Why Are the Psychos Obsessed with a Mere NPC?

"Mm," Sheng Yue said, turning his head away. The back of his neck and ears flushed red.

His voice was cool. "Don’t call me ’President’."

Jian Yu leaned down and kissed him, silencing his words.

Sheng Yue’s arms wrapped around her waist.

The delicate scent of orchids from Jian Yu’s body filled his senses, like an invisible net entangling him layer by layer.

His heart hammered wildly in his chest, blood roared in his ears, and his rationality teetered on the brink of collapse.

Sheng Yue clenched his jaw, suppressing the urge.

Something brushed against his earlobe, and a hand slipped under his shirt, resting on his waist.

A tingling numbness shot through his nerves and straight to his soul. Every muscle in Sheng Yue’s body tensed, his nerves screaming as he lost control, yet his face remained deathly calm.

’I can’t move. I don’t dare move.’

Overwhelmed by a torrent of emotions, Sheng Yue greedily pulled her closer.

Her warmth seeped through the fabric of their clothes and into his skin.

Closeness. Clarity.

"You..." Jian Yu’s gaze drifted downward.

Mortified, Sheng Yue pushed Jian Yu away and fled into the tent.

Jian Yu sighed.

She hugged the blanket, balled it up, closed her eyes, and went straight to sleep.

The lake water was freezing, its bone-chilling cold extinguishing all the heat.

Sheng Yue frowned. ’What was I running from?’

He pivoted on his heel and hurried back.

As he passed the cave where the Heavy Python had appeared, he glanced at it instinctively.

He wished he hadn’t. The sight made him freeze.

Sheng Yue stopped and walked toward the cave entrance.

The crater smashed open by the Heavy Python’s massive tail was still there.

But the entrance itself had vanished, leaving only a flat cliff face with a few vines hanging down.

Sheng Yue observed it for a moment.

’How could the cave be gone?’

"Gone?" Ling Yanzhi was extremely annoyed.

He called back Red Snake. "Stop the pursuit. Any further and we’ll be at the border of Emperor Wolf Star."

Red Snake slithered onto Ling Yanzhi’s shoulder. "Who was that just now? He wasn’t affected by the Soul Ghost Body, so why did he help it escape?"

Yang Zhang didn’t know.

Yang Zhang waved its tentacles.

Yang Zhang guessed wildly, "Just because he’s wearing a military uniform doesn’t mean he’s from the military. The Mecha jumped to Emperor Wolf Star, but that doesn’t mean it’s the final destination."

Ling Yanzhi offered a counter-theory. "It’s also possible he *is* from the military. He could be heading to Emperor Wolf Star to rendezvous with others of his kind."

Red Snake fumed, "And here I thought he was one of the good guys."

Xi Yu, his breathing ragged, said, "If we tell Ji Shiyin to intercept them, he should still be able to make it in time."

Ji Shiyin was already en route. It would be faster for him to intercept than for them to jump from Emperor Source Star to Emperor Wolf Star.

Without turning his head, Ling Yanzhi said, "I told him to go directly to Emperor Wolf Star. We’ll rendezvous with Duan Feiye first."

Duan Feiye and Si Xu were having a meal.

A large floating screen hovered in front of Si Xu, its contents pixelated.

Duan Feiye shot Si Xu a contemptuous look as he ate.

Xi Yu sat down between them, grabbing Si Xu’s apple with his left hand and Duan Feiye’s chicken leg with his right.

He thanked them politely, "Thanks, Ah Xu, Feifei."

Si Xu glanced down his nose at him, maintaining his aloof air.

Duan Feiye reached out and pulled on Yang Zhang’s tentacle to inspect it. "Didn’t you just take six apples this morning?"

Yang Zhang waved a tentacle, revealing a Space Chain. "Saving them for Baby."

Duan Feiye was speechless. "..."

Ling Yanzhi sat down.

Suddenly, Red Snake began tapping its tail excitedly.

’That’s a bit unusual.’

Ling Yanzhi narrowed his eyes lazily and flicked its forehead. "Spit it out."

"Ahem." Red Snake’s childlike voice echoed through the rest area. "Baby says she misses Ayan a lot."

Everyone: "..."

The corners of Ling Yanzhi’s mouth curved up. He was openly pleased.

Si Xu’s gaze shifted toward them.

Red Snake held its head high, looking down its nose. "Baby didn’t mention you."

Si Xu’s expression turned cold.

Xi Yu looked up expectantly. "What about me?"

Red Snake hesitated. "She... misses you too."

Xi Yu was satisfied.

Duan Feiye scoffed.

Red Snake laughed even louder than him. "Hahaha."

Duan Feiye was speechless again. "..."

Meanwhile, a Star Brain received a message.

Ji Shiyin glanced at it and changed his Mecha’s trajectory.

Little Flying Bear, sucking on a milk bottle, asked, "Whose Mecha is A63?"

Ji Shiyin’s eyes curved into crescents. "I don’t know either."

Little Flying Bear took a big gulp of milk and opened the military’s internal network.

A63.

It stopped swinging its legs. "Oh no, Master, that Mecha belongs to our Ji Family."

Ji Shiyin chuckled. "Well, that’s just perfect."

Little Flying Bear whimpered gleefully.

It fiddled with the Star Brain and asked, "Master, how’s this?"

The Star Brain Floating Screen rose up beside them.

Ji Shiyin spared it a sidelong glance.

Urgent Report on Hostile Mecha A63 and Its Occupants

To the Alliance Command:

Reconnaissance has confirmed the discovery of hostile Mecha A63. Based on intelligence analysis, the occupants are suspected to be undercover agents planted by the Ji Family of the Imperial City. To ensure the security of the Alliance, this report is hereby filed to formally request a thorough investigation into the Ji Family.

Little Flying Bear looked for praise. "I’m giving them something to do."

Ji Shiyin smiled, cute dimples appearing on his cheeks. "I’ll thank Little Flying Bear on their behalf."

"It’s my duty," Little Flying Bear said, covering its eyes with its paws and squirming shyly.

BOOM!

The atmosphere tore apart as the Mecha landed on the border of Emperor Wolf Star.

Two silver Mechas collided violently, their blue tail flames gradually shrinking.

Ji Shiyin stabilized himself, his fingers swiping across the control console.

His spiritual power coalesced into four thick barriers, trapping the opposing Mecha.

The barriers contracted and squeezed, and the tough Mecha began to crack.

Two figures ejected from the damaged enemy Mecha.

A man and a woman.

The man wore the standard combat uniform of a military soldier.

The woman wore the uniform of a sophomore from Weis Lan on Imperial Capital Star.

Little Flying Bear pressed its cheek against the Mecha’s screen.

Its round eyes strained to see. "Master, why is she wearing our school’s uniform?"

The pair didn’t spare a glance at the smoking Mecha; they turned and ran.

Ji Shiyin leaped out of his Mecha.

Little Flying Bear flew over, its palm open.

In mid-air, a giant palm print formed from Soul Power swept forward with a whistling wind.

BANG!

The man didn’t even have time to scream before he was slammed into the ground, becoming a "human pancake."

The girl was tightly protected by the Soul Ghost Body.

But she was still thrown half a meter by the aftershock.

Little Flying Bear turned its head and dove back into Ji Shiyin’s arms.

It tugged at Ji Shiyin anxiously. "What if I used too much force?"

Ji Shiyin ruffled Little Flying Bear’s head. "Your Brother Ayan never said he wanted them alive."

An S-Class Soul Ghost Body twisted as it separated from the girl.

It roared, "So annoying!"

’Humans are so damn annoying.’

’If you’re going to fight, then fight. If you’re going to kill, then kill.’

’Stop acting so innocent!’

The Soul Ghost Body launched an attack at Ji Shiyin.

"A weak one’s arrived. That’s even better. The weaker you are, the greater my chance of victory."

The erected Soul Beast Cover developed spiderweb-like cracks.

Little Flying Bear’s body swelled. It lifted its round, chubby butt and brought it down on the Soul Ghost Body in a "Mount Tai Pressing Down."

PFFFT—

It sounded like a deflating balloon.

The Soul Ghost Body cackled strangely. "You asked for this. You weren’t my original target. It’s... it’s useless. My goal... is already achieved. Even if you kill me, it won’t matter, hahahaha."

Before it died, it glanced at the girl it had just possessed.

Its form tore apart. The stench of death spread, followed by a cloyingly sweet fragrance that quickly filled the air.

Little Flying Bear gnawed on its paw, feeling dizzy. "Master, what did it mean?"

Ji Shiyin’s brow furrowed, his face flushing red.

Just then, the university student clutched her head and asked dazedly, "What happened?"

She started tearing at her clothes as she crawled toward Ji Shiyin.
