Why Are the Psychos Obsessed with a Mere NPC?
Chapter 303 - 302: Getting the Certificate 2
The sun shone brightly today.
The weather was fair and pleasant.
The birds sang and the flowers were fragrant.
The interstellar civil affairs bureau.
At first glance, the light was blinding. But upon entering, you’d find the dome was a massive holographic projection, simulating a blue sky, white clouds, and a hundred blooming flowers.
Jian Yu’s right hand was looped around Pei Yin’s arm as she stood on the polished metal floor.
She looked down at her red high heels.
The heels were thin, making a crisp CLICK-CLACK sound on the floor.
The pounding of her heart throbbed in her ears, a foreign sensation that left her flustered.
Getting married. To four people, no less.
Jian Yu subconsciously glanced back at the four figures behind her.
Their towering heights, eye-catching looks, and stylish clothes had drawn the attention of nearly everyone in the room the moment they walked in.
"Citizen number 9968, please enter the information collection pod."
A mechanical voice interrupted her thoughts.
Jian Yu took a deep breath.
Xi Yu pushed Pei Yin aside and enthusiastically lifted the hem of her dress. His long, fair fingers on the red fabric added a certain amorous charm.
His ears turned red, and his gaze was dazed. "Baby, you go in first."
For one man and four women, the man registers first.
Conversely, for one woman and four men, the woman goes in first.
It was like how the head of the household always appears on the first page of the household register.
Pei Yin couldn’t win against Xi Yu, so he resorted to a snide remark, becoming passive-aggressive again. "You look like a dog."
Xi Yu didn’t listen.
Xi Yu lived in his own world and had always played by his own rules.
He bent down, held Jian Yu, and pressed his forehead against hers. As he pulled away, he reluctantly planted a soft kiss on her forehead.
The gesture was light and restrained, but Jian Yu saw that the corners of his eyes were a little red.
The pod door closed, and a faint blue beam of light scanned her from head to toe.

The data fluctuated wildly, and Jian Yu felt a wave of slight dizziness.
When she stepped out of the collection pod, the clerk in charge of registration was staring at the light-brain screen, her eyes nearly popping out of their sockets.
Jian Yu!!!
The clerk was a young woman. She had been mechanically repeating her work, but now she looked as if she had seen some kind of unbelievable monster.
This time, it wasn’t a fake Jian Yu—it was the real Jian Yu!
"Registering spouses... four of them? So many?" she mumbled admiringly, a hint of envy in her tone.
After reading the file, she recalled the online gossip about those few Chiefs. She nudged the man next to her with her arm, not daring to gossip outright and resorting to meaningful glances instead.
’See that? Jian Yu, four spouses. Maybe the four who come in next are those high and mighty figures.’
Her colleague, a man with curly hair, saw her pointing at the number 4 and immediately connected it to Awakeners of A Rank and above.
He hadn’t noticed the Level 3S assessment, only seeing the applicant count in the spouse column at the top: 4.
The Awakening Level was blocked by the young female clerk, so the curly-haired man couldn’t see it.
The first thing he did was check if Jian Yu was a commoner or a noble.
Seeing she was a commoner registered at Weis Lan Noble Academy, he curled his lip in disdain, guessing she was just another down-and-out noble who got lucky and Awakened after being kicked out of their family.
His own family, in contrast, had stood for generations and continued to produce exceptional individuals.
The curly-haired man sized Jian Yu up with a critical eye, his voice low. "Another one with plastic surgery. She did a better job of looking like her than the others and even took the exact same name."
"???" The young female colleague frantically blinked and shot him a look.
"..." Jian Yu knew that overworked grunts could be hostile, so she didn’t take it to heart.
She stood before the counter, her nervousness making her expression tense. Her small face looked cold and aloof.
The curly-haired man’s eyes roamed, and he subconsciously made a comparison in his mind.
Her eyes were bigger than those of his wives, her skin was fairer, and her waist even slimmer.
Her light makeup, festive red cinched-waist dress, slender figure, and curled lashes made her already snow-white face seem even more bloodless, yet it exuded a stunningly fragile beauty.
’She really does look a lot like Jian Yu.’
’And there aren’t many signs of plastic surgery on her face, either.’
’Should I have my two wives get the same work done later?’
The curly-haired man’s gaze faltered. "Your plastic surgery is quite successful. Where’d you get it done?"
Jian Yu looked up, bewildered. "I haven’t had any."
The curly-haired man rolled his eyes.
Jian Yu rolled her eyes back. "You’re sick."
The curly-haired man was about to get angry, but seeing her ’petulant’ eye-roll, his anger dissipated, and his thoughts turned a little sordid.
The female colleague couldn’t resist nudging the curly-haired man with her elbow to warn him.
The warning failed.
The female colleague gave Jian Yu an awkward smile and sped up the registration process.
She looked at Jian Yu’s watery eyes, which seemed to hold a layer of mist. Her long, thick lashes were like two tiny fans that could flutter their way into a person’s heart with a single tremble.
Her voice unconsciously became softer and higher-pitched. "Once they come in, we can get this sorted out for you right away."
Jian Yu lowered her lashes. "Thank you."
Her lips looked as if they had just been rouged, and when she spoke, her teeth were revealed to be white and perfectly straight.
The female colleague’s heart thumped wildly, and she couldn’t stop herself from trying to make small talk.
So, she asked a redundant question, "Four of them, right?"
"Yes, four," Jian Yu replied softly.
Pei Yin and the others came in shortly after.
The curly-haired man immediately looked up, his gaze shifting back and forth between Jian Yu and the four men standing behind her.
The four men all had broad shoulders and narrow waists. They had a powerful presence, exuding an aura of "rich" and "don’t mess with me."
Most importantly, their faces were also ’plastic surgery faces.’
It wasn’t the first time he’d seen impersonators, but it was the first time he’d seen any who fit the image so perfectly, without any of the cheap, knock-off quality.
The curly-haired man was green with envy, so jealous it set his teeth on edge.
He himself had gotten surgery to look like Chief Si Xu, but afterward, he’d been hunted down and beaten by Si Xu’s fans. They insisted his demeanor was creepy and he was too short, forcing him to get it reversed.
Looking at Jian Yu’s slender and delicate frame, as if she might be blown over by a gust of wind, the sordid little thoughts in the curly-haired man’s mind were practically overflowing.
Then he looked at the tall, handsome men next to her. ’Damn it,’ he thought, ’this work is too good.’
The curly-haired man narrowed his eyes and suddenly let out a derisive snort.
He complained, "I’m telling you, have some shame. Every single one of you getting plastic surgery to look like the ’Chiefs.’ And you did four of them at once! Be careful you don’t get drowned in spit by their fans."
Jian Yu froze for a moment, not getting a chance to explain before—
The curly-haired man shook his head again. "Your demeanors don’t match. You’re too creepy. You should go get it reversed right away, and don’t let them see you. The Chiefs you’re imitating have the worst tempers. They hate it when people get surgery to look like them and parade around. You’ve got some nerve."
Jian Yu opened her mouth, but suddenly found herself speechless.
’I regret not letting Xi Yu and the others’ guards come in with us,’ she thought. ’Leaving them at the door has no deterrent effect at all.’
The female colleague’s heart went cold.
She stomped on the curly-haired man’s foot. ’Shut up, you idiot!’
The curly-haired man raised his hand to slap her.
He didn’t succeed. With a flick of his sleeve, Si Xu sent him flying.
The curly-haired man tumbled twice across the floor before hitting the wall with a THUD.
A flash of white light appeared, forming rings that settled over the curly-haired man like a curse.
