Who Says I’m Not a Legitimate Adventurer?
Chapter 211: Five Demi-Human Girls! Arranged!
This boy named Lance was definitely not some Adventurer who had grown up struggling in the countryside.
For all anyone knew, he might be an illegitimate child or even a legitimate prince of the Pendragon Royal Family, deliberately fostered in White River Province because of some brutal palace power struggle!
Or perhaps... he belonged to that surviving branch of the legitimate royal bloodline left behind after the great royal upheaval several hundred years ago?
As long as he continued thinking along those lines, any one of those possibilities was enough to make Vance's legs go completely weak.
He suddenly shuddered violently.
That blind fool Ilya!
Just now, he had nearly handed the slot of a little prince who very likely possessed pure royal blood to the useless son of some damned count!
Naturally, Vance's uncontrollable trembling did not escape the notice of the two people present, especially Lance, whose gaze immediately shifted toward him.
Panic flashed through Vance's heart, and he immediately forced a dry laugh to cover it up.
“The draft through this corridor is a bit strong. Suddenly feeling a little cold.”Rubbing his hands together, he hurriedly brought up the next arrangement to change the subject.
“Here's the situation. For the sake of centralized management, all non-local personnel who register for Heroic Spirit Baptism at the Veterans’ Institute are provided with officially arranged, safe, and comfortable accommodations.”
With a face full of smiles, Vance guided him onward.
“Your registration procedures have all been completed.”
“You may first rest in the lounge next to the main hall. Inside are detailed materials regarding tomorrow's Heroic Spirit Baptism. You can review them in advance and familiarize yourself with the process.”
“Once you've finished reading, I'll personally lead you to your accommodations.”
Standing behind him, Ilya could not help secretly glancing at his superior.
Since when had the Veterans’ Institute ever provided unified lodging arrangements for non-local personnel as a welfare policy?
He had worked here for so many years and had never heard of such a thing!
Lance was also somewhat surprised by the arrangement.
He had originally been planning to find a clean inn outside and make do for one night.
It seemed that Uncle Ryan's influence within the military back then was even greater than he had imagined.
Not only could it solve corruption issues, it apparently even covered logistical support such as lodging and meals.
Since someone was taking the initiative to arrange everything, he was happy to save himself the trouble of finding a place to stay.
Last night, he had stayed at an inn near the harbor, and it had been damp and uncomfortable.
Lance nodded, took the materials, and walked toward the lounge.
Once Lance's figure completely disappeared around the corner of the corridor—
Only then did the secretary clerk Ilya dare to speak in a trembling voice.
“O-Officer Vance?”
“Um... what should we tell the count's family...?”
“Tell your mother's head!”
Vance spun around abruptly.
Lowering his voice, he unleashed a furious barrage directly into Ilya's face, nearly spraying him with spit.
“You idiot!”
“Do you have any idea how huge a disaster you almost caused just now?!”
Vance glared fiercely at him, a ruthless look in his eyes.
“I'm warning you. Regarding everything that happened today, no matter who comes asking—even if that count personally stands here and questions you—you are to insist that you know absolutely nothing!”
After finishing his tirade, Vance pulled out a handkerchief and wiped away the cold sweat still continuously forming on his forehead.
He turned his head and stared toward the doorway through which Lance had disappeared.
A gambler's madness gradually lit up within his small eyes.
If this young man, who very likely possessed royal blood, truly resonated tomorrow during the Heroic Spirit Baptism with the Red Dragon Noble Phantasm within the Astral Realm Heroic Spirit Baptism, obtaining the blessing of the Heroic Spirit of Clovis Pendragon and forcefully returning to the center of power in the royal capital—
Then this accidental encounter today would undoubtedly be the greatest fortune Vance had ever encountered in his entire life!
He had to seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and do everything possible to make this young prince comfortable.
When he thought about the high-end accommodations, staffing arrangements, and the enormous amount of money he would have to pay out of his own pocket for enchanted equipment exchanges—
His money-loving heart could not help aching painfully.
But this was an investment that could earn him the merit of supporting a future ruler.
You couldn't catch a wolf without sacrificing a child. This money was worth spending!
...
When Lance pushed open the carved wooden door and truly stepped into the luxury suite arranged by Vance—
This young man, who had lived in a small town ever since transmigrating into this world, was genuinely stunned by the luxurious scene before him.
The level of decoration in this room wasn't inferior in the slightest to the finest luxury hotels from his previous life.
He lowered his head and took a look.
Beneath his feet was a white carpet woven from the fur of some rare beast. It was thick and soft, making him feel as though he were walking on clouds, without producing even the slightest footstep.
Raising his head, he discovered that hanging from the ceiling was not one of those common cheap magical crystal lamps.
Instead, it was an entire Reflection Crystal that had been cut into a perfectly smooth form.
The crystal emitted a faint warm yellow glow. The light was bright yet completely non-irritating, illuminating the spacious room as though it were daytime.
In one corner stood a half-human-height magical phonograph.
The horn-shaped opening slowly released a constant-temperature breeze. It was a cool wind precisely regulated through alchemical arrays, making it exceptionally comfortable against the skin.
Mixed into the air along with the breeze was soothing instrumental music played by an Elven harp, its melody beautiful and pleasant.
And in the very center of this luxurious room—
Stood an absurdly enormous four-post velvet canopy bed.
To be honest, if Lance had been alone in the room right now—
The moment he saw that comfortable bed, he would have thrown himself onto it without hesitation and buried himself beneath the blankets for a wonderful sleep.
But standing at the doorway now, his feet seemed nailed to the carpet, completely unable to move even half a step forward.
Because directly in front of that bed stood a line of girls dressed in elegant black-and-white maid uniforms.
Lance was completely dumbfounded.
His gaze swept across them and discovered that there were a full five girls standing there.
Moreover, it seemed that in order to comprehensively showcase the charm of the great city of White River City, Vance had selected girls with a wide variety of racial traits.
There was a Foxfolk Demi-Human with a fluffy tail swaying behind her, a Featherfolk girl with pure white wings growing from her back, a Siren half-blood whose eyes were framed by delicate scales, and finally a pair of sweet-looking Halfling twin sisters.
“Welcome to your residence, my lord.”
“We shall be responsible for attending to your daily needs tonight.”
Upon seeing Lance enter, the five girls simultaneously lifted their skirts and performed flawless curtsies, their voices sweet as honey.
What the hell is this?!
Lance roared inwardly.
Had the Veterans’ Institute of White River City really become this corrupt?
If he still believed this was merely unified lodging arrangements after stepping into this place, then he was an absolute idiot.
He had no idea just how many stories that officer named Vance had imagined inside his own head.
In order to make up for the so-called “mistake,” not only had he promised enchanted equipment, he had also arranged an extravagantly luxurious suite and even sent over an entire row of charming Demi-Human maids.
Most importantly, how did Vance know he liked Demi-Humans? Where exactly had that been apparent?
What Lance didn't know was that throughout history, the male members of the Pendragon Royal Family who possessed Red Dragon bloodlines had been famous for their boundless energy and romantic tendencies.
To properly serve this prince who had been lost outside the royal family, Vance had spared no expense, transferring these highly trained attendants from the finest guesthouse in the city.
