Chapter 263: Chapter 160: Underground Palace? The Bloodthirsty Vine’s Sneak Attack! Falling into the Abyss

It seemed the strength and intelligence of this Bloodthirsty Vine King were equally terrifying.

If the Primitive Jungle on the surface was the hunting ground of the Blood-tooth Python, Stone Claw Eagle, and Unihorn Catfish...

Then this subterranean world was likely the kingdom of the Bloodthirsty Vine King!

Its own private palace...

The four of them and the dog stood at the edge of the cliff, gazing down at the scattered rock outcroppings below, their hearts filled with hesitation.

’Should we go down and take a look?’

’After all, we’ve come all this way.’

The entire purpose of this trip was to investigate the cave’s environment and get a measure of the Bloodthirsty Vine King and the Stone Claw Eagle.

Now, after such a long journey, they had finally arrived. Both animal instinct and the scents they tracked clearly warned them that the two Extraordinary Creatures were very close.

But still, they hesitated.

The abyss was simply too deep, and what lay below was shrouded in mystery.

If they went down recklessly and ran into a deadly crisis, there would be no time to escape.

After all, even now, they had no real grasp of the Stone Claw Eagle’s or the Bloodthirsty Vine King’s true power. If they went down and never came back up...

Traveling all this way just to get themselves killed would be an absolute joke.

But just as they hesitated, Chen Chong’s eyes shot wide open!

An intense sense of danger flooded his mind!

His animal instinct instantly went into overdrive.

That familiar sensation of impending death washed over him once more!

’Where?’

’Below!?’

It all happened so suddenly, there was no time to prepare.

In his desperation, Chen Chong didn’t even have time to shout. He could only act on instinct, grabbing Xu Jun—who was closest and also the weakest—and flinging him backward.

By the time he tried to do the same for the Tiger Striped Dog...

It was already too late.

CRACK—

The ground cracked rapidly before exploding in the blink of an eye. An impossibly thick, black vine erupted from within.

What was even more terrifying was that this main vine was covered in countless smaller, denser offshoots.

They were covered in savage, sharp barbs, each as long and wide as a person’s palm!

The remaining three men and the dog lost their footing. Before they could react, the vine... moved!

It began to whip around wildly, attacking everything around it indiscriminately.

Its range covered nearly ten meters!

Wherever it passed, deep gouges were carved into the rocky ground, sending shards of stone flying.

Wang Biao, standing on the left, was the first to be struck.

Fortunately, the Bipolar Bow he was holding blocked the fatal strike. Nevertheless, he was sent flying like a pebble and smashed heavily onto the ground in the distance.

Qi Zhen was caught in the attack as well, whipped clear off the ground.

Worse, he was sent flying toward the cliff!

But thanks to his years of physical conditioning, he not only possessed a body as tough as iron and stone, but his control over it was also incredibly precise.

At the last possible second, he dug his fingers into the rock face, leaving him dangling in mid-air.

He had avoided falling into the abyss and was now clear of the vine’s attacks from above.

But Chen Chong and the Tiger Striped Dog were not so lucky...

Because he had prioritized getting Xu Jun out of the attack range, he and the dog were now positioned directly in front of the vine—and closest to the cliff.

With the vine whipping about indiscriminately, he had no chance to escape.

He could only shield the Tiger Striped Dog with his body and activate Rock Body Transformation, intending to endure the onslaught head-on!

The vine’s attacks were powerful, but fortunately, Rock Body Transformation’s defense was nothing to scoff at. It perfectly blocked all the damage, but...

The impact force from the vine, which struck like a bladed whip, could not be completely nullified.

Chen Chong was steadily forced backward, and the space where the Tiger Striped Dog stood was shrinking.

The man and his dog were less than half a meter from falling into the abyss!

To make matters worse, the rock at their feet began to crumble under the vine’s frenzied thrashing...

Finally!

As a large section of the cliff edge broke away, the Tiger Striped Dog let out a mournful howl and was the first to plunge into the abyss.

With no room to dodge or maneuver, Chen Chong immediately followed, swallowed by the darkness...
