Chapter 356: Chapter 356: Misleader’s Blank Bookmark, Faceless Divine Son

The image he’d seen just now was a prophecy in effect.

Judging by the entanglement of fate’s threads, all three of them standing in this alley were part of this prophecy.

When Lance looked seriously at Ella,

he caught a glimpse of a future fragment centered on her.

In that blurry vision, he saw Ella pinned to a metal dissection table by a strange, unnaturally handsome man using a Technique.

All kinds of gleaming Alchemy Equipment were laid out beside her.

And then...

A glint of cold light flashed from the man’s hand, and a blinding spray of blood instantly splattered across the vision, dyeing his entire field of view red.

The momentary shock sent Lance into a brief trance.

He shook his head violently, forcibly tearing himself away from the strange vision and back to his senses.

"What’s wrong?"

Ella, standing to the side, looked at Lance strangely.

"Nothing."

Lance quickly composed himself and shook his head at Ella.

He didn’t voice what he had just seen. Fate cannot be spoken of unless woven into a prophecy.

It was better to focus on solving the problem.

He glanced at the panel, which had just changed.

[Commissioned Quest: Cyan Moon’s Return Home]

[Quest Difficulty Rating: Extremely Hard (Interfered with by an unknown prophecy, the trajectory of fate is shifting)]

Although the quest had formally appeared on the panel,

its follow-up description and specific objectives were extremely vague, the text seemingly garbled by some kind of interference.

However, the words were slowly solidifying, a process that seemed to require more time.

Even if the quest description was unclear,

Lance could already guess the gist of it based on the vision of fate he’d just seen.

The main objective of the [Cyan Moon’s Return Home] quest had to be escorting Ella safely back to her hometown.

What truly surprised Lance were the phased rewards offered by this extremely hard quest.

[Phase One Estimated Rewards Generating...]

[Reward 1: Rare Bloodline Extraction. You may select one bloodline from the basic Werewolf Species bloodline pool to permanently integrate.]

Seeing this reward actually surprised Lance a little.

His experience and knowledge were simply too limited.

He never knew that the classifications of Werewolf Species had so many strictly hierarchical bloodline branches.

In the basic bloodline pool were the more common-sounding ones like the Earth Hyena Wolf Species, Iron Rock Wolf Species, and Mire Water Wolf Species.

And among the higher-tier bloodlines above them,

there were even the Steel-Bristled Wolf Species, Plague Wolf Species, and Red Hunting Wolf Species.

Each of these high-tier wolf species’ names sounded more fearsome than the last.

Lance couldn’t help but turn and glance at Ella, who was currently bent over, viciously kicking the unconscious Yasa a couple of times to vent her anger.

’This silly mutt...’

Lance grumbled inwardly.

’She doesn’t look too bright. Could she be from the Husky Wolf Species?’

Although the phase one reward only allowed him to choose a Talent from an Ordinary Werewolf Species for a bloodline boost,

Lance estimated that as this long-term quest progressed and the difficulty increased,

the rewards in subsequent phases would definitely allow him to unlock and integrate those more powerful bloodlines.

’Oh, panel, my dear panel...’

Lance lamented silently.

’Am I finally going to stop being human?’

’Or will it adapt to my human bloodline?’

Besides this bloodline reward that could alter his Constitution,

the panel also listed several other rather peculiar reward options.

The names of these rewards all had the [Jhin, the Virtuoso] prefix.

For example, one of the items was called [Jhin, the Virtuoso - Misleader’s Blank Bookmark].

This seemingly unremarkable bookmark possessed the ability to alter the core of a Legend to a limited extent!

’Change the core of a Legend?’

Lance’s heart stirred.

However, he quickly calmed down again.

His own three Legends were still swirling around his title and hadn’t fully solidified yet.

So, at this current stage, he didn’t have much use for the bookmark.

While Lance was checking the rewards,

Rein had already limped over to his side.

"Thank God you’re still alive, kid!"

Rein walked up to Lance, reached out with his big hands, and squeezed Lance’s shoulders firmly.

The old Hound’s eyes were filled with joy.

You could tell from his slightly trembling hands that he was genuinely happy Lance had survived.

"Sorry to make you worry."

Lance smiled and opened his arms, giving Rein a solid hug.

"I’m glad I made it in time tonight. It’s good that you’re all okay."

After they separated,

"Uncle Rein, I’ve actually run into some serious trouble."

The smile on Rein’s face instantly vanished.

He sensed something was wrong from Lance’s tone.

He nodded.

"This isn’t the place to talk. Patrols could come by at any moment. Follow us back to our temporary lodging. We can talk in detail once we’re there."

"Okay."

Lance nodded.

He turned, faced the unconscious body of Yasa on the ground, and gently raised his right hand.

Gravity Phase, activate!

Yasa’s body immediately began to levitate, floating in mid-air.

Rein studied it for a moment.

This telekinetic ability looked a lot like the Spells used by Casters, but Rein could tell it wasn’t from the same system.

’This ability... why does it look so much like the exclusive bloodline Talent of the legendary Bronze Dragon clan?’

’This Lance... he’s becoming more and more inscrutable.’

Led by Rein, the three of them hurried through several deserted streets under the cover of night.

Finally, they arrived at an area in the southeast of the camp.

Rein and Ella were currently living in a small wooden cabin provided by White River City.

The room was small, only about thirty-odd square meters, with a small kitchen and washroom attached.

It had all the basic necessities.

As soon as they entered, Rein lit a dim kerosene lamp.

Xiaohai and Bean Bun were indeed here, and they immediately ran over to Lance, wagging their tails happily.

Lance gave them a few pats before getting back to the matter at hand, quickly revealing everything about being blessed by an Evil God.

He also showed them the mark.

Ella and Rein both leaned in toward Lance’s chest, carefully examining the red mark.

Rein frowned, staring at the mark for a while.

His expression turned extremely grim.

"You’ve really gotten yourself into big trouble this time, kid,"

Rein said in a low voice.

"If I’m not mistaken, this is the legendary ’Farso’s Contract,’ bestowed by the Faceless God!"

Rein looked up into Lance’s eyes.

"This kind of Divine Contract can typically only be possessed by those chosen as a Divine Son within the ’Faceless Hermitage Association.’"

"However..."

There was a hint of confusion in Rein’s voice.

"For the past hundred years, the major True Divine Halls across the continent have been relentlessly hunting down the Divine Sons of the Faceless Hermitage Association."

"Because of this, that Evil God, Faros, hasn’t bestowed this kind of Divine Son blessing in the Material Realm for a very, very long time."

Rein’s face was fraught with worry.

"Is it very risky?"

Lance asked as he pulled his shirt back down and straightened his clothes.

Standing to the side, Ella watched Lance pull his shirt down and smacked her lips, looking somewhat unsatisfied.

She tutted twice, a sense of disappointment like a good show had been interrupted halfway. She pouted and averted her gaze.

Rein nodded and explained:

"The risk isn’t about any negative effects the blessing itself might have on you."

"The real risk lies in the trouble that the identity of a ’Faceless Divine Son’ will attract if it’s ever exposed."
