Chapter 175: Chapter 125: Concept of an Extraordinary Weapon! Outsiders in the Next Transmigration? Survivors and the Ultimate Score
It was the dead of night. Although the moonlight kept it from being pitch-black, it was still difficult to make out the details on anyone’s face.
He hadn’t really noticed before, but now that Xu Jun mentioned it...
Zhong Fang finally noticed the bloodstains on his face and asked in disbelief:
"Dude, no way... you ate it raw?"
Xu Jun fell silent. "It wasn’t voluntary, but yes, I ate it raw."
Zhong Fang was stunned speechless and couldn’t say a word for a long moment.
’This guy is a different breed,’ he suddenly realized. He, for one, could never bring himself to eat raw snake meat. Raw fish, maybe... he could just about stomach that.
Seeing this, Chen Chong didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
He had already found this out back in the cavern.
At first, when he saw Xu Jun wake up with his mouth covered in fresh blood, he thought he’d suffered some injury and was coughing up blood.
But when he asked, he learned that Xu Jun wasn’t injured at all. All the blood came from the Blood-tooth Python.
When the grievously wounded Blood-tooth Python had tried to flee to the bottom of the pool, Xu Jun, desperate to keep his grip, had latched onto its raw, scale-less wound with his teeth.
He bit down for as long as the Blood-tooth Python fled.
A person has to swallow, right?
Every time Xu Jun swallowed, it was a mouthful of blood. Swallow, blood. Sometimes, there were even chunks of shredded flesh mixed in...
And so, by the time they emerged from the underground current into the karst cave, Xu Jun was thrown off and lay on the ground, unable to recover for a long while.
He wasn’t dazed from the fall, but so stuffed he could barely stand.
Along the way, pool water and blood had gushed into his stomach. Even he didn’t know just how much of the Blood-tooth Python’s blood and flesh he had consumed.
If the pool water hadn’t washed some of it away, his face would have been covered in even more blood.
However, this also indirectly proved that the flesh of Extraordinary Creatures was edible—at least the Blood-tooth Python’s was. Otherwise, Xu Jun would have felt sick long ago.
In fact, after consuming the Blood-tooth Python’s blood and flesh, his body underwent a special change: his wounds healed faster, and he became stronger than before.
Although the increase was extremely subtle, Xu Jun confirmed it multiple times. The change was definitely happening.
’Chen Chong guessed that consuming the flesh of Extraordinary Creatures wasn’t just beneficial for animals like the Tiger Striped Dog and the Lion-headed Goose, but for humans as well. It would cause their physical constitution to gradually approach that of a Transcendent.’
’The effect just wasn’t very obvious, far less significant than a direct boost from an Ability Card.’
’But having such an effect still made it far more valuable than eating the meat of ordinary beasts.’
’No one would complain about getting stronger. Even a sliver of improvement was better than none at all.’
’Xu Jun’s physical strength wasn’t high, but after using a comprehensive enhancement, he had already reached the threshold of a Transcendent. If even he experienced such an effect...’
’...The effect would only be stronger for an ordinary person who ate the Blood-tooth Python’s meat.’
’In this dangerous new world they’d been thrown into, this offered an absolutely incredible advantage. It could give these fragile university students an extra edge for survival, helping them better adapt to their current reality...’
...
In the blink of an eye, the dim night began to fade.
A sliver of light appeared on the horizon as the sun slowly began to rise...
Zhong Fang and Chen Chong led a group of people out of the karst cave, their faces showing a touch of exhaustion.
No one had rested all night, including Ning Yu.
After personally digging a grave and burying the bodies of the two members, she had joined in carrying the Blood-tooth Python. Throughout the whole process, she showed no further trace of sadness, nor did she say another word, simply focusing silently on the task at hand.
"This is the fourth trip, and the last one. Once we get this back, we can finally rest."
"Everyone, just hang in there a little longer. We can all sleep after this trip..."
The members of the Fishing Club, carrying large and small chunks of snake meat, were exhausted, each of them sporting dark circles under their eyes, but not a single one complained.
After walking for several hours, the group entered the school through a side entrance and went into an empty club room...
This club room was right next to the Swordsmanship Club’s and had originally been allocated by the school for the Swordsmanship Club to use as a training area.
But because the club didn’t have many members and couldn’t make use of such a large space, it had been locked up and left vacant.
There were too many chunks of Blood-tooth Python meat—tens of thousands of pounds of it—so moving it to someone’s home was unrealistic. The bloodstains would also dirty the floors. Leaving it here was clearly the better choice, and it would be more convenient for the subsequent large-scale roasting and smoking...
Gazing at the snake meat, now piled up into a small mountain, everyone’s eyes were filled with exhaustion, but even more so with excitement.
It had been fourteen days since they arrived in this world. Regardless of their personalities before, they had all developed the habit of conserving food.
They didn’t waste a single bite and had a craving for food like never before.
Now, seeing so much meat piled before them, they instantly felt that the whole night of hard work had been worth it.
The only question was... their group hadn’t participated in the hunt for the Blood-tooth Python, so they had no idea how much of the meat they would get a share of.
Then again, even if Chen Chong didn’t plan on sharing, the group, led by Zhong Fang, most likely wouldn’t have complained. After all, Chen Chong had already helped them more than enough...
If Chen Chong didn’t bring it up, they wouldn’t ask.
But the small, expectant looks in their eyes betrayed their inner thoughts.
Chen Chong smiled as he watched many of them staring hungrily at the snake meat.
’Even though the Fishing Club didn’t participate in the initial hunt for the Blood-tooth Python, they rushed over afterward to search for the wounded, haul the meat, and even risked their lives standing guard in the jungle for half the night...’
’The guys were so reliable, I can’t be stingy, can I?’
’Besides, after working together a few times, it was clear—though unsaid—that the Fishing Club was starting to follow his lead. They were practically looking to him for direction.’
