no idea there was a gorgeous woman in there. Second, I didn’t expect her to be wearing a V-neck. When she bent over, my eyes just happened to catch a glimpse of that... bountiful topography. A magnificent pair of snowy peaks.’

Seeing her flee into the complex, a mix of shame and anger on her face, Yang Hui called out a well-meaning reminder, "Slow down! Be careful you don’t twist your ankle."

Yang Bing couldn’t believe that pervert was cursing her. Just as she reached the entrance gate, she turned to shoot him a glare. The result was disastrous. There was a fountain plaza outside the main gate, covered with wooden planks over a clear water feature. As she stepped onto the boardwalk, her head turned to glare at Yang Hui, she failed to see a gap between the planks. Her heel plunged into the crack, and she stumbled, nearly falling flat. Fortunately, her shoe slipped off, so she only pitched forward, catching herself with her hands and narrowly avoiding a face-plant.

Even so, it was a humiliating sight. Yang Bing was so furious she was on the verge of tears. She turned, yanked her shoe out of the gap between the boards, and glared at the handsome face in the back of the taxi. He wore an apologetic smile, but to her, it looked like the smirk of a prankster. ’How despicable! How hateful!’

Seeing her disheveled state, Yang Hui didn’t feel the slightest bit of guilt. ’I did warn her, after all. How can a woman that beautiful be so clumsy?’ His mind inadvertently drifted back to the image of two snow-white orbs.

Zen’s sales yesterday had been outstanding, reaching 320,000 for the day. This was mainly because it was a Saturday, the day of the week with the highest foot traffic. On top of that, Zen’s debut in Qingzhou had attracted a good number of walk-in customers.
