Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?

Chapter 260 - 199: Who’s Bluffing? (Part 2)

Xia Jie nodded in agreement. Manager Yang truly wasn’t the type to take advantage of others. A business partnership could only last if both parties profited; relying on squeezing one side for gains was ultimately not a healthy model. More importantly, if Xinyue Group kept losing money like this, it would likely reflect poorly on President Tian over time and easily open him up to criticism.

This livestream was a trial run, using a batch of goods negotiated exclusively with NLB Brand Company. The brand company had pulled these items from their physical retail stores, added some backstock, and supplied it all to Yanghe Commerce at 20% of the retail price. Yanghe Commerce then sold it online for 50-60% of retail, resulting in a profit margin of over 60%. It was an absolute windfall.

Apparently, Serene had been the one to request these terms from NLB’s headquarters. She had guaranteed that Yanghe Commerce’s annual online sales would reach at least 20 million, a confidence born from the success of the last Airex livestream.

"Congratulations, you’ve made quite a bit this time," Xia Jie, who was normally very quiet, said in a rare moment of jest. Perhaps because of her connection to Yang Hui, she had naturally grown closer to Shen Meng.

At Yanghe Commerce, the livestream team’s earnings were tied to their performance. The streamers received 3% of the livestream’s sales revenue, and Shen Meng, as the team leader, received 2% of the total revenue. Since Shen Meng had personally hosted today’s stream, she effectively earned a 5% commission on sales, which amounted to well over 200,000.

Her commission from a single livestream was more than she had earned in two whole years at Futong Commerce. The best part was that she had also helped her boyfriend make a profit.

"I can’t be the host next time," Shen Meng said. "We need to give opportunities like this to the younger members of the team and build them up."

Xia Jie knew what she meant. With a livestream this successful, it was important to give the people under her more chances; otherwise, wouldn’t it be like competing with her own subordinates for profit? That was something Shen Meng would never stoop to do. In fact, when the sales figures for the day were released, they caused an uproar.

When the two streamers on Yanghe Commerce’s livestream team heard the news, their first thought was, ’This is an insane amount of money.’

Director Shen had said that from now on, livestreams like this would be handed over to them. Currently, that would probably mean one stream for NLB and one for Zen each month. Even if future streams didn’t perform as well as the first one—say, they only hit 3 million in sales each—that would still be 6 million in sales per month for the two brands combined. At a 3% commission, that would be 90,000 for each of them. Oh my god, was this something they could even dream of in their early twenties?

They weren’t the only ones who had done the math; the entire company had. During the afternoon tea break, everyone offered their congratulations, which left the two streamers feeling both overjoyed and a little worried.

"Will the company really let us earn this much? What if they think it’s too high and lower our commission rate?"

The HR representative, knowing these two newcomers didn’t understand the boss’s character, smiled and said, "Don’t you worry. The boss isn’t that small-minded. Besides, the more you earn, the more you’ve contributed to the company. To each according to their contribution—that’s only fair."

The two streamers looked at each other, realizing that Yanghe Commerce was truly different from other companies. Elsewhere, if an employee started making this much money, not only would the boss find ways to lower the bonus standards, but jealous colleagues would try to trip you up and make your success unsustainable. Or, someone with connections would try to squeeze in and take your spot.

But it was different here. Everyone just focused on doing their own job well and seemed to genuinely approve of the boss’s compensation structure. Of course, that might just be because the company was still small with not too many people. Once it grew larger, there would inevitably be a mix of the good and the bad.

But at least one thing was certain: the boss and the veteran leadership at this company were genuinely happy to see employees earn more through their own hard work. The two of them secretly cheered themselves on. ’We have to do a great job. Finding a company like this is the kind of good fortune you only get once in a lifetime—or maybe many lifetimes.’

The company’s planning department immediately drafted a celebratory sales report and had all employees share it on their social media feeds. At the same time, over at Xinyue Group, President Tian and Cheng Jun were also quick to congratulate Yang Hui.

The numbers were a bit staggering, though of course, this was the result of multiple factors. There was the mall’s promotional work to attract customers, the massive number of consumer spending coupons, and the fact that NLB had never offered such low prices online before, which certainly drove many customers to make impulse purchases. Of course, Shen Meng’s outstanding performance as the livestream host also played a significant role.

Serene, of course, also congratulated him.

[Yang Hui: The feeling is mutual. We both win when we work together.]

Seeing the message, a lovely smile graced Serene’s lips as she grumbled to herself, ’Always trying to flirt with me, yet he doesn’t even have the guts to come over for dinner when I ask him.’

Seeing her daughter let out a rare laugh, Aunt Zheng asked, "Who are you messaging?"

Serene replied, "Yang Hui."

Looking at her devastatingly beautiful daughter, Aunt Zheng found herself increasingly baffled by the younger generation. ’Was my matchmaking no good?’ she wondered. ’Do they build a better connection just by talking on their own?’

Song Wen gave Serene a call. "You have a great eye. When you promised the company that Yanghe Commerce could generate at least 20 million in online sales a year, I thought you were exaggerating. After all, even for online sales, we controlled the discount level. To be honest, that discount isn’t considered particularly steep for an online channel."

Serene knew, of course, that the reason Yanghe Commerce was able to do so well was because of Xinyue Group’s excellent platform, which had a follower base of over five million. That, combined with the consumer subsidies—even though her company had set the price floor at 60% of retail, the coupons effectively brought it down to 54%. A discount of that magnitude was truly unprecedented.
