Chapter 159: Chapter 159: Dragon Slayer Leonidas

"Damn it..."

Molok had just uttered those two words when the Power from the backlash of fate erupted completely.

BOOM!!

The massive bookshelf on the side of the study, which held over a thousand notebooks, instantly groaned under the immense strain.

Immediately after, a spectral, Blue ice-flame violently exploded from one of the notebooks on the shelf!

The raging Blue ice-flame swept through the entire study like a tsunami.

The priceless wool carpet, the oil paintings, and even the oak desk were not burned to ash the moment they came into contact with the spectral Blue ice-flame.

Instead, they were instantly frozen into brittle ice crystals, then pulverized into a cloud of fine dust by the violent shockwave.

This terrifying event instantly alerted the entire manor.

"Protect the Count!"

"Quick! Lock down the main residence!"

The sound of hurried, anxious footsteps came from the hallway outside the door.

With a loud BANG, the heavy study door was violently kicked open from the outside by heavily armed elite guards.

The white-haired old steward, holding a Thrusting Sword that pulsed with High Tier Magic Power, charged into the study against the blast of frigid air.

However, what greeted their eyes was a scene of utter ruin.

The spectral Blue ice-flames still burned quietly on the rubble, and the temperature in the room was so low that even breathing sent a sharp pain through one’s lungs.

"Stand down."

A calm voice emerged from the depths of the ruins.

It was accompanied by the soft sound of shattering ice crystals.

Molok’s tall figure slowly walked out from the mist of spectral Blue ice and snow.

He looked a little disheveled at the moment, his formerly noble attire now covered in frost.

But the expression on his face had changed little, though anyone familiar with him could sense the rage in his heart.

These ice-flames were a manifestation of the Power of fate surging through his path of destiny; they were not an attack from someone else.

One could even say they were a transformation of his own Power.

This level of tearing in his web of fate was no less severe than the injuries inflicted by his old rival in the past.

To maintain the balance of his own web of fate, in the very instant of the explosion, he had been forced to personally sever hundreds of the destiny threads he had laid out. This meant that the vast tapestry of fate he had woven before was now completely ruined!

Molok ignored the guards and the steward at the door.

He bent down and picked up a sheepskin notebook from the shattered ice crystals covering the floor, one that had not been completely pulverized.

On the spine of the notebook, the number that had once represented a specific person was now completely frozen and blurred.

Molok brought the notebook before him and blew on it lightly.

The spectral Blue ice-flames clinging to the cover scattered with his breath, revealing the tattered book.

"Leonidas?"

Molok stood amidst the ruins, his voice as soft as a whisper in a dream.

He certainly knew what that name meant.

The first King of the North.

The Dragon Slayer who drew the Spear of the Lake.

This was a Mythical Level figure of no small importance in the annals of history!

Even at the height of his power, he would never have dared to meddle with, let alone bear, the path of destiny of this King of the North!

Molok’s fingers tightened bit by bit, making the notebook, its material altered by the frost, crackle under the pressure.

His gaze went past the ruins of the study to the full moon outside the window, a grim smile appearing on his once-elegant face.

"Why... would the fate of the first King of the North, Leonidas, suddenly press down upon my web of fate?"

"Just what reckless insect..."

"...dared to tear my web?"

...

Gray Rock Town was bustling in the early morning.

The streets were filled with residents in small groups, all eagerly discussing the strange phenomenon that had appeared in the direction of Copper Creek Forest the previous night.

In the middle of the night, a massive red Technique had suddenly materialized in the sky above Copper Creek Forest.

The intense fluctuation of Magic Power had thoroughly shaken the quiet little town from its slumber.

It wasn’t until the latter half of the night, when the light from the enormous Technique gradually faded, that the anxious townspeople were finally able to get some sleep.

Living so close to the dangerous Underground City, the people here were far more aware of the legendary and terrifying Demon sieges than those in other commercial towns. As a result, everyone was on high alert.

As for Lance, who had experienced the event firsthand, he had spent the rest of the night thinking about what to do next. After a short rest, he was already up bright and early.

He stood before the mirror in the washroom and splashed his face hard with cold water.

Chilly droplets of water trickled down his cheeks.

Later, he needed to make a trip to the Adventurer’s Guild to settle the reward for his internship commission with the old guild master. Then, he would stop by the commercial street to pick up the custom-made birthday gift he had ordered in advance.

Just as Lance was drying the water from his face and planning what he should say when they met today...

BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG!

...there was a sudden, loud banging on the main door downstairs.

Along with the violent knocking came a girl’s anxious, tearful shouts.

"Lance! Are you home?!"

Lance froze when he heard the familiar voice.

He quickly dropped the towel and bounded down the stairs to open the door.

The moment he pulled the heavy wooden door open a crack, a blast of cold morning air, unique to this time of day, rushed into the living room.

Nia stood outside, panting for breath.

Perhaps because she had run in such a hurry, combined with the low morning temperature, her face was a little pale.

Nia was wearing thin loungewear and, on her feet, a pair of ill-fitting indoor slippers.

Her long brown hair was a mess. It was obvious she had just scrambled out of her warm bed and sprinted all the way here without even taking the time to wash up.

"Nia, why are you here so early..."

Lance hadn’t even finished his concerned question.

When Nia suddenly rushed forward and grabbed his sturdy arm with all her strength.

She anxiously pulled at Lance, forcing him to turn halfway around as her reddened eyes scanned him from head to toe.

"Are you all in one piece? Do you have any serious internal injuries? What on earth was that red light over the forest last night?"

She fired off several questions in a row.

She had gone to bed early last night and had only heard about what happened from her aunt this morning.

Her aunt told her that Uncle Homman had been urgently called away by the patrol in the middle of the night and still hadn’t returned home.

Nia knew perfectly well that Lance had taken Cecilia to that very forest for her internship yesterday.

With such a huge commotion, she was terrified that she would wake up this morning to find that Lance was gone forever.

Even now, her voice trembled with worry as she spoke.

"I’m fine. Really, not even a scratch."

A warmth spread through Lance’s heart as he saw the girl’s distraught state.

He quickly took her cold wrist in his hand and soothed her in a calm tone, "Don’t get worked up. Come inside, have some hot water, and tell me slowly."
